Chapter 162 The Will is Questioned

Dad, Stay Away from My Mom

He knew Melinda wasn't the real threat; it was the man behind her, Raymond.

He stood up and walked over to Bobby, his voice low and commanding, "Ms. Sharp, the will has your mother's signature and fingerprint. Feel free to investigate anytime." Bobby got up and stormed out of the conference room.

Melinda didn't have any solid evidence at the moment, so she had to let it go.

After leaving the Lowe Group, she headed back to the hospital. Raymond was standing

by the window, his figure looking especially tall in the afternoon sunlight.

Hearing footsteps, he turned around and saw Melinda walking in with a serious

expression. Concern flickered in his eyes.

"They didn't give you a hard time, did they?" His voice instantly soothed the turmoil in Melinda's heart.

Melinda shook her head, forcing a slight smile, "I'm fine, just a bit tired."

She handed the copy of the will to Raymond, "Take a look at this."

Raymond took the will and examined it carefully. Then he looked up and said, "This will doesn't seem suspicious, but..."

"But what?" Melinda's mind was in chaos, unable to think clearly.

His eyes were serious, "Why is the date seven days ago? That's too much of a coincidence. Did Mrs. Lowe know about her illness before making the will? It was so rushed, and Emily has an equal share of the stocks as you."

"Are you suggesting that Bobby and Emily might have harmed my mother to take over the company? This will could be the only clue my mother left." Melinda felt a sudden realization.

Indeed, why hadn't she thought of that when she was at the Lowe Group?

Raymond's deep eyes flashed with a barely noticeable cold light.

He gently patted Melinda's shoulder and said softly, "Don't worry, I'll have the company lawyer take another good look at it." His voice carried a sense of reassurance.

In the hospital corridor, Bobby and Emily walked quickly, their faces full of unease and anxiety, as if shrouded in a dark cloud.

A spy they had planted in the hospital reported that Connie might wake up.

"Dad, what if Connie really wakes up?" Emily's voice trembled, revealing deep fear.

Bobby was silent for a moment, a sinister look flashing in his eyes, "She won't wake up that easily." However, his words carried a hint of uncertainty.

Inside the doctor's office, Melinda and Zephyr were talking, "Zephyr, when will my mom wake up?" Melinda's voice was filled with anticipation and tension.

Zephyr smiled slightly and said slowly, "Ms. Sharp, your mother's body is gradually recovering, and the toxins in her system are decreasing. She should wake up soon."

"Really?" Melinda asked in surprise.

Zephyr confirmed it.

Outside the door, Bobby and Emily looked as if they had been struck by lightning, their faces turning extremely grim.

Bobby clenched his fists, a mix of anger and despair in his eyes. He couldn't believe that today's plan had failed. He regretted not listening to Leo and being too soft-

hearted with Connie. Otherwise, Connie would have been dead by now.

He could only curse under his breath, "Damn woman, tough luck."

As Melinda walked out of the doctor's office, she saw Bobby and Emily.

Her heart tightened, but she quickly regained her composure.

"What's wrong? Are you worried about my mom, afraid she'll wake up suddenly?" Bobby's face darkened with anger.

"What are you talking about? I'm still your father, aren't I? Is this how you talk to your elders?" Bobby growled.

Melinda's gaze was calm and firm, showing no sign of retreat or fear.

Since that incident five years ago, she had severed all ties with the Lowe Family. "Emily, let's go."

After leaving the hospital, Bobby immediately called Leo. Leo listened, his brows furrowed. After a moment of contemplation, he said slowly, "Don't act rashly for now. I'll think of something."

Leo's mind kept replaying Melinda and Zephyr's conversation.

Fear gripped him like an invisible hand, choking him. He was terrified that if Connie woke up, he would lose everything and be utterly disgraced.

Meanwhile, Melinda had already set her next plan in motion.

She had Stuart keep an eye on Bobby and Emily, waiting for them to slip up so they could catch them red-handed.

The city lights shone brightly under the night sky, but they couldn't illuminate the darkness and fear in Bobby's heart. Melinda, on the other hand, was like a leopard, silently lurking in the shadows, waiting for her prey to walk into the trap...

Bobby was eager to finalize Emily and Leo's marriage. He knew Leo was an ambitious man, but that was exactly what he needed a son-in-law who could take over the Lowe Group and make it thrive.

Although Emily was reluctant, the thought of a carefree life in the future made her agree to the marriage.

The day before they were to get their marriage license, Bobby was suddenly taken away by the police, suspected of economic crimes.

Emily stood at the empty doorway, watching Bobby's departing figure, her heart filled with resentment.

She believed Melinda had framed Bobby and decided to marry Leo as soon as possible to use his power to avenge Bobby.

After the wedding, Leo couldn't wait to take over the Lowe Group.

He appeared gentle and considerate to Emily, but secretly, he was plotting a scheme...

He planned to transfer funds and eventually bankrupt the Lowe Group.

Melinda received a call from the Lowe Group's sales manager, asking her to attend an emergency meeting.

She walked into the conference room and saw Emily sitting at the front. She felt a pang of suspicion but quickly regained her composure and took her seat.

During the meeting, Emily announced her marriage to Leo and stated that Leo would be managing the Lowe Group's affairs.

Leo pretended to be humble, giving a speech that won the support of some shareholders.

The atmosphere in the conference room was so tense it felt like it could be cut with a

knife.

Melinda sat in a corner. Suddenly, she stood up, her voice clear and strong, breaking the silence, "I want to join the finance department."

Emily was taken aback, seemingly not expecting Melinda to make such a request.

She frowned and immediately refused, "The finance department is a crucial part of the company. Not just anyone can enter."

However, Melinda didn't back down.

She took a deep breath, looked Emily straight in the eye, and said, "I hold shares in the Lowe Group. I have the right to be involved in the company's management."

The air in the conference room seemed to freeze at that moment.

Everyone was shocked, watching the confrontation between Melinda and Emily. They waited to see what would happen next.

But Melinda didn't give Emily another chance.
