Chapter 100: Returning a Pair of Underwear
Dad, Stay Away from My Mom
She knew Raymond genuinely cared about her.
Without missing a beat, she said, "How about I get you some underwear?"
Raymond burst out laughing.
He looked at her, his eyes a mix of helplessness and affection. "Anything you give me, I'll love!"
He didn't turn down her offer; instead, he found her suggestion incredibly sweet. Raymond's lips curled into a playful smile. "Just one pair of underwear?"
He raised an eyebrow, prompting Melinda to continue.
Melinda was taken aback. Was that not enough? She widened her eyes, staring at the enigmatic Raymond, filled with confusion.
"What do you want then?" she asked, not wanting to drag out the conversation.
Raymond shrugged lightly, not giving a clear answer.
"Alright, since you have nothing specific in mind, I'll pick out a nice style," he said with
a hint of exasperation, as if bemused by her casual attitude.
Melinda felt exasperated herself.
She looked at Raymond's helpless expression and couldn't help but roll her eyes internally.
So what if he's handsome? He's still a fool, she thought, letting out a small huff and deciding not to dwell on the frustrating topic.
"Alright, I'm off to work," she said, standing up and leaving.
Back at the lab, as soon as she entered the office, Delilah approached her, her sharp eyes catching the bracelet on Melinda's wrist. With a smile, she asked, "Melinda, did Mr. Thomas give you that bracelet?" Her tone was filled with envy.
Melinda blushed slightly, instinctively covering the bracelet on her wrist. "Ms. Lewis, how did you know?" she asked, her voice tinged with surprise and a bit of shyness. "Mr. Thomas called me the other day, asking me to buy a gift for a couple. I chose a bracelet," Delilah said, leaning in slightly, her voice carrying a hint of mischief. "This bracelet is a limited edition designed by an international master, worth two million dollars. I wondered who Mr. Thomas was going to give it to. Could it be Celestia?" Delilah paused deliberately. "I didn't expect it to be you!"
Melinda's breath caught in her throat.
Two million dollars? She stared at the seemingly ordinary bracelet on her wrist, filled with shock.
A bracelet that expensive?
"Looks like Mr. Thomas is very generous with you!" Delilah teased with a smile. Melinda's face turned even redder under Delilah's teasing.
She lowered her head, not daring to meet Delilah's eyes, which were filled with knowing amusement.
"If you like Mr. Thomas, be bold," Delilah encouraged, patting her shoulder. "Don't always leave opportunities for others. There are always women around Mr. Thomas."
Melinda admitted to herself that she liked Raymond, but there was a barrier in her heart that wasn't easy to overcome.
At noon, Melinda's phone rang right on time. Seeing it was Raymond calling, she took
a deep breath and answered, "Hello?"
"Meet me in the underground garage in five minutes," Raymond's deep voice commanded, leaving no room for refusal.
As soon as he finished speaking, the call ended.
Raymond was always so domineering, yet she couldn't resist him. She shook her head,
a helpless smile on her lips, then grabbed her bag and left the office.
Sure enough, Raymond was already waiting for her, hands in his pockets, leaning against the car with a deep gaze. When he saw Melinda, a soft light flickered in his eyes.
Melinda opened the car door and got into the passenger seat. As Raymond started the car, she didn't notice two black SUVS speeding past, one in front and one behind.
The atmosphere in the car grew more intimate as Raymond's gaze lingered on her.
He held the steering wheel with one hand, resting his head on the other, seemingly lost in thought as he stared at her face.

Melinda instinctively covered her face. "Can you not look at me like that? Focus on driving!" Her voice was soft and playful, like a kitten purring.
Raymond's heart skipped a beat.
His hand slid from her cheek to her earlobe, his fingers gently caressing it. "Getting shy already? What if I look at you for a lifetime?"
He laughed softly, his voice resonating from his chest.
He reached out and gently ruffled her hair. "Getting embarrassed already? What if I look at you forever?"
His voice was deep and magnetic, making it impossible to resist.
Raymond saw through her thoughts. Narrowing his eyes, he said possessively, "From
now on, you're not allowed to look at other men! Only me!"
His tone was filled with possessiveness, as if he wanted to keep her by his side forever. Melinda nodded obediently.
Raymond's gaze never left her, as if he wanted to take in every detail of her.
When they arrived at the restaurant, the dishes were already served, all her favorites.
Raymond kept adding food to her plate, as if making up for the times he had upset
her.
After the meal, Raymond didn't linger, taking her straight back to the lab.
Melinda was curious; Raymond seemed different today.
As soon as Raymond returned to his office, there was a knock on the door.
He frowned slightly, seeming a bit displeased, but still said in a deep voice, "Come in."
Celestia walked in, forcing a smile. "Raymond, are you busy? I wanted to invite you to dinner tonight to discuss something."

Raymond closed his laptop and looked up at her.
His gaze was deep and sharp. With a slight smile, he said, "Dinner isn't necessary. Whatever it is, you can say it now."
Celestia's heart tightened. She knew Raymond was politely refusing her, but she wasn't ready to give up. "Raymond, do you have something important tonight?" Raymond nodded. "Yes, very important." His tone was firm and unquestionable. Celestia felt a wave of disappointment. She knew Raymond was going to spend the evening with Melinda.
She tried to maintain her smile, trying to appear understanding. "Alright, since you have plans, I won't disturb you."
As she turned to leave, she heard Raymond's cool voice. "For work-related matters, you can consult Ms. Lewis or Mr. Martin. They'll be able to help you."
Celestia paused, feeling a mix of emotions.
She knew Raymond was drawing a line, pushing her matters to Delilah. Taking a deep breath to steady herself, she walked out of the office.
Finally done with her work, it was time to pick up her child. Melinda hurried to the underground garage, only to see a tall figure waiting for her.
Her eyes sparkled with happiness. "You're off work early?"
Raymond raised an eyebrow, his gaze warm and affectionate. He wrapped an arm around her shoulders. "I'm the boss; I can leave whenever I want. Let's go pick up Sam together."
Melinda instinctively wanted to refuse. "No need, I can do it myself."
Raymond smiled, taking her wrist and leading her to the car. "Sam must miss me. I
need to pick him up myself."
Raymond pulled her into the car and started the engine smoothly.
Melinda looked at his profile. "Hey, Raymond, I have a car." She held her car keys,
raising an eyebrow at Raymond.
Raymond chuckled, "I know, but I want to drive you. Let's go."
