Divorce Has Never Felt This Good Chapter 24
Divorce Has Never Felt This Good
The news about what happened that night spread like wildfire. Bluepond was a relatively big city, but there were only some influential and rich families in the circle.
The Casper family was the top among the four big families in Bluepond. As the only daughter of the head of the Casper family, Denise had grown up to be proud and arrogant.
However, she had made an awful fool of herself tonight. Becky proved to the world that she didnât give a damn about Deniseâs cheap bracelet.
Denise burst into tears and fled to the lounge. As she ran, Aiken bent and picked up the check Becky had left.
It was indeed a check for four hundred thousand dollars.
Aiken looked up at Rory and asked in disbelief, âCould it be fake?â
He wondered where in the world Becky got the money.
Rory glanced at the check in Aikenâs hand and snorted. âDo you lack four hundred thousand dollars?â
Aiken raised his eyebrows and held up his hands defensively. âI was just curious.â
Rory shot a cold glance at him. âCuriosity killed the cat.â
Aiken looked at Rory incredulously, at a loss for words.
Becky was cruel tonight. After such a scene, Denise would probably become the laughingstock of the town for a long time.
Thinking of this, Aiken couldnât help but ask, âAre you really going to let her go just like that?â
Of course, Rory wouldnât let Becky get away with it like this, but he wouldnât tell Aiken.
Rory snatched the check out of Aikenâs hand, turned around, and walked out.
The driver wasnât expecting Becky and Jessie would want to leave the party so soon, so he was surprised when they called him so early. âMiss Ramos, Iâm so sorry. Iâll get the car right away!â
Hearing the bustling background noise on the other end of the line, Becky chuckled and said kindly, âNo rush, Ernest. You eat first. Iâll go to the bathroom.â
After hanging up, Becky headed towards the guest lounge, her high heels clicking against the floor.
The heavy earrings were starting to weigh her down, so she took them off first. âI canât believe you made me wear such expensive earrings. When your mother finds out, youâll be doomed.â
Jessie snorted dismissively. âIt was my mother who gave them to me in the first place. When she heard that I was picking out jewelry for you, she gave me the whole set without hesitation. I knew you didnât like the necklace, or else I wouldâve brought that, too!â
Becky smiled and carefully tucked the earrings into a protective bag. Then she took off the bracelet, too. âThank your mother for me, okay?â
âYou donât have to be so formal with her. Sheâd be angry if she heard you!â
Becky chuckled and agreed with her friend. She put away the bracelet and the earrings and handed them to Jessie. Thinking of the farce with Denise just now, Becky was somewhat absent-minded.
Seeing that Beckyâs mind was elsewhere, Jessie couldnât help but poke her. âWhat are you thinking about? Donât tell me you regret pouring that wine on Denise! What she did to you in the past is outrageous! It was merciful enough that you didnât pour shit on her head.â
Jessieâs words brought Becky back to her senses. âI do have some regrets, but I donât regret pouring wine on her.â
Jessie frowned in confusion. âThen what do you regret?â
âI regret giving her the check,â Becky answered bluntly.
Jessie looked at her friend and said seriously, âYou donât lack money. I think it is worth it to humiliate her with four hundred thousand dollars.â
âI might not lack the money, but still, money doesnât grow on trees. Why should I give her any money? I could have bought a bag or something with the money.â
Suddenly, a deep, cold voice sounded from behind them. âYou donât have to give Denise the money, but you do have to apologize to her.â
Rory approached and held up the check in front of Becky.
Becky expressionlessly took the piece of paper out of his hand.
After that, she stood up and looked Rory up and down. âAnd what if I donât?â
âThen donât blame her for making trouble for you.â
Becky suddenly broke into a smile. âOkay. Iâll look forward to it.â
Hearing this, Rory was rendered speechless. And the stupid smile on her face made him inexplicably angry. âWhatever.â
After saying that, he turned around and walked away.
Rory knew Denise wouldnât let Becky get away with what happened tonight. Although Becky had succeeded in embarrassing her tonight, Denise would definitely come up with other ways to get her in trouble.
If it werenât for the fact that Becky was his ex-wife, he wouldnât have gotten himself involved in these trivial things at all.
But Becky was ungrateful. Such being the case, he decided to wait for her to come and beg for mercy.
