Chapter 24

Maggie paced around her apartment, feeling restless. She switched the laundry and pulled out new sheets, but she needed help changing them. Then the doorbell rang.

Makayla came in and put the pizza boxes on the coffee table before getting glasses of lemonade and napkins. They sat down on the couch together.

“Spill it, Maggie! Now!”

“Makayla, it was unlike anything I have ever experienced! Liam is…is…”

“Sexy? Passionate? Good in bed?”

“Yes! All of the above! We had an incredible time! We went to that nice Italian place on the water in Jupiter and had a great meal. He is so easy to talk to and he makes me laugh.”

“I know! Every time we saw him with Brett, he just had a way of putting you at ease. No wonder he is such a good lawyer! Anyway, continue!”

“So, we drove back here and I invited him up and he said something that really hit home…”

“What, honey? What did he say?”

“I told him about how Jason had said that I was terrible in bed and haven’t had great experiences with men… So I warned him before we slept together so he could back out if he wanted…”

“Oh, honey! I’m sorry! What did he say?”

“He said he was going to prove that asshole wrong and show me how great sex could be. Mak, he was incredible! He made me feel things I didn’t know were possible!”

“Makayla, I had too many to count! Each time we went at it I had at least two!”

“Each time? How many times did you have sex?”

“Which day?”

Maggie thought and counted for a second. “I think it’s seven times?”

“Oh my god, Maggie! I’m so happy for you! So where does this leave you guys?”

“He asked me to be his girlfriend…,” she whispered.

“Maggie, that’s great! So, you’re together then?”

“Apparently so! I met his mother’s best friend and her husband, who happen to be his business partner, housekeeper, and groundskeeper for some properties he has. They are really great people.

“He talked about me to them! From the minute he ran into me and knocked me over, he started talking about me. No one has done that before…,” she said with tears in her eyes.

Makayla put down her glass and hugged her best friend. “I know, honey. I know. Enjoy this, enjoy him. He is a good man.”

“I am in love with him,” Maggie whispered.

Makayla’s eyes went wide. “Are you sure?”

“I have never felt anything like this before. I thought I was falling for Jason, but I was so wrong! I know that if I never see Liam again, I will never be the same. He has my heart.”

Makayla sat back and looked at Maggie. She was glowing.

“I’m very happy for you, sweetie! Did you tell him?”

“Hell no! I’m not stupid enough to say it this early! I will wait before I say something!”

Makayla laughed and bit into her pizza. “Let’s eat this and then break out the ice cream! My baby needs some Mocha Bliss!”

They ate, talked, and giggled for the rest of the evening. Makayla helped her change the sheets on her bed before she left.

“I’ll see you tomorrow!” Makayla said, hugging her friend. “I’m so happy for you, Maggie! I can’t wait to see what happens next!”

“Me either!”

Maggie locked up and jumped in the shower and settled into bed to watch TV when her phone dinged.

I was working and lost track of time, I’m sorry Darling! Thank you again for this weekend!

Maggie

I think a lot of the pleasure was mine too 😊

oh yes it was! I just wanted to tell you that I am going to be in court again this week and won’t be around much. I will call or text when I can. I’m sorry!

Thanks for letting me know. I can keep myself occupied for a few days but I will miss you and your stubbly face

Maggie put her phone on the nightstand and fell asleep with a smile on her face.

The next week in school was busy, but Liam wouldn’t let her forget him. The kids loved it each time there was a knock on the door and something was delivered to her from Liam.

Monday was a large, beautiful bouquet of tropical flowers. Tuesday was a balloon bouquet. Wednesday was cookies, with one for every child in her class.

Thursday was a box full of cat toys and a note asking if she wanted to go to the county fair on Saturday afternoon.

Maggie texted him every day and thanked him for the gifts. On Thursday, she agreed to the date but was a little sad when she didn’t hear from him that night.

She showered and was sitting in a robe eating an apple and grading some papers when the doorbell rang.

She opened it and was immediately met with Liam’s lips on hers. He kicked the door closed, picked her up, and carried her back to her room without breaking the kiss.

He laid her on the bed and opened the robe to reveal her naked body. With a gleam in his eyes, he took off his suit coat and threw it to the floor.

She sat up and started unbuttoning his shirt. He shed the material to the floor as he pushed her back and started kissing up and down her body.

Hearing him talk about forever was her undoing and Maggie came as Liam gave in and came right after her as he felt her walls convulse and squeeze him.

“I’m so glad you came by tonight. I see you still have the stubble! How has your week been?” She rested her head on his chest, and he gently rubbed her skin.

“I missed you in my bed so much! It’s been a shite week with this case, the judge we pulled is a right foul git! It was supposed to be done today but we are going back tomorrow and maybe Monday.

“I haven’t been home before ten any night this week, but I couldn’t take not seeing you anymore! I ended the prep early and came right over here.”

“I’m so glad you did! I missed you in my bed too. Do you need something to eat?”

“No, we had dinner during prep, but I just couldn’t stop thinking about you, so I rushed right over. Then when you opened the door, I lost control! So, I am sorry if I startled you, darling.”

“I loved every second!”

She pulled the covers over them, and they lay and talked. He was pleased that she liked the gifts.

“Liam, thank you again for all the gifts, but you don’t have to buy me things.”

“I know that, but I want to!”

“I know and you are so sweet for being so generous, but it makes me uncomfortable.”

“Why? Because I spend money on you?”

“Well, yes. I don’t want you or anyone else to think I am with you for your money, especially Joan or Niall or your family!”

“Darling, they don’t think that at all. Joan and Niall are in love with you! They know that you have a true heart and know you are not with me for my money!”

Maggie propped herself on her good arm. “Please, Liam.”

He saw the uncertainty in her eyes and sighed. “Okay, I will slow down, but I won’t stop! I want to spoil you, but I can ease up a bit.”

She thanked him softly and kissed him.

“Can you stay?” she asked.

“I thought you would never ask!” he smiled and pulled her close again after turning the lamp off.

They talked in the dark, deciding that she would invite Makayla, Mike, and Brett to come with them on Saturday. Soon she felt his breathing soften and become even and regular.

She kissed his lips, and she drifted off to sleep.
