Chapter 215 Pretend Boyfriend

Dad, Stay Away from My Mom

Claire's cheeks turned bright red in an instant. She lowered her head, embarrassed, and mumbled, "I get it... I'll change."

Dennis watched her shy demeanor, a satisfied smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "Good."

Claire's head dipped even lower, her heart pounding like a drum.

"By the way, how's it going working under Melinda?" Dennis asked casually.

"It's fine. Mrs. Thomas takes good care of me." Claire glanced up at him quickly before lowering her eyes again.

"Yeah, she's a good boss. You'll learn a lot from her." Dennis nodded. "If you run into any trouble, you can come to me."

"No need, thank you, Mr. Gonzalez." Claire quickly declined.

Dennis didn't say anything more, just watched her quietly as she ate.

After the meal, Claire hurriedly left the restaurant.

Dennis stood at the restaurant door, watching her figure grow smaller and smaller until she disappeared from sight.

The next morning, Melinda opened her eyes to find the spot next to her empty. She reached out to touch it; it was cold.

A faint sense of loss washed over her. She slipped on her slippers and lazily walked out of the bedroom, but the sounds coming from the kitchen quickly dispelled her feelings.

Seeing Raymond busy in the kitchen, a warm feeling surged in Melinda's heart. She tiptoed up behind him and hugged him tightly from behind, pressing her cheek against his back.

His back was solid and strong, giving her an inexplicable sense of security.

"Honey, you're the best," she said, her voice filled with the lazy dependence of someone who had just woken up, like a kitten being affectionate.

Raymond's body stiffened slightly, then he turned around.

He looked down at her, his eyes full of affection and tenderness.

He gently kissed her forehead, his voice deep and magnetic. "Go wash up. Breakfast is almost ready."

Melinda nodded, let go, and turned towards the bathroom, a happy smile on her face. Raymond stood there, watching her leave with a deep gaze.

It wasn't until her light figure disappeared into the bathroom that he slowly withdrew his gaze, a doting smile on his lips. After breakfast, with the sun shining brightly, Raymond took Melinda and Sam to the Thomas Group stables.

Sam was excited the whole way, chattering non-stop, his eyes sparkling with curiosity and anticipation for the unknown.

As soon as they arrived at the stables, Sam couldn't wait to break free from Raymond's hand and run towards the horses in the paddock.

He quickly picked out a bright-colored, six-month-old foal, his eyes full of love.

Raymond watched Sam's excited expression, a smile once again spreading across his face.

He walked over, squatted down, and lifted Sam onto the horse's back.

Sam sat on the horse, his small hands gripping the reins tightly, a happy smile on his face.

Raymond led the horse, walking slowly around the small paddock.

He occasionally bent down to say a few words to Sam, his voice gentle and doting. Melinda sat on a nearby terrace, her gaze soft as she watched the heartwarming scene. "Dad, look at me! Am I doing well?" Sam called out proudly from the horse's back. "Very well. You're a brave little knight," Raymond responded with a smile. Melinda watched this scene, her heart filled with warmth and emotion.

She knew that no matter what difficulties and challenges the future held, as long as Raymond and Sam were by her side, she would have endless courage and strength. The three of them spent a warm and beautiful afternoon at the stables.

Sunlight bathed them, as if wrapping them in a golden halo.

Their laughter and joyful voices echoed across the vast stables, lingering for a long time...

Meanwhile, Claire had taken the day off work and was riding in her friend John Williams' car, heading to Dennis's villa.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" John asked Claire as he drove. "Can you really let go of a guy like Dennis?"

"What's there to hold on to?" Claire looked out the window, her voice flat. "We were never from the same world."

"But..." John started to say something, but Claire cut him off.

"No buts. Just drive," Claire urged.

John had no choice but to keep quiet.

The car stopped in front of Dennis's villa. Claire sent Dennis a message to confirm he was home, then got out and walked in.

John followed her out of the car, looking up at the villa and couldn't help but marvel, "This place is incredible. Dennis must be loaded."

Just as he said that, Dennis walked out of the villa.

John instinctively wanted to straighten his clothes and hair, but had no chance, so he just stood up straight and walked over.

"Hi, I'm John." He extended his hand to Dennis.

Dennis glanced at him, his gaze moving past him to Claire. "What are you doing here?"

"I'm here to pack my things," Claire said bluntly, then walked straight into the villa.

"Wait."

Dennis called after her. "Who is he?"

"My boyfriend." Claire took John's arm.

"Boyfriend?" Dennis frowned. "Why didn't I know?"

"I didn't tell you." Claire's smile faded slightly. "Don't meddle. I'll be done soon."

Seeing Claire's nonchalant attitude, an inexplicable anger rose in Dennis's heart.

He instinctively grabbed Claire's wrist. "What do you mean?"

"Let go."

Claire tried to pull her hand away. "Don't make a scene."

"Explain it to me." Dennis tightened his grip. "What happened? Everything was fine yesterday."

"Mr. Gonzalez, that's what you thought." Claire looked up at him. "Don't think that just because you gave the company back to my family and paid off our debts, I owe you my life. This isn't the old days."

"Did my grandmother talk to you?"

"No, I just don't want to deceive you." Hearing this, Dennis finally let go of her hand.

Claire took John's arm and walked into the villa.

Watching their backs, Dennis's face turned cold, his hands clenched tightly.

John fell silent, not daring to say a word.

Claire packed her things in the guest room, the atmosphere a bit tense.

John accidentally opened a drawer, revealing neatly arranged underwear. He blushed

in embarrassment and hurriedly tried to close it.

Claire cleared her throat to ease the awkwardness, pretending to be calm as she asked John to help pack the underwear.

John awkwardly bent down, but tripped over the suitcase handle, losing his balance and falling forward.

Claire quickly caught him, but they ended up in a very suggestive position on the bed.

John's face was close to Claire's neck, and he could feel the softness and warmth of her

skin.

Claire was also stunned, instinctively wrapping her arms around John's neck to prevent herself from falling.

Just then, footsteps sounded outside the door.

Claire's heart tightened. She didn't want Dennis to see this.

So, she pulled John's head towards her and whispered, "Quick, kiss my forehead. Let's pretend we're being intimate."

John hesitated but complied.

His lips lightly touched Claire's forehead just as the door was suddenly pushed open.

Dennis stood at the door, his gaze icy as he looked at the two on the bed.

His eyes were filled with anger and disappointment, as if he had seen something he shouldn't have.
