Chapter 40

Maggie was stunned as she looked at him holding the black velvet box with a magnificent ring in it.

She looked around and saw Niall holding up his phone to record the moment. Joan, Makayla, and Hannah were tearing up.

“Maggie, I can’t tell you how much I love you. You have changed my life in ways I never thought possible. I never thought I would love again, and you showed me what I had been missing all these years.

“Each day that I see you, I fall harder for you than the day before. After I almost lost you a few weeks ago, I realized that I will not spend another night without you or wake up without you again. I want to live with you forever, have a family, and spoil you rotten for the rest of our lives. Will you do me the greatest honor and become my wife and let me love you forever?”

Maggie started crying as he was pouring his heart out to her and everyone around them. She couldn’t imagine her life without him, and now she wouldn’t have to!

He truly loved her, and she was overjoyed. She wanted nothing more than to spend the rest of her life with him and have babies with him.

“Oh, Liam, yes! More than anything else in my life!” she yelled.

Liam jumped up and kissed her passionately as the witnesses all cheered. He pulled back, took the ring out of the box, and placed it on her shaking left hand.

She looked at the piece of jewelry on her finger and thought that she had never seen anything so perfect before.

Makayla, Hannah, and Sheila came up yelling and squealing.

Brett came over and hugged his best friend so hard. “You are something else, Liam! I told you to take care of her and you did, but please, still be careful with her! Now tell me about that ring!”

Liam hugged him back. “I promise I will for my whole life. That is an eighteen-karat white gold round cut engagement ring, with a four-karat diamond and a smaller diamond halo.

“I saw a ring I liked and had them add the halo and diamonds on the sides. It’s pretty damn good if I do say so myself!”

“It’s brilliant, Liam! Your mom is going to be so happy! Did you send the video yet?” Joan came over and hugged the young man as she cried.

Liam took his phone from Niall and sent the video. It was late in England, so he didn’t expect anything until the morning.

Brett went into the kitchen, found a bottle of champagne, and popped it open, pouring glasses for everyone. Lucy was gurgling and clapping as everyone was talking and passing her around.

Everyone left within the hour, letting the newly engaged couple calm down before work the next day.

Maggie started the dishwasher and held out her hand to admire the sparkles. She was so happy, her feet were hardly touching the ground.

Liam wrapped his arms around her. “Ready for bed, darling? We have some more celebrating to do!”

Maggie grinned and grabbed his hand, leading him upstairs where they quickly undressed each other.

They fell on the bed in a heap of limbs and made love as a soon-to-be-married couple before drifting off to sleep with smiles on their faces.

Liam groaned the next morning as his phone woke them up. He recognized his mother’s ring tone, picked it up, and put it on speaker as Maggie snuggled close to him.

“Morning, Mom,” Liam said with a yawn.

“Oh, Liam, I am so happy for you! Your dad and I can’t wait to meet Maggie! I am just so proud of you!” she gushed and cried.

“Son, she is just so lovely, and we are coming over early! We can’t wait anymore! We are just so bloody happy!”

Maggie grinned at Liam as they listened to his parents go on.

“Okay, Mom, I will be ready when you get here! Are Henry, Bethany, Liza, and William coming early too? Just so I can plan rooms.”

“They will know if they can clear their schedules by the end of the day and let you know. Liza is thrilled, and you know Bethany is ready to help in any way! Do you have a date yet?” his mother asked.

“Love, they haven’t been engaged for twenty-four hours yet! Give them a minute to breathe, plan and shag a little!” Charles said with a laugh.

“Charlie! That’s terrible!” Elizabeth exclaimed.

“Dad! Don’t embarrass Maggie! Bloody hell!” Liam said looking at Maggie with a smirk.

She blushed and groaned into her pillow.

“Dad, we have to go. Maggie has to get to class. I will call you later, okay?”

“Oh, and congratulations on the award too! We are just so thrilled about the whole weekend’s events!” his mom said, crying again.

“Thanks, Mom! Love you! Love you too, Dad!” Liam yelled.

They repeated their love back to him and hung up. “They sound awesome.”

“They really are, and you are going to love them as much as they will love you! Now get your sexy arse up and in the shower for another round shagging before we leave for the day!”

Maggie giggled and ran to the bathroom as he chased her.
