Chapter 158: Full of Doubts

Dad, Stay Away from My Mom

Finally, Leo picked up the phone, his face turning serious in an instant. "At the city hospital..."

After hanging up, Bobby anxiously urged him to drive faster, a hint of ruthlessness and determination in his eyes.

He knew Connie was on the brink of death, and he had to get her to sign the will before she passed.

Upon arriving at the hospital, Leo parked and let Bobby and Emily out first.

He pulled out the will he had prepared in advance. Connie was barely conscious, and

he pressed her hand onto the document to leave her fingerprint.

Half an hour later, Melinda and Raymond arrived at the hospital in a rush.

At the entrance to the emergency room, she saw a strange smile on Bobby's face.

Now, only Bobby stood there, his eyes filled with an indescribable anticipation, as if he was waiting for Connie to die so he could rightfully inherit the vast fortune.

"Raymond, what should I do?" Her voice was choked with tears.

"Don't cry, Melinda. I've already called someone. He's a friend and one of the top doctors in the country. Trust him; he can save Mrs. Lowe." Raymond's voice was firm and reassuring.

A few minutes later, a middle-aged man hurried in.

He wore a simple uniform, his face showing signs of fatigue but also determination.

He nodded slightly at Raymond before rushing into the emergency room. Melinda and Bobby were left outside, anxiously waiting.

The door was tightly shut, but Melinda felt as if she could see everything happening inside through the heavy door.

Her heartbeat was in sync with everything inside, each second feeling like an eternity.

Time seemed to stand still, the air thick with tension and gravity.

Melinda clasped her hands tightly, her eyes filled with determination and hope.

She believed the doctor Raymond had called would be able to save Connie. After what felt like forever, the door to the emergency room opened again. The middle-aged man removed his mask, revealing a resolute face. "We've stabilized her condition for now, but she hasn't regained consciousness. We'll conduct a full-body examination tomorrow morning and quickly decide on the next steps for surgery."

Melinda's body relaxed, and she let out a long sigh of relief.

Raymond stood behind her, holding her firmly to prevent her from collapsing, softly comforting her, "Melinda, don't worry. Mrs. Lowe will be okay, trust me!"

Melinda nodded, her face filled with sorrow.

Hearing this news, Bobby was stunned.

He hadn't expected Connie to survive this long. Wasn't the golden rescue time for a sudden heart attack supposed to be eight minutes?

"Damn woman, she's got nine lives!" he muttered angrily, his eyes flashing with frustration.

Suddenly, Bobby lunged at Melinda, raising his hand to strike her.

"It's all your fault! If it weren't for you, Connie wouldn't be like this!"

Raymond immediately stepped in to stop him, shouting angrily, "Touch her, and you'll regret it!"

Bobby continued to berate Melinda relentlessly.

Melinda only hoped Connie would be okay.

Raymond looked at Melinda with concern, knowing she must be feeling devastated.

He held her hand tightly, speaking gently, "Don't be afraid, I'm here."

Then, he turned and glared at Emily.

Raymond's tall figure stood there, his gaze sharp and menacing.

In that moment, Bobby felt a chill run up his spine, paralyzed by the powerful aura.

Leo quickly came over and pulled Bobby away, preventing an imminent conflict. Melinda stood to the side, her brows furrowed.

She questioned why Bobby had taken such a roundabout route when there was a hospital just ten minutes from the Lowe Villa.

Leo hastily explained that the ambulance had been stuck in traffic, so they drove themselves and got lost.

However, Bobby seized the opportunity to blame Melinda, putting all the fault on her and even demanding she call off the engagement.

Raymond firmly rejected their unreasonable demands, his gaze unwavering and resolute.

Melinda, worried about Connie's critical condition, wanted to transfer her to the Thomas Group's hospital, which had better medical equipment and conditions, and where Bobby wouldn't dare cause trouble.

"No way, I won't agree to it. If something happens, will you take responsibility? She's my wife now," Bobby and Emily vehemently opposed.

Melinda had no choice but to endure for the time being.

Connie was moved to the ICU, and Melinda could only watch helplessly through the glass as Connie lay there motionless.

Her heart was filled with pain and guilt, as if a heavy stone was pressing down on her chest, making it hard to breathe.

Bobby, on the other hand, was hoping for Connie's quick demise, a cold glint in his eyes.

Raymond gently held her shoulder, informing her that Sam had been sent to the old house to be cared for by Larry, ensuring his safety.

Melinda nodded gratefully, knowing she couldn't have managed without Raymond by her side.

Emily stood nearby, jealousy burning within her.

She watched Raymond's tender care for Melinda, filled with resentment and bitterness.

Leo brought water for everyone, but Raymond paid him no mind.

Half an hour later, three doctors from the Thomas Group's hospital arrived, including Zephyr.

Bobby, however, was secretly worried, fearing Connie's recovery and the exposure of his scheme.

Bobby, Emily, and Leo stood at the end of the hospital corridor, their faces grim.

He paced back and forth anxiously, occasionally glancing at the door to the operating

room.

When his eyes met those of Zephyr and the other doctors, a hint of caution flashed in

his eyes.

"You aren't doctors here; you have no authority to treat her," Bobby's voice was low and commanding, trying to drive them away.

Zephyr spoke calmly, "Mr. Lowe, consultations aren't limited to any one hospital. Besides, the director here is my friend, and the cooperation agreement will be ready soon."

Soon, Zephyr and the others entered the ICU. After a long wait, the door opened again.

Raymond stepped forward, his face serious. "How is she?"

"The situation isn't good. We've missed the golden rescue time. You should prepare yourselves; Mrs. Lowe is likely to become a vegetable. Her heart is 80% blocked. Why didn't you come to the hospital sooner?" Zephyr sighed.

Bobby was overjoyed; a vegetative state was almost as good as death to him, especially since the will had already been signed.

Melinda was struck as if by lightning, standing frozen in place, while Raymond was equally shocked and saddened.

Raymond held Melinda's hand, offering her a warm, comforting presence.

"Melinda, don't be afraid. We're here." Raymond's voice was low and firm, providing Melinda with a sliver of comfort.

Zephyr explained that Connie's condition was very critical.

They would observe her for three months before considering surgery.

But this method carried great risks, and the outcome was uncertain.

Raymond was silent for a moment, then resolutely said, "Use the best medication, spare no expense to save her."

His voice was soft but carried an undeniable authority.

Melinda felt a wave of emotion.

She held Raymond's hand tightly, tears welling up in her eyes.

"Raymond, thank you." Melinda's voice was choked with emotion.

Raymond gently patted her hand, speaking softly, "Silly, we're about to be married.

Mrs. Lowe's problems are my problems."

Just then, Melinda suddenly remembered something important.
