Chapter 141 Loss of Smell and Taste

Dad, Stay Away from My Mom

Melinda felt a warmth in her heart, making the air around her seem sweeter. She smiled softly, "I wasn't planning on taking Sam that day, there were just too many people."

"Perfect. If you don't mind, I'd like to take Sam to Grandpa's. He's been wanting to see him," Raymond suggested.

Melinda nodded, "I don't mind. Just ask Sam!"

Raymond was eager for Sam to spend time with Larry. With his busy work schedule, he rarely had time to visit, and Larry had raised him since he was a child.

When they mentioned it to Sam over lunch, he readily agreed.

Then he turned to Melinda and asked, "Mommy, are you going on a date with Mr. Thomas?"

"No, we're just attending a party," Melinda explained.

Raymond, however, teased, "Sam guessed right. We are going on a date."

"Then you two go on your date! I'll be good and wait for you at home," Sam said, more than happy to see them together.

Melinda was speechless. This kid worried like an adult.

After Raymond got up and washed, his hair fell messily over his forehead, giving him a

rugged charm. Not long after, Sam came downstairs with the same hairstyle.

Melinda chuckled. Winter mornings did make for uncontrollable bed hair.

"What's so funny?" Raymond asked, handing her a glass of milk.

"Sometimes I think you and Sam look quite alike."

Raymond glanced at the innocent-faced Sam and smiled, "That's called fate."

Melinda was speechless again.

Sam hugged Raymond's leg, looking up at him, "Mr. Thomas, when will I be as tall as

you?" Sam already had his face, now he wanted his height too.

Raymond handed him a glass of milk, "Eat well and drink lots of milk."

Sam nodded, taking the milk, "Okay, I'll drink it all."

"Sam, I need to go out for a bit. Listen to Mr. Thomas while I'm gone," Melinda said, having just received a message from Connie about something important.

"Great! I finally get to play with Mr. Thomas!"

"No, you can't!" Melinda warned Sam, "Mr. Thomas is very busy with work. You can't disturb him."

Raymond reassured Sam, "Don't worry, I'll play with you."

Melinda was speechless once more.

Sam raised an eyebrow at her, mimicking Raymond's expression perfectly.

Melinda was stunned.

Without a car, she couldn't go out, nor could she have the company car pick her up.

The only option was... "Um, I need to borrow your car."

She had no choice but to ask Raymond. He agreed readily and personally took her to the garage.

Standing in the underground garage, Melinda looked at the array of luxury sports cars, feeling a headache coming on.

All the cars were in cool, dark colors, clearly not suitable for her.

Raymond finally chose a car-a Maserati coupe.

Melinda adjusted the seat after getting in, while Raymond stood by the window, admiring her for a moment.

Once she was ready, Melinda drove off. The car was a head-turner on the street.

"Wow! Who's that? Driving a luxury car and looking so handsome! Must be someone rich!" Elsie exclaimed enviously.

The car had just passed by Elsie and Emily.

Emily stared after it, determined to reclaim her former lifestyle.

With her looks, she could easily attract a wealthy man, like the one driving that car.

They instinctively assumed the driver was a man, as such cars were usually driven by young, rich men.

"The car's pulling into that café. Let's go check it out," Elsie said excitedly.

Emily adjusted her hair. She was wearing one of Elsie's expensive outfits today.

She needed to get back to her old life to pay off her debts.

Her face was now stable, even if it was a disguise, she had turned herself into a beauty.

Would the man getting out of the car be attracted to her?

The two girls watched as the car parked. As they eagerly looked outside, expecting a handsome prince, the door opened, and Melinda stepped out.

Melinda didn't notice Elsie's car. She walked a few steps, then turned back to lock the car, which flashed its lights like a poised, elegant panther. The two girls exchanged jealous glances.

"Melinda? How can she drive such a nice car?"

Emily was furious.

Elsie remained calm. Melinda was Raymond's darling now. She could have anything she wanted. If she asked for an entire mall, Raymond would probably buy it for her.

"Get out, Emily," Elsie said, noticing Emily still in a daze.

Emily was debating whether to confront Melinda. Did she stand a chance?

But then she thought, what was there to fear? With her new face, she could rival

Melinda! She grabbed her bag and got out.

"Melinda doesn't know me yet, so it's best I stay hidden for now."

Elsie quickly moved several tables away. As Melinda came out, she bumped into Emily.

Melinda's expression darkened. What was Emily doing here?

Emily's tone was angry, "What, only you can come here? We can't?"

"Didn't expect you to afford this place. Did your dad help you pay off your debts?"

Melinda knew Emily had no money after being kicked out. She either asked Bobby for money or borrowed it.

"Melinda, who do you think you are? What does it matter to you?" Emily snapped. She blamed Melinda for her current situation.

Melinda's eyes flashed coldly, "Sure, whatever you say."

Emily caught the sarcasm and fumed, "Melinda, just wait. I'll pay you back double."

"Raymond didn't send you to jail. That's already more than enough. What more do you want to pay back?"

Melinda's voice was icy.

She never considered herself morally superior, but Emily had done too many bad things to deserve a good ending. She wouldn't allow it.

Elsie was confused by the conversation.

Emily's face was livid, glaring at Melinda as if she could burn a hole through her.

In the end, she could only watch as Melinda walked away.

Suddenly, a man's hand landed naturally on Emily's shoulder, "Melinda, wait..." Emily

turned in surprise, startling the man behind her.

Leo looked equally surprised at the girl who resembled Melinda.

He had mistaken her for Melinda.

"Sorry, I thought you were someone else," Leo apologized awkwardly.

Emily didn't mind. She recognized Leo immediately.

What had he called her?

Melinda?

Emily caught the slip.

It seemed Leo was close to Melinda!

"Leo? I'm Emily, Melinda's sister."

"You're Melinda's sister? Wow! I almost didn't recognize you."

Leo admired her stunning looks. She really did look like Melinda! For a moment, he

had thought she was Melinda.

He had fallen for Melinda at first sight, which was why he had rushed back to the country upon hearing she had returned.
