Divorce Has Never Felt This Good Chapter 210
Divorce Has Never Felt This Good
Jessie knew that Becky would come tonight, but she hadnât expected her to show up so soon.
Jessie hadnât slept well since she had said what she shouldnât have said before Rory.
But what had been done could not be undone. She couldnât withdraw her words now. She couldnât go back in time and make sure that Rory and the others didnât hear her.
Jessie felt guilty when she saw Becky. âYouâre here,â she said.
Becky had been friends with Jessie for more than twenty years and knew her well.
She knew from Jessieâs expression that she had caused trouble. âHave you been busy of late?â
Ever since Jessie had shut down her studio, she had become a typical leisurely rich lady.
There was no way she had been busy.
But Jessie felt guilty now and was also afraid that she would say more wrong things. âNo, Iâm not busy. See! I came here to help Louisa today!â
Beckyâs eyebrows shot up and she looked at Jessie, a faint smile playing on her lips. âTell me. Whatâs wrong?â
She paused and added, âItâs okay if you donât tell me. Iâll know about it sooner or later.â
Jessie, who was about to lie, was struck dumb.
They looked at each other for a long moment before Jessie surrendered. âI did a stupid thing two days ago, Becky.â
âOkay,â Becky said, nodding, indicating for Jessie to go on.
âItâs related to you.â
Jessie pursed her lips, tapping her right leg restlessly. She seemed ready to run as she watched Beckyâs expression change.
Becky chuckled. âIs it related to the news about me on the Internet two days ago?â
Jessie nodded. âYes, a little bit.â
Becky clicked her tongue and said, âTell me. What is it? Leniency for those who confess, severity for those who resist.â
Jessie didnât reply at first. But she couldnât stand Beckyâs gaze anymore. She had to tell Becky the truth. âWell, I was very angry when I saw what had happened on the Internet that day, so I went to seek justice on your behalf.â
âOkay?â
âI went to Rory.â
âDid you punch him?â
âI tried but failed.â
Becky looked at her curiously. âIs that all?â she asked.
âThatâs all,â Jessie said, nodding repeatedly.
Becky looked at her and smiled wordlessly.
Jessieâs guilt didnât allow her to squash the actual incident. âWell, there was an episode, but it isnât important.â
âIsnât important?â
It was a simple question but Jessie was overwhelmed by it. âIt was really not important. Becky, sweetie, can you stop asking?â
If Becky continued to ask, Jessie would have no choice but to tell her the truth.
Becky smiled and looked at the stage. âI had a meal with Rory today.â
Jessie was shocked.
âRory asked me a very strange question,â Becky continued, smiling faintly at Jessie.
âWhat was it?â
âWhat do you think, Jessie?â
There was no way Jessie could lie to Becky. She broke down and answered, âIâm sorry, Becky. I didnât mean to do that. My head was hot with anger at that point and I scolded him and accidentally told him that youâve loved him for almost ten years. I swear, I didnât mean to do it!â
Becky had already guessed that. Rory was not a person whoâd make groundless guesses.
His sudden question today told Becky that he must know something other than the truth about the comic book.
Now Becky knew why.
