Chapter 1677

“Thud! Thud!” seeing that there was no way out of this anymore, Rick got on his knees and was followed suit by Eugene, Nigel, and the rest of the Scammells that had betrayed them.

After so long, most of the other elders and the collateral descendants of the first bloodline had arrived at the scene and managed to gain control of the situation under Damian’s leadership.

“Patrick, this is all my fault. I’m sorry… Please… forgive us for this…” Rick pleaded for mercy.

“How dare you call me by my name?! Rick, I’ve always been kind to you, and yet you betrayed me!

Where is your conscience?” Patrick bellowed, the look in his eyes so fiery it was as though he could breathe fire at any moment.

He would not be so infuriated if this had just been Rodney and Charlie’s plan to devour the Scammells‘

assets alone what ticked him off the most was that Rick, his own brother, had betrayed him and gone over to the dark side!

Betrayal was certainly not a good feeling to harbor.

Rage and disappointment seeped into Patrick’s heart alongside it as well.

“Patrick, this is all my fault. I was tempted by greed… Please, show us mercy… We are brothers after all… I can guarantee that this will never happen again in the future…” Rick stammered. He was not the only one trying to plead for his life. Even Eugene, Nigel, and the rest of the Scammells had begun pleading for their mercy “Show you mercy? You must be out of your mind! Leon had already warned me before that the members of the second bloodline would one day betray us, but I was too naive to see the truth! I should have believed him. If I did, none of this would’ve happened! I’ve committed the same mistake before, so do you think I’ll do it again?” Patrick snarled. The magnitude of Rick’s betrayal had chilled him down to the bone, so there was he could allow himself to fall for the same trick twice! no way “Rick, I understand my mistake now. Please give us another chance…” Rick pleaded, but before he could even finish, Patrick interrupted him, “Rick, I will spare your life… Only because we grew up together, but sometimes, the consequences of being alive can be even worse than death.”

Patrick paused for a moment, then, stifling the excruciating feeling of sorrow, continued coldly, Gentlemen, take all of their power levels away, and everyone who was involved in this act of treachery is to be banished from the Scammell family!”

“Yes, sir!” The elders who were in charge of the familial judicial system stepped forward and strode towards Rick, Eugene, and Nigel.

“No!” The punished let out blood curdling screams of terror, but nothing could save them now.

“Rick, considering we are brothers, this is the best I can do for you. Although you never treated me as family, I still cannot bear to see you suffer. In two days, I will transfer four hundred and forty million dollars to your name, so that neither of your offspring will have to live in poverty for the rest of your lives. I sincerely hope that all of you will learn your lesson from this!” Patrick said with a strange look.

“Thank you, Patrick…” Rick stammered, hunched over in remorse and looking as though he had aged decades in just a few moments. Eugene and Nigel were not much better. Their faces were ashen with grief.

Thankfully, Patrick had offered to provide them money, so at least on the bright side, they could at least live comfortably for the rest of their lives.

This was the last act of kindness Patrick could offer them!
