Chapter 159: Full of Doubts

Dad, Stay Away from My Mom

She looked up at the doctor and asked, "Doc, did my mom have any alcohol before the incident?"

Dr. Zephyr shook his head. "Nope, the tests showed no alcohol. She accidentally took some medication that made things worse. We found some residue on her teeth and are running more tests. Check what meds she usually takes and bring them to me."

Melinda was stunned by the news.

She felt guilty for not knowing about her mom's illness. She felt like she had failed as a daughter.

Determined, she decided to head to the Lowe Villa to find the medication bottles.

Bobby, who had overheard the doctor, was filled with fear.

He worried that Raymond might find out he had switched Connie's medication and retaliate against him.

He talked it over with Leo and decided to go home first to get rid of the swapped pills before making any further plans.

Raymond and Melinda left first, arriving at the Lowe Villa around 5 AM.

Fred, seeing them arrive, quickly came up to ask about Connie's condition.

Melinda had her suspicions but chose not to reveal them. She decided to wait until she had evidence before making any moves.

After questioning Fred about the incident, Melinda let out a cold laugh. She didn't believe Bobby would be so kind-hearted.

She suspected that Bobby and his daughter had deliberately delayed help to harm Connie.

Anger and sorrow welled up inside her, but she knew it wasn't the time to lose her temper. She needed to stay calm and find evidence.

Taking a deep breath, she asked, "Where does my mom keep her medication?"

Fred pointed to the TV cabinet in the living room. "Mrs. Lowe's meds are in that drawer."

Melinda walked over to the cabinet and opened it, finding various medication bottles istire

She picked up a bottle of heart medication, noting there were only a few pills left.

She rummaged through the other bottles, finding some blood pressure medication as well.

She knew Connie had high blood pressure.

She packed all the medications into her handbag and thanked Fred. "Fred, I'm taking these meds with me. Don't tell Bobby about this."

Fred nodded. "Got it."

As Melinda turned to leave, she ran into Bobby and Emily, who had just returned from the hospital.

"Stop! What did you take?" Bobby yelled, rushing to grab her handbag.

Melinda dodged him and coldly replied, "I took my mom's medication."

"Your mom's medication? Why are you taking it? I paid for those!" Bobby shouted, furious.

"You paid for them? These meds were bought by my mom! Even if you paid for them, I'm her daughter and have the right to take her things," Melinda retorted, unyielding. "You..." Bobby was at a loss for words and turned to Raymond for help. "Raymond, look at her! How can she treat me like this?"

Raymond glanced at Bobby, then at Melinda, and said coldly, "Melinda just took her mom's medication. Why are you so worked up?"

"I..." Bobby was speechless, glaring at Melinda before dragging Emily upstairs. Watching them disappear into the second-floor hallway, Melinda finally breathed a sigh of relief.

She turned to Raymond. "Thank goodness for you."

Raymond shook his head. "Don't mention it. What are you planning to do next?"

"I want to rest for a bit, then head to the lab," Melinda said, exhausted.

Raymond nodded, putting his arm around her shoulder as they left the Lowe Villa. Sitting in the car, Melinda felt increasingly heavy-hearted. Connie's incident was no simple accident. She had to uncover the truth!

Meanwhile, in a bedroom on the second floor of the Lowe Villa, Bobby was patting his chest, still shaken. "That was close! Melinda almost found out!"

"Don't worry, Dad. She won't dare do anything to us," Emily reassured him.

"You don't understand," Bobby snapped. "She may not do anything now, but once she marries Raymond, her status will change. We need to be careful."

Emily's eyes flashed with resentment. If it weren't for Melinda, she would be the one marrying Raymond. Who cared about Connie's shares?

But there was still time.

Back at the villa, Melinda lay in bed, unable to sleep. Her mind was filled with images of Connie's pale face and Bobby and Emily's hateful expressions.

The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. She had to find out what was going on with Connie's medication.

Just then, a soft knock on the door interrupted her thoughts. "Melinda, are you awake?" It was Raymond's voice.

Melinda paused, then got up to open the door. "Why aren't you asleep?"

Raymond looked at her bloodshot eyes and tired face, feeling a pang of sorrow. "I saw you weren't sleeping. Are you feeling unwell?"

Melinda shook her head. "I'm fine. I just need a few days to rest." Her eyes reddened as she spoke.

"Raymond, my mom is the closest person to me. I don't want to lose her," Melinda said, her voice choked with emotion.

Raymond gently patted her hand and said softly, "She won't leave you. I promised to do whatever it takes to save her."

He pulled her into a comforting embrace.

"Okay."

The next morning, the first rays of sunlight filtered through the curtains.

It was already 8 AM. Today was the day Connie was being transferred to the Thomas Group hospital.

She couldn't be late. After getting ready, she walked out of her room and ran into Raymond, who was just coming back inside. "You're up? I was about to wake you."

"I'm heading to the hospital," Melinda said, grabbing her bag and heading out.

"I'll go with you," Raymond said, following her out the door.

They hurried to the Thomas Group hospital.

An ambulance sped through the gates of the Thomas Group hospital, stopping at the emergency room entrance. Connie was carried out and taken to a VIP room.

Bobby, having received a call, rushed over. Seeing Connie unconscious on the bed, his face darkened.

"What happened? Who brought her here?" he yelled at a nearby nurse.

The nurse, startled, quickly explained, "We don't know. We just received orders from above."

"Damn it!" Bobby roared. "I'm taking her out of here right now!" He pulled out his phone and dialed a number.

Meanwhile, Melinda was busy signing Connie's admission papers.

Suddenly, she heard angry shouting behind her.

"Melinda! How dare you bring your mom to the Thomas Group hospital! What are you up to?"

Stuart, standing nearby, frowned and pointed to the advanced medical equipment around them. "Our hospital has top-notch facilities and staff. Mrs. Connie Lowe will receive the best care here. There's no need to worry, Mr. Bobby Lowe."

Bobby, however, looked anxious and uneasy. He rubbed his hands together, his eyes darting around. "You can't transfer her without my consent. Send her back, or I'll sue you."

If she recovered here, his plan would be ruined.

Stuart frowned, surprised by Bobby's audacity.
