Chapter 18: The Malicious Plan

Dad, Stay Away from My Mom

Emily's eyes sparkled with excitement when she heard the suggestion, "Yeah! Why didn't I think of that? If Melinda loses Sam, goes crazy, or even tries to kill herself, then I'll be at ease."

Elsie smiled, "Emily, you absolutely can't let her take your family's assets. Your stepmother Connie runs to her house every day, who knows how much money she's given her. If you keep waiting, it'll be too late. You have to show Melinda your power and make her leave Shadow City as soon as possible."

Emily was delighted, "Yes, I must warn her, or she'll really think we're easy to bully." After saying that, she hung up the phone and began to ponder how to implement this malicious plan.

After hanging up the phone, Emily felt that the plan was flawless.

If Sam was taken away, Melinda would live in endless pain and guilt for the rest of her life, and Raymond would also disappear from her world forever.

Malice surged in Emily's heart. She decided to bribe someone from a lab to help her carry out the plan, so she frequently visited the lab, secretly observing and looking for a suitable candidate.

Finally, she found an opportunity to meet with an intern, Lena Kelly, at a café.

Lena had just started graduate school, had no connections, and came from a poor family.

Lena was flattered. She knew Emily was Raymond's girlfriend and the future CEO's wife.

If she could get close to Emily, she might be able to stay after her internship.

"Ms. Lowe, what can I do for you?" Lena's voice was filled with excitement and anticipation.

Emily smiled slightly and raised her head arrogantly, "You have good abilities. It's not difficult to get a permanent position, but I have a small condition."

Lena was excited and immediately expressed her willingness, "Ms. Lowe, please tell me. As long as it's something I can do, I'll do my best."

Emily lowered her voice and said, "I want you to keep an eye on Melinda. I need to know her every move."

Lena had long been jealous of Melinda. Melinda had made many mistakes before but always got away with it. If it were her, she would have been sent back to school long ago.

So she agreed without hesitation.

In the following days, Lena did not disappoint. She became Emily's eyes and ears in the company, constantly reporting Melinda's every move.

However, Melinda was completely unaware of all this and continued to work as usual.

One day during a meeting, the empty seat made Melinda breathe a sigh of relief. She simply didn't want to see Raymond.

However, fate always seemed to play tricks. Just when she thought she could have a peaceful meeting, Raymond pushed the door open and entered. His presence made the atmosphere in the conference room tense.

Melinda played with her pen out of boredom, accidentally letting it roll to Raymond's side. She awkwardly stood up to retrieve it, but when she looked up and met his deep eyes, her heart involuntarily sped up.

Raymond looked at her, a faint glimmer in his eyes, showing no intention of returning the pen.

Melinda bit her lip and had to walk over.

Under everyone's gaze, she blushed and took back her pen.

Everyone present saw this scene, and Lena was especially jealous. Delilah cleared her throat, breaking the awkward atmosphere, and the meeting continued.

When dividing into groups, Delilah deliberately paired Melinda and Lena together, hoping to create more opportunities for them to interact. Lena pretended to be happy with the arrangement, while Melinda smiled slightly, indicating her welcome.

However, behind this smile, a storm was brewing.

After the meeting, Melinda hurriedly packed her things, eager to leave the suffocating conference room.

What she didn't know was that this meeting was just the beginning. In the coming days, she would face more challenges and trials.

Just as Melinda was about to step out the door, Raymond's voice suddenly rang out like a ghost, "Melinda, stay."

Melinda's steps halted abruptly. She turned around, her eyebrows furrowed, looking at the cold-faced Raymond, "Mr. Thomas, what do you want?"

Raymond didn't answer immediately. He just stared at her with his deep eyes, as if trying to see through her.

Seeing this, the surrounding colleagues quickly exited the conference room, leaving the two of them alone.

Standing outside the door, Tenley and Lena were filled with jealousy.

They couldn't understand why Melinda always received special treatment from

Raymond. She was the only one in the lab treated this way.

The conference room door slowly closed with a soft click.

Melinda took a deep breath, mustering the courage to meet Raymond's gaze, "Raymond, what do you want me to do?"

Raymond looked at her calmly, his voice low and powerful, carrying an undeniable authority, "Next Monday, I want to take you to meet my grandfather."

Melinda was stunned. She hadn't expected Raymond to make such a request. Instinctively, she wanted to refuse, but the words that came out were, "Why should I meet your grandfather? I have nothing to do with the Thomas family."

"Name your terms." Raymond leaned back in his chair lazily, his eyes revealing an unyielding determination.

Melinda felt a wave of frustration. She waved her hand, "Raymond, do you think I'm like those women who want to marry into the Thomas family for benefits?" "Benefits? I'm willing." Raymond snorted coldly.

"You... aren't you angry at all?" Melinda gritted her teeth, feeling her patience wearing thin.

"Wait for me after work on Monday. You know, running away is useless. I can still find you." Raymond's voice rang out again, like an iron command, "You will meet him, whether you want to or not."

Melinda glared at him angrily, then turned and slammed the door as she left.

Behind her, Raymond's face was as dark as water, his eyes flickering with a complex emotion.

Back in the office, Lena immediately approached, fawning, "Melinda, can I write the experimental data report with you this time?"

Melinda nodded, "Sure, make sure to put your name on it. It'll be good for your future job placement." After saying that, she began her busy work.

Lena was slightly stunned. Melinda had seen through her little scheme. She indeed planned to use this for her graduation thesis in six months. Being seen through made her feel uneasy, but also a bit excited.

Meanwhile, Emily was lazily sitting on the sofa, enjoying a morning glass of wine. She was dressed in high-end pajamas, exuding the aura of a wealthy lady. However, a sudden phone call shattered this tranquility.
