Chapter 102 The Child Injured Someone
Dad, Stay Away from My Mom
As Raymond was about to leave, he called out, "Get some rest, okay?" His eyes
lingered on Melinda for a moment before he turned and walked away.
That night, Melinda struggled to fall asleep again.
She lay in the dark, watching the light reflect off the diamonds on her bracelet, like a bright star in the cold night, warming her heart.
The next morning, the winter chill was setting in.
After dropping off Sam, Melinda hurried to the lab.
She was focused, her expression serious as she stared at the samples in the petri dish. This experiment's data was crucial, and she couldn't afford any mistakes.
Just as she was feeling stuck, someone rang the doorbell outside the pathogen area. She turned around and saw Raymond's face through the isolation glass.
Melinda immediately put down the test tube, walked to the glass, and wrote "Office!" on a piece of paper, then pressed it against the glass.
Raymond nodded slightly, made an "OK" gesture, and turned to leave.
Ten minutes later, Melinda changed her clothes and walked to the office door.
When she looked up, she saw Raymond standing across from her, holding a bouquet of vibrant red roses.
"You..." Melinda looked at Raymond in surprise.
She never expected Raymond to express his feelings so directly.
Raymond handed her the flowers. "These are for you," he said softly, his eyes tender.
Melinda took the roses, her eyes welling up with tears. "Is today a special day?" she asked curiously.
Raymond shook his head. "Don't women love flowers?" His deep voice was both sexy and gentle.
Behind them, colleagues whispered and giggled, eager to see the high-and-mighty Mr. Thomas fall for Melinda.
Melinda blushed, her heart fluttering as she lowered her head. "No, it's not."
"Don't you like them? I heard William gave you flowers last time, so I thought..." Raymond said earnestly.
Melinda almost laughed. "I love them!"
How could she refuse? The last time had nearly cost her dearly.
Hearing this, Raymond's lips curved into a pleased smile, his eyes fixed on her.
"Really?" His voice softened, with a hint of teasing.
Melinda nodded instinctively.
Raymond's smile turned playful.
Embarrassed, Melinda quickly closed the door.
"Next time, just have the florist deliver them," she said softly.
Raymond narrowed his eyes slightly, took her hand, and leaned in gently. "From now on, I'll deliver your flowers myself." Melinda was so touched that her eyes grew misty. The next second, her phone rang.
Melinda quickly placed the flowers on the table and answered the call. "Hello?"
"Melinda, it's time for the meeting," Delilah's voice came from the other end. "Okay, I'll be right there."
Hanging up, Melinda turned to Raymond and said softly, "I have to go to a meeting." Raymond smiled, "I'll come with you."
They walked out of the office one after the other, and the gathered employees quickly dispersed.
Raymond didn't care about their reactions. He glanced at Melinda, "You go to the conference room first." She nodded.
After a few steps, a female colleague blocked her path. "Melinda, why did Mr. Thomas give you flowers?"
"Why else? Mr. Thomas is pursuing her!" another female colleague answered first. Melinda smiled and continued walking towards the conference room.
Around the corner, she bumped into someone, feeling a sharp pain in her shoulder as the other person hit the wall.
She looked up and saw Celestia.
Celestia's gaze was like a snake's, sweeping over her as she hissed, "Didn't you see me?"

Melinda knew Celestia was upset about Raymond personally delivering the flowers. She didn't want to argue with Celestia, so she smiled faintly, "Sorry."
To Celestia, that smile was a provocation.
She glared at Melinda and turned away.
The conference room was already full.
Melinda took her seat, noticing the empty one beside her.
Puzzled, she saw the door open again, and Raymond walked in.
He went straight to the seat next to Melinda, as if it was reserved for him.
Celestia also entered, her eyes flashing with resentment when she saw Raymond sitting next to Melinda. But she quickly masked her emotions and found a seat.
The meeting began, with Delilah explaining the details of the new drug. Suddenly, a colleague brought up a topic, "Melinda, you're so lucky! Mr. Thomas personally brought you such a big bouquet."
"Exactly, Melinda must be Mr. Thomas's true love!" another female colleague chimed
in.
Melinda didn't like being the center of attention. She looked at the two colleagues with a silent warning in her eyes.
They laughed awkwardly and fell silent.
Delilah noticed and frowned, steering the conversation back to the drug issue.
"I want to emphasize that this drug is contagious, so please take proper precautions."
Tenley pretended to check her phone, then looked at Melinda with a malicious smile. Melinda's indifferent gaze swept over Tenley without any emotion.
At that moment, she felt Raymond's arm brush against hers.
Even more awkward, their bracelets touched.
Blushing, she quickly hid her arm under the table.
Luckily, no one noticed the small incident.
She sighed in relief.
Suddenly, her phone vibrated.

She hesitated, then answered, covering her mouth and lowering her voice. "Hello?"
"Is this Sam's parent? Sam got into a fight at school. Please come immediately!" The voice on the phone was urgent.
Melinda's face turned pale, and she stood up quickly, her chair scraping loudly.
"Ms. Lewis, I need to leave. It's an emergency," her voice trembled with maternal concern.
Raymond's reaction was just as swift, his eyes filled with worry as he looked at Melinda.
Raymond grabbed her wrist and led her out of the conference room, their steps quick and urgent.
The room was silent for a few seconds before everyone reacted.
They stared at Raymond's back, filled with curiosity.
What emergency? Raymond's unusual behavior during work hours sparked
speculation.
His intense reaction led them to a common guess.
Could it be that something happened to Melinda's son? Celestia's face darkened,
watching Raymond leave with a flash of resentment in her eyes.
Melinda was flaunting Raymond's care and favoritism, no, their favoritism. Celestia felt
a bitter anger and jealousy burning inside her.
She hated Melinda for deliberately provoking her.
Celestia's eyes glinted coldly.
Delilah cleared her throat, breaking the silence.
"Let's continue the meeting."
In the car, Melinda clutched her phone, nervously sitting in the back seat.
The teacher's voice on the phone had been unclear and urgent, without explaining
what had happened.
She quickly called back, but no one answered.
Melinda's heart couldn't settle.
The thought of the unknown made her feel suffocated. Raymond's grip on the steering
wheel was tight, his knuckles white and veins bulging.
Melinda felt the car speed increasing.
