Chapter 1388
The Ex-Husband's Revenge
âNigel, how dare you accuse my gift of being a cheap, manâmade jadeite? Donât say anything if you donât know the whole truth!â Leon shot Nigel a displeased look.
âWell, you know full well whether Iâm telling the truth or not! Let me show you what a pure jadeite looks like!
Nigel sneered as he opened his gift box and took out his jadeite statue.
Although the jadeite statue Nigel prepared was less than half the size of Leonâs, it was clear and transparent with no added patterns to it at allâone could tell that it was a piece of stone of the highest utmost clarity!
âThis is a creamâclear jadeite!â
âYes, youâre right. The clarity seems to be of topânotch quality, and I might go as far as to say this is ice- clear jadeite! Iâm certain this must cost at least millions of dollars!â
The audience gasped in awe at this.
Creamâclear jadeites were much more common than FourâColored ones, and it was evident that the jadeite Nigel prepared was certainly of the highest possible quality!
âDid you hear that, Leon? Everyone can tell that my jadeite is a genuine, valuable one, unlike your cheap, synthetic one!â Nigel smiled triumphantly.
Although he and Leon prepared the same gift by coincidence, it was clear who won this round. He was certain that the gift Leon prepared was a counterfeit stone, and he was determined to humiliate Leon in front of everyone!
âSo what?â Leon was amused by Nigelâs naivety.
âWhat do you mean, so what? Itâs my greatâuncleâs eightieth birthday, and yet you prepared a counterfeit product worth only a few hundred dollars at most as his present! Are you looking down on my greatâuncle, and us Scammells as well?â Nigel sneered.
âThatâs right! That fella has given such a cheap gift and humiliated the Scammells in front of everyone!â
the audience piped up, turning to glance at Leon and Patrick with expressions of disdain.
âUm,â the color drained from Patrickâs face when he sensed everyoneâs eyes on him. After the gift Damian and the others gave him, he was initially in a pleasant mood, but Leonâs gift was so terrible that he was utterly humiliated in front of everyone!
Even though it was the thought that counted, the Scammells were still an ancient and powerful family, and certainly, the value of a gift mattered just as much!
Leon was his future grandsonâinâlaw, for Godâs sakeâhow could he possibly embarrass him in front of everyone with a cheap gift? This would turn him and the rest of the Scammells into the entire cityâs laughingstock!
One could only imagine Patrickâs rage at this realization!
âWhat are you doing, Leon? You couldâve prepared a better gift for such a joyous occasion. How can you be so cheap?â Damianâs face was as white as a ghost. He and Leon already agreed that if Leon got on Patrickâs good side, he would help convince Patrick into selling one of their pharmaceutical companies to Leon, but now, not only did Leon fail to do so, he even angered Patrick with his cheap, measly gift!
Not even Damian could drag him out of this hole even if he wanted!
