Chapter 21: Meeting Gift
Dad, Stay Away from My Mom
Melinda struggled, a hint of annoyance in her voice, "I've never met a man as
unreasonable as you!"
Raymond, in front of her, seemed not to hear her words and calmly pressed the car lock.
Melinda was trapped inside the car, and with the time to pick up Sam approaching, she had no time to argue with him.
She quickly fastened her seatbelt, her tone unfriendly, "Raymond, even though you're my boss and have helped me, please respect my choices!"
Raymond stared straight ahead, his voice cold, "If you listened, I wouldn't have to intervene."
"Why should I listen to you?" Melinda was angered by his presumptuous attitude. Raymond glanced at her, self-righteously, "I'm not used to being refused."
Melinda was almost infuriated by Raymond. She had seen countless domineering CEO dramas but never thought such a cliché plot would happen to her.
She took a deep breath, trying to calm her emotions, and asked irritably, "Is your girlfriend Emily out of her mind?"
She couldn't understand how a man like Raymond could be interested in a woman like Emily.
Raymond frowned slightly, a hint of displeasure in his voice, "She's not my girlfriend, just someone I need to take care of."
"You two were hugging and cuddling, and you still deny it?" Melinda sneered.
Raymond was silent for a moment, his voice somewhat low, "That's between her and me."
His tone made Melinda even more convinced of her thoughts. She snorted coldly and said no more. In her view, there must be something shady between Raymond and Emily.
At that moment, Raymond suddenly accelerated, and Melinda, frightened, clutched her seatbelt and exclaimed, "Raymond, are you crazy!"
Raymond curled his lips into a teasing smile, "I thought you were brave?"
Melinda glared at him fiercely. Why did Raymond always mock her whenever he spoke? "Being brave doesn't mean not being afraid of death!" she retorted without hesitation.
Raymond wasn't angry; instead, he sneered.
He slowed the car down, making it drive smoothly, while Melinda turned her head away, ignoring him.
The car slowly arrived at the entrance of the Thomas Villa. Through the car window, Melinda's gaze fell on the imposing gate. Although she had heard of the Thomas family's prominence and wealth, seeing it in person was still overwhelming.
Tall and solemn, it exuded an indescribable aura of majesty.
She adjusted her clothes, took a deep breath, and followed Raymond inside.
As they walked through the garden, she saw the rare plants and flowers, further
solidifying her resolve that this place was not for her.
In the pavilion, Larry was chatting with Emily.
When the servant announced Raymond's return, Emily's eyes flashed with surprise and resentment upon seeing Raymond and Melinda together.
But she quickly masked her emotions and walked over with a smile.
"Raymond, why are you back so late?" She coquettishly glanced at Raymond and then turned to Melinda, "Melinda, you're here too. It's been a while."
Melinda coldly laughed inside at her fake smile.
A while? Didn't they just meet recently? Emily was really good at lying.

Raymond looked at Emily with a hint of displeasure. He didn't know why Emily suddenly appeared.
"What are you doing here?" he asked coldly.
Emily was slightly stunned, then lowered her head in grievance, "I'm sorry, Raymond.
As your girlfriend, I should visit Mr. Thomas. Are you unhappy? I..."
Before she could finish, Raymond interrupted angrily, "Enough! I'll have the driver take you back to the hospital."
Emily trembled in fear, not daring to say anything more.
Melinda watched Emily quietly. Emily was too impatient, coming directly to the Thomas family.
Knowing Raymond, it was impossible for her plan to work. She waited to see how Emily would end this.
Larry frowned slightly, coughed lightly, and broke the awkward atmosphere. "Raymond, guests are guests. When did the Thomas family become so rude?" He then turned to Melinda.
"Ms. Sharp, welcome. You are an esteemed guest. Last time, the people I sent were too presumptuous. I scolded them for their lack of tact. Did they scare you? Come, sit!" Larry smiled kindly, patting the chair beside him, signaling Melinda to sit.
Melinda was surprised and said apologetically, "I'm sorry, Mr. Thomas. I was too anxious last time. I hadn't been back for many years and was worried about encountering scammers, so... I should be the one apologizing. I've just been too busy with work lately!"
"Hmph! Melinda, you really are something. You lack manners. Our family is very strict about etiquette. Your behavior makes others think we lack upbringing," Emily said sarcastically.
Larry was taken aback, curiously looking at Melinda and Emily, "You two are sisters? Why do you have different last names?"
Melinda was about to explain when Emily quickly interjected with a smile, "Mr. Thomas, actually, Melinda and I are half-sisters. Connie remarried into our family, so we became sisters, but we don't share the same last name. She was always disobedient, often playing with lowly people. A few years ago, she ran off with another man without a word."

Emily knew that in the Thomas Villa, Melinda wouldn't dare to lay a hand on her, nor lose her temper in front of Larry.
Sure enough, Melinda glared at her but didn't dare to speak.
"Enough. If there's nothing else, go back to the hospital. Grandpa has something to discuss with Melinda," a cold, merciless voice came. Raymond couldn't listen any longer and directly shouted.
"Raymond, what are you doing? Ms. Lowe is also a guest. Don't be rude," Larry said, his gaze deep, lightly rubbing a smooth gemstone ring.
"Ms. Lowe, this is for you." He handed the ring to Emily.
Emily took the ring, feeling its weight in her palm. Looking down, she saw it was a deep green, intricately carved with elegant patterns, appearing ancient and refined.
"This is..." Emily looked at Larry, full of confusion.
Larry smiled faintly, "A small token, consider it a first meeting gift."
"Mr. Thomas, then I won't refuse." Emily raised her chin, giving Melinda a provocative
look.
Raymond's eyes narrowed, about to speak, but Larry stopped him with a glance.
"Roy, see Ms. Lowe out."
He then said softly.
Roy stepped out from behind Raymond, slightly bowing, "Ms. Lowe, please follow me."
Emily, satisfied, followed Roy's steps and left.
