Chapter 680
Rising from the Ashes
Chapter 679
With a dull thud, Christinaâs phone slipped from her trembling hands and hit the floor. Her legs gave out, and she collapsed onto the ground, her body drained of all strength.
Everything was true, which meant she had been blind. Completely, utterly blind.
But how? She had thought she knew Andrew inside and out and had been convinced he was an unambitious man who did not deserve to stand beside her.
Yet, in the end, it was she who had been standing outside the gates of the truth, unable to see what was right in front of her.
Was she really as foolish as Andrew had claimed?
A storm of thoughts spiraled through her mind, and she cried out as she clutched her head, overwhelmed by the unbearable realization. (1
Irene and Leroy rushed to her side, their faces stricken with alarm.
âChristie! Whatâs wrong? Youâre scaring me!â Irene cried, gripping her daughterâs arms. âAre you feeling sick? Letâs go to the hospital!â
âChristie, you look awful!â Leroy added, his voice filled with concern. âDid that bastard Andrew do something to you again? Just say the word, and Iâll hunt him down myself!â
Their anxious voices barely registered in Christinaâs ears.
It took her a long moment to compose herself before she finally muttered, âIâm fine⦠this has nothing to do with Andrew. I just⦠I have a lot on my mind that I canât figure out.â
She shook her head and forced herself to stand, though her brows remained furrowed, and her thoughts continued to churn. Every moment she shared with Andrew came flooding back, leaving her heart tangled in a mess of
emotions.
Irene scowled. âChristie, Iâve told you beforeâyou shouldnât believe a single word that loser says. Youâre only like this because youâre overthinking things. That man is nothing but a liar, and youâre wasting your time dwelling on him!â
She continued, âMy precious daughter, youâre the CEO of Stevens Corporation, the backbone of the Stevens family! If something happens to you, what will happen to me and your brother?â
Tears welled up in Ireneâs eyes as she began wailing dramatically.
Meanwhile, Christinaâs head throbbed with frustration. She snapped, âMom, can you stop crying already? Donât we have enough problems right now? Do you really have to make things worse?â
She turned away before Irene could protest and immediately sought out Aspen.
âAspen, come with me to the Weller family estate,â Christina said, her voice tight with determination.
Aspen arched a brow. âChristie, you cut ties with the Weller family ages ago. Why do you want to go back now?â
Christina let out a forced laugh. âYouâll probably think Iâm ridiculous, but I need to see Harvey, I need to confirm something.â
Aspenâs eyes darkened slightly. âLet me guessâitâs about Andrew, isnât it?â
Christina hesitated before nodding. âYeah. Itâs about him.â

âI still donât want to believe it,â she admitted, her voice growing softer. âI donât want to believe that I was wrong about him all along. So I need to hear it one more time. I need proofâproof that I didnât misjudge him.â
Aspen crossed her arms and studied Christina for a moment. She asked, âAnd what if Harvey gives you that proof? What if he confirms that you did misjudge Andrew?â
She pressed on, âChristie, will you regret it then? Will you hate yourself for the choice you made?â Christinaâs body tensed. A bitter smile tugged at her lips as she mumbled, âHonestly⦠I donât know.â
Aspen smirked as she thought, âIt doesnât matter what truth you uncover. Andrew is dead. Nothing can change that.â
Nonetheless, she was in a good mood. So, if Christina wanted to waste her time chasing ghosts, Aspen was more than happy to humor her.
She simply replied, âAlright, Christie. Iâll go with you to the Weller family. But be prepared. Even if Andrew really did do all those things for you, even if he was more than you ever realizedâitâs too late. You two are on completely different paths now. Thereâs no going back.â
