Chapter 1023
The Ex-Husband's Revenge
âHeâs fine! He should wake up anytime now!â Leon smiled.
âWake up? Just look at him!â Gilbert roared as he looked at Albertâs limp body. âYou scammer, Leon! I already told you that you had the wrong diagnosis, but you insist on doing things your way.â
Gilbert grew increasingly irritated and the anger he suppressed exploded.
âCalm down, Dad! Leon said that Grandpa will wake up soon. Just wait!â Iris said, her voice growing weaker as she spoke.
She trusted Leon at first, but Albert did not seem to recover throughout the days and she started to doubt if her father was right about Leon having the wrong diagnosis.
âWait? Iâve been waiting for five days! Move out of the way, Iris. I have to teach this kid a lesson today!â
Gilbert shouted as he gathered his true energy in his palm.
âUncle Gilbert, Iâve been respectful and tolerated you because youâre a senior, but Iâm not scared of you. Please donât try me!â Enraged, Leonâs expression darkened.
âYou dare to threaten me, you brat?! Iâm going to make you regret saying that!â Provoked, Gilbert pushed Iris out of the way and charged at Leon.
âUgh!â Just then, they heard someone cough and turned to find Albert opening his eyes.
âHeâs awake!â Gilbert gasped.
Iris and the others were stunned as well.
Instantly, silence fell over the room and everyone froze.
âGrandpa! Youâre really awake!â Iris was the first to sober up and hurried over to help Albert up.
âH- Howâs this possible?!â Gilbert felt shaken. He was sure that Leon had the wrong diagnosis and would never manage to revive Albert, yet Leon somehow succeeded.
This proved Leon right and Gilbert realized that he was wrong.
Most importantly, Iris wanted to reach out to Leon for help when Albert fell ill, but Gilbert stopped her from doing so. If he did not stop her, Leon would be able to cure Albert right away and with Albert there to back him up, neither Gilbert nor Iris would be forced out of their own family by Daisy.
It would not be an overstatement to say that it was all his fault and his own foolishness cost him and Iris everything, but it was all too late.
Albert slowly started to come to and recalled being attacked by Daisy and Harold.
âIris, am I alive?â Shocked, Albert stared at Iris and glanced at the others in disbelief.
