Chapter 98:
Flowers Are Bait
âI was worried sick about you all night!â Choo-ja exclaimed through the phone. Her voice was so loud that Lee-yeon had to keep her phone away from her ear to protect it from the shouting. She could hear Choo-ja sniffling on the other end of the line, but she didnât mention it, and, eventually, the shouting paused when Choo-ja stopped to blow her nose.
âThen Chae-woo called me last night while you were sleeping to tell me that you only had a few minor injuries,â Choo-ja said in a quieter voice. âHe was so calm when he told me not to worry.â
âAh,â Lee-yeon said into the phone, nodding. It had only been a few minutes since she woke up and, while it had surprised her when she found that it was already noon, that wasnât what bothered her.
What bothered her was the fact that, when she had woken up alone, she checked her phone to find that she had slept through ten missed calls. She wondered how much longer she couldâve been asleep if Kwon Chae-woo hadnât entered the room just then so that she could answer Choo-jaâs call.
âIâll be right there,â she told Choo-ja. Her eyes drifted to the shopping bags that Kwon Chae-woo carried. âItâs the memorial day.â
âDonât worry about it!â Choo-ja told her. âTake it easy. It couldâve been your memorial day, you know.â
Lee-yeon shook her head. âNo, Iâll be there,â she said. âYou shouldnât be alone.â
They said their goodbyes and Lee-yeon ended the call quickly. Her legs ached when she tried to move, but, other than that, it wasnât too bad.
âWhere did you go?â she asked Kwon Chae-woo.
He looked down at her hospital gown. He was just looking but his gaze had such a tight grasp on Lee-yeon that she could almost feel it. âWell, you canât go out like that,â he said simply. He reached into the bag and handed her a set of undergarments.
Lee-yeon took the intimate pieces quickly and meekly hid them behind her back. âHow did you pay?â
Kwon Chae-woo scoffed at her and frowned. âThe shops below the hospital have everything,â he told her. âI just billed them to our room.â
âBut,â Lee-yeon paused as she furrowed her brows, âyouâre a patient, you know. Why did you wake me up? I couldâve handled all that.â
Then, Kwon Chae-woo pulled her close and wrapped his arms around her waist. âYou canât just go all innocent on me out of nowhere.â
The moment his breath brushed against her neck, Lee-yeon could feel the spot between her legs start to grow hot. It flustered her that her whole body seemed to react to everything about Kwon Chae-woo from his scent to his breath to his voice to his grasp. She couldnât help how she felt around him.
âYour nipples get hard so easily, I can see them through your gown,â he chuckled as he looked at her. âIf I let you go out like that, any bastard from the street could have seen the nipples I sucked on all night. I wouldnât be able to live with that.â
Lee-yeon could feel her face heat up, so she pushed it against his chest to hide it.
âThereâs no way Iâm letting you go out without underwear,â he told her. âMaybe if I get shot in the head but, otherwise, what kind of husband would I be if I allowed such a thing?â He started to caress Lee-yeonâs waist.
âYou should lie down a little longer, Chae-woo,â Lee-yeon said nervously.
âOnly if you lie down with me.â
Lee-yeon had tried to change the subject, but it was no use. The more he touched her, the more she seemed to get disturbed.
âIâll go home and come back in the evening,â she said weakly.
âI donât want that.â Kwon Chae-woo squeezed her waist.
Hesitantly, Lee-yeon tapped his back so that he would move away from her. âYouâre not made of steel, Chae-woo,â she said. âYouâre a human being. At this rate, youâre going to be really weak when you get old. I know this might seem boring, but please focus on your health.ân/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
When Kwon Chae-woo didnât speak, Lee-yeon added, âBesides, we already did it last night.â
Kwon Chae-woo smirked and pressed a kiss to her neck. âWhat was that?â
âYou kept doing it while I was still swollen,â she mumbled.
âAre you talking about my shoulder or your holeââ
âBoth!â
Lee-yeon hit him on the back as if she was scolding him. Kwon Chae-woo couldnât hold back his laughter.
He realized that he liked everything about her. He liked the way that she cared about people, even when they didnât seem like they were coming back. He liked her innocence, and he didnât want to let her go. He didnât care about any memories he mightâve lost because he was certain that he had gained something much more valuable.
âI think only stupid people would take their d!ck out when someone is swollen,â he teased her.
She glared at him playfully. âChae-woo, thereâs such a thing called manners, you know.â
âIâd rather do it every day with you than have any manners at all.â
Lee-yeon blinked at his words. She looked like she was about to say something, but she had forgotten.
âDo you not like it?â Kwon Chae-woo asked.
Lee-yeon shook her head. âItâs not that,â she said. âItâs just that⦠it hurts after.â
Kwon Chae-woo frowned. âI didnât want to compare butâ¦â he trailed off. âAm I not good anymore?â
Lee-yeon couldnât find the right words to tell him how she felt.
âI donât know much,â Kwon Chae-woo admitted. âI just go at it like a dog without any skill, I know. If you want, Iâll learn first. We wonât do it as much⦠Would that be better?â He closed his eyes guiltily.
âThatâs not it!â Lee-yeon burst out, her face turning red. âItâs not that at all! Itâs not your fault or anything.â
âThen what is it?â
Lee-yeon looked away as if she was embarrassed. âYouâre just⦠too big for me. I just hoped youâd go a little easier on me, thatâs all.â
âI knew it,â Kwon Chae-woo said. He looked at Lee-yeon seriously. âDonât go out without me.â
