Chapter 127: Suggestion Success
Dad, Stay Away from My Mom
Raymond leaned in, grabbing Melinda's wrists. "Getting shy now?"
Melinda was pinned by Raymond, unable to move. Her whole body was tense, and she started trembling uncontrollably.
Raymond's eyes darkened, a storm brewing in his gaze. "Your hint was pretty effective." With that, he moved in for a kiss. They kissed, but didn't go further.
Stuart had already taken care of the discharge paperwork. Once they left the hospital, he drove them back to Raymond's villa.
Melinda took a shower and changed clothes. When she came downstairs, Raymond was on the phone with Marshall.
"Mr. Banks, what's going on? Celestia went too far yesterday, she drugged me," Raymond said angrily.
"What? Raymond, Celestia was out of line. Even if she loves you, she shouldn't have done that!" Marshall immediately apologized. "Don't blame Celestia, she's just young and foolish."
"Because of you, I won't pursue this matter, but I don't want to see her again," Raymond said coldly.
"Raymond, I'm so sorry, it's my fault for not raising her better. I apologize," Marshall kept apologizing over the phone.
Raymond hung up and turned to see Melinda coming down the stairs. He quickly composed himself, his demeanor softening.
"What would you like to eat? I'll make it for you."
Melinda was surprised. "You can cook?"
"I can learn."
"Alright! I'll taste your cooking then."
Raymond busied himself in the open kitchen while Melinda relaxed on the couch, enjoying Raymond's personal service.
A cup of coffee was handed to her. "Ms. Sharp, enjoy."
Melinda nodded, taking a sip. It was the sweet flavor she liked. "The coffee is good."
Raymond was chopping fruit for a salad, with a steak already prepared beside him. The view outside was beautiful, and Raymond played soft music, creating a romantic atmosphere.
Raymond's steak-cooking skills were impressive, the aroma filling the air, the meat tender and juicy. With his homemade fruit salad, a simple meal was ready.
"So, how did you save me last night?" Raymond asked, raising an eyebrow with curiosity.
Melinda recounted the events of the previous night, frowning slightly. "You're usually so sharp, how did you fall for that?"
"Celestia had her father hand me a drink, and I drank it without suspicion."
"Looks like you'll need to be more careful in the future. There are plenty of women out there who want to get to you," Melinda thought to herself. Raymond needed to protect himself, especially with his good looks and physique.
"This won't happen again," Raymond said, his eyes narrowing with a flash of coldness. Even though last night was an accident, it showed he was always in danger.
"If it had been you setting the trap, even knowing it was a trap, I would have fallen for it," Raymond joked, half-serious.
"I wouldn't use such underhanded tactics," Melinda realized Raymond had been teasing her.
By noon, William arrived with Sam. Sam loved it there.
"Mommy, can we stay at Mr. Thomas's place for a few days, please?"
Melinda remembered the man's warning from the morning and wanted Sam to have a safe place. With winter break coming up, she didn't plan to send Sam to her mom's.
"Alright, as long as Mr. Thomas agrees, we can stay," Melinda nodded.
Sam immediately ran to Raymond, who was chatting with William in the side hall. Moments later, Sam came running back, beaming. "Mommy, Mr. Thomas said we can stay as long as we want!"

"Okay, but you have to behave while we're here," Melinda reminded him.
"Yes, Mommy, I will," Sam said happily, running back to Raymond.
Raymond and William emerged from their conversation, and William had to leave. After seeing him off, Raymond took Sam outside to play ball.
Meanwhile, in another villa, Emily looked at Nolan and asked, "Is everything done?" "Ms. Lowe, are you sure about this?" Nolan's tone was hesitant.
Emily's voice grew slightly annoyed. "What's the problem?"
"I've taken care of it," Nolan said, placing a miscarriage report in front of her. "Here."
Emily picked it up, pleased with the date on it, and smiled. "If there's nothing else, I'll be going."
Nolan wasn't sure if what he did was right or wrong. "Don't let anyone know about this."
"Don't worry," Nolan assured her.
Emily watched him leave, her eyes cold. Since Melinda had already had a child, Emily could use that to gain more favor for herself. She wanted Raymond to know that five years ago, she had lost a child for him, to increase his guilt.
Now, with the ultrasound and early pregnancy documents in hand, she could use them to gain Raymond's sympathy when the time was right. Emily took a deep breath and dialed Raymond's number.
"Hello!" Raymond's tone was impatient.
Emily suppressed her irritation, softening her voice. "Raymond, it's me. I... I'm not feeling well."
Raymond's tone remained cold. "I'll have Nolan take you to the hospital."

"It's just an old illness, Raymond. Can you come see me? Just this once..." Emily's voice was weak, making her sound genuinely ill.
Raymond didn't respond, making Emily anxious, but she had to keep up the act. "Raymond, every winter for the past five years, it flares up because..."
Emily's voice was frail, with a hint of tears. "Because of what?"
"Back then, we had a child."
Raymond's pupils dilated. "What did you say?"
Emily's voice lowered. "It was less than two months old. I'm sorry, I couldn't keep it."
Raymond was shocked, not expecting that he had caused Emily such pain, even leading to a miscarriage.
"I didn't know I was pregnant. By the time I found out, it was too late," Emily's sobs grew more sorrowful. "It's my fault... If I had known earlier, I would have kept it."
"Alright, don't cry. Maybe it was meant to be," Raymond comforted softly.
"Every winter, I feel cold all over. The doctor said it's because of the miscarriage. Raymond, I want to see you, now..." Emily cried on the phone. "Can you come see me? Please."
"Alright, I'm coming now," Raymond agreed, thinking it was his fault that Emily's health had deteriorated.
In the evening, Melinda was resting in her room when Raymond quietly opened the door. The room was dark, with moonlight streaming through the curtains, casting a cool shadow.
Melinda sensed the movement and turned. "What's up?"
Raymond closed the curtains, dimming the room further, then walked over to her. "I need to go out for a bit."
"Okay," Melinda nodded.
Raymond's deep eyes darkened, not wanting her to know too much, to keep her from getting hurt. "I might be back late," Raymond said before Melinda could ask.
