Chapter 210 Qiana's Personal Warning

Dad, Stay Away from My Mom

"Alright, I'll be there ASAP." She quickly gave Claire a few instructions and rushed to the hospital.

The atmosphere in the hospital was tense.

Raymond stood in the hallway, anxiously waiting for news from the doctor.

Roy stood beside him, speaking in a low voice, "Mr. Raymond, Mr. Larry fainted while trimming the flowers. There was no one around."

At that moment, the specialist glanced at Raymond and shook his head. "Mr. Raymond, Mr. Larry's condition has worsened. We recommend surgery, but Mr. Larry has refused."

Raymond's eyes widened with fear. "How much time does he have?"

The doctor was silent for a few seconds. "Just a couple of days. You should prepare yourselves."

When Melinda arrived at the hospital, she saw the hallway filled with people. She hurried over and grabbed Raymond's hand. "Raymond, how's Grandpa?" "Grandpa wants to see you." Raymond's voice was hoarse and trembling. Melinda's heart sank. She walked into the room and saw Larry lying in bed. Larry's face looked terrible, but his eyes were unusually clear.

"Melinda's here," he said weakly. "Come, sit down."

Melinda walked over, sat down, and held Larry's hand. "Grandpa, how are you feeling?" "I'm fine," Larry smiled. "Melinda, I'm just worried about Raymond. If I leave, you have to take good care of him for me."

Melinda's eyes reddened. "You'll be fine. You still need to see Sam grow up."

"Silly child," Larry gently patted her hand. "I know my own body. My only wish is for you all to be happy. Melinda, promise me, no matter what happens, you'll stay by Raymond's side, okay?"

"Okay," Melinda sobbed. "I will."

Larry lay in bed, his face already gray, but his eyes still sharp and determined.

He reached out his trembling hand and held Melinda's.

Larry then turned to Raymond. "Raymond, you must take good care of her. Don't let her be mistreated."

Raymond nodded solemnly. "I know, Grandpa."

His gaze swept around the room and finally rested on Sam.

He opened his mouth as if to say something, but in the end, he closed his eyes.

Melinda knew Larry didn't want to scare the child, so she softly said to Sam, "Sam, great-grandpa needs to rest. Let's go outside."

Sam nodded understandingly and followed Melinda out of the room.

Larry's condition worsened, but his mind remained clear.

He knew his time was short, so he made sure to explain everything clearly.

Just before dawn, Larry suddenly woke up.

A strange smile appeared on his face. "I'm leaving."

With that, he slowly closed his eyes, and his hand fell.

"Grandpa!"

Raymond and Melinda cried out simultaneously, their tears flowing instantly.

The room was filled with the sound of crying, everyone immersed in grief.

Outside, the sky gradually brightened, but the hearts of the Thomas family felt shrouded in a heavy darkness.

William took Sam to preschool. Sam tugged at his coat, looking worried. "Mr. Barnett, where did great-grandpa go?"

William's heart tightened. He knelt down and gently hugged Sam. "Great-grandpa went to a very faraway place. He might not come back."

"A faraway place? Can I go see him?" Sam's eyes were filled with confusion and hope.

William's eyes grew hot. He held back his tears and shook his head. "No, but you can think of him in your heart. Great-grandpa will feel it."

With that, he stood up, took a deep breath, and walked out of the classroom.

Larry's death quickly spread throughout Shadow City.

Vaughn heard the news and couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.

He had always coveted the Thomas Group's assets. Now that Larry was gone, he finally had a chance to get a piece of the pie.

An idea formed in his mind.

"Gwyneth, if you have a moment, head over to the hospital and keep Raymond company," Vaughn said, his tone loaded with implication. "You two have a history, after all."

Gwyneth's expression shifted slightly. She knew exactly what Vaughn was getting at.

Even though it felt a bit sneaky to go after the inheritance this way, she couldn't shake off Melinda's warnings and everything Melinda had taken from her. Resentment bubbled up inside her.

"I get it, Dad," Gwyneth said through clenched teeth. "I won't let you down."

She had to use Raymond as her leverage! Many in the Thomas family were eyeing the Thomas Group's assets, like Rhett and his father Heath. She needed to strategize carefully to outmaneuver them!

Larry's passing plunged the entire Thomas family into deep sorrow.

Raymond personally handled the funeral arrangements, his eyes revealing a mix of determination and grief. Teresa silently assisted him.

Melinda, overwhelmed by grief, looked pale, her eyes red and swollen, her body weak. Claire watched her with a complex mix of emotions.

She thoughtfully prepared a bowl of light porridge and brought it to Melinda. "Mrs. Thomas, the dead can't come back. You need to pull yourself together. Larry wouldn't want to see you like this."

Melinda nodded slightly at Claire's words, forcing herself to drink the porridge. Following Raymond's instructions, Claire stayed by Melinda's side, not leaving her for a moment, afraid something might happen to her.

During this time, Claire's phone kept vibrating. She glanced at the screen; it was Dennis calling.

After a moment's hesitation, Claire hung up and put her phone on silent, continuing to stay with Melinda.

By the time she finally had a moment to herself, her phone had died and shut off automatically.

Larry was cremated but not immediately buried. His ashes were temporarily kept at the Thomas Villa.

Only then did Claire have some time to herself.

In the evening, as Claire approached her home, a group of men in black suits blocked

her path.

Claire instinctively frowned and was about to ask when a dignified elderly woman approached.

She smiled kindly at Claire. "You must be Claire? I'm Mrs. Gonzalez."

"Gonzalez?" Claire was momentarily stunned. She hadn't expected Mrs. Gonzalez to come to her personally.

Though she felt a bit nervous, Claire remained composed and followed Qiana into the

car.

The car was filled with a faint sandalwood scent. Qiana, with a kind face, smiled at Claire.

Qiana looked at Claire with a gentle gaze.

"I heard you're with Dennis?" She smiled faintly, but there was a coldness in her eyes. "You know he has a fiancée, and someone like you could never enter the Gonzalez Villa."

Facing Qiana's condescending attitude, Claire remained unyielding, her eyes showing a hint of defiance. "Mrs. Gonzalez, I know Dennis's future is already planned by the family, but that's not my future. If that's what you wanted to say, then let me tell you, I decide my own future."

Her voice was gentle yet carried an undeniable firmness.

Qiana smiled. "Ms. Murphy, such bold words. I want to see what you're capable of."

Claire nodded slightly. "Mrs. Gonzalez, rest assured, I won't cling to Mr. Dennis Gonzalez."

Claire pressed her lips together, feeling a surge of complex emotions.

Qiana nodded slightly, seemingly satisfied with her response.

"Very well, Ms. Murphy. If you can make Dennis lose interest in you within three days,

I'll offer you compensation."

Claire smiled, but it was tinged with bitterness.

"There's no need, Mrs. Gonzalez. My relationship with Mr. Gonzalez isn't something

that can be measured by money." With that, she stood up and gracefully left the café.

Walking home, Claire felt an overwhelming heaviness in her heart.

She knew she and Dennis would eventually have to draw a clear line.
