Chapter 239: Cancel the Wedding, Marry Another Woman
Dad, Stay Away from My Mom
Claire didn't want to mess up his wedding, so she pushed him away, insisting she could handle herself, and tried to shut the door.
Dennis shoved the door open, determined to take her with him.
Just then, a servant rushed upstairs to tell him that Qiana was waiting for him to have breakfast, and they were running out of time to get to the wedding venue.
Dennis glared at the stubborn Claire, threatening her to come with him.
Hearing that Qiana was waiting downstairs, Claire became even more resolute in refusing his help. Seeing this, Dennis stormed off in anger.
Watching him leave, Claire held back her tears and closed the door. Standing by the window, bathed in sunlight, she looked fragile and broken.
Downstairs in the hall, Dennis sat with Qiana for breakfast. She asked him a few questions but noticed he was distracted, staring blankly and barely eating.
Qiana asked, "What's on your mind?" Dennis snapped out of it and gave a half-hearted response, then quickly claimed he was full.
The group moved through the lobby to the parking lot, where dozens of luxury cars were parked. The extended Rolls-Royce wedding car stood out prominently.
Dennis was supposed to go to the Price Villa to pick up Ivy. After a few reminders from Qiana, she got into the car and left first. Dennis, however, lingered by the car door, looking towards a window, deep in thought. After a few seconds, he told the bodyguard to wait and hurried back into the hall.
Upstairs, Claire was feeling feverish and miserable. She had spent the night alone, upset and exposed to the cold wind, so it was no surprise she had fallen ill. In her feverish haze, she heard the door open and Dennis's deep voice calling her name.
She opened her eyes slightly and saw Dennis crouching beside her. It wasn't a hallucination. She couldn't believe he was there when he should be at the wedding. Dennis scooped her up and carried her downstairs, heading straight for his wedding car. The scene looked as if she were the bride being carried away.
Claire struggled, insisting Dennis put her down, saying she couldn't go to the hospital on his wedding day. If Cleo found out, she'd be in trouble again.
But Dennis janored her protests forcefully, placing her in the car fastening her seatbelt. and instructing the bodyguard to head to the hospital. The bodyguard reminded him they needed to pick up Ivy.
Dennis called another car to handle it and slammed the door shut.
Claire, dazed, tried to find something to lean on. Dennis extended his arm, pulling her into his embrace.
Claire tried to open her eyes and, seeing Dennis, desperately attempted to open the car door. But his strong hands gripped her wrists tightly, and he questioned her in a low voice, "Do you really not want me to care about you?"
"Yes, I don't want you to. I have a boyfriend!" Claire shouted with the last of her strength.
Though Dennis was furious at the mention of her boyfriend, he couldn't just leave her sick. He felt a strange sense of reluctance.
He didn't understand why.
At the Price Villa, Ivy was in her room, fully dressed in her wedding gown, waiting for Dennis to pick her up and head to the chapel.
As time passed and Dennis didn't show, Ivy grew anxious.
A car finally arrived, and a bodyguard hurried over to inform Cleo that Dennis had an
urgent matter and couldn't come, so he was there to take Ivy to the chapel.
Ivy's face turned pale. She demanded to know why Dennis couldn't come. The bodyguard stammered, saying he was tied up with something important. Ivy refused to accept this.
She argued that nothing was more important than their wedding and demanded to see Dennis. She couldn't bear the humiliation of arriving at the chapel without the groom, especially in a regular car instead of the wedding car.
Ivy started to make a scene, pressing the bodyguard about who Dennis was with. Reluctantly, the bodyguard revealed that Claire had fallen ill, and Dennis had taken her to the hospital.
Learning that Claire was the first to sit in the wedding car, Ivy was furious and nearly lost it. She ordered the bodyguard to take her to the hospital immediately.
At the hospital, Dennis carried Claire into the emergency room, shocking those who hadn't gone to the wedding.
The doctor quickly attended to Claire, giving her an IV to reduce her fever.
Dennis stayed by her bedside, visibly upset when the nervous nurse made a mistake with the IV. The nurse, under pressure, was sweating profusely.

Claire opened her eyes slightly, urging Dennis to go to the wedding.
Just then, Dennis received a call informing him that Ivy refused to go to the chapel and was on her way to the hospital.
Hearing this, Claire felt guilty, worried that she would cause trouble for Raymond and Melinda if Qiana got involved.
Dennis looked deeply at Claire, first asking if she would break up with her boyfriend, then saying he would cancel the wedding if she agreed.
Claire was shocked, and as she tried to sit up, she pulled on the IV line. Dennis quickly pushed her back down, telling her not to move.
As Dennis was about to repeat his words, his phone rang again. He hung up, and the bodyguard handed him the phone, saying it was Qiana. Dennis put it on speaker, and Qiana anxiously urged him to come.
Dennis reluctantly stepped into the hallway to take the call.
Meanwhile, Ivy, in her wedding dress, stormed into the hospital room with two maids, not seeing Dennis. She angrily demanded to know where Claire had hidden him. After sending the bodyguard away and closing the door, Ivy approached Claire, accusing her of seduction and ruining the wedding, even threatening to kill her. Claire, feeling regretful for missing her chance with Dennis, quietly apologized, acknowledging Ivy's status as his fiancée.
Ivy slapped Claire and warned her never to set foot in Thalassia or see Dennis again after the wedding.
At that moment, Dennis burst in, pushing Ivy aside and shielding Claire.
Ivy quickly changed her demeanor, pretending to be concerned about Claire.
Claire covered her slapped cheek with the blanket, seeing Ivy's hypocrisy, and felt a chill for Dennis's future.
Ivy, with a sweet smile, took Dennis's arm, urging him to go to the chapel, mentioning that Qiana was waiting. Dennis, however, was worried about Claire's condition.

As they were leaving, Claire looked directly at Dennis, asking if his earlier words still stood, if he would really do it if she agreed.
Dennis pushed Ivy away and checked Claire's injuries.
Ignoring the pain, Claire stared at Dennis, her eyes filled with tears and determination. Dennis firmly said he meant it.
Claire then declared she would break up with her boyfriend and demanded Dennis leave Ivy, calling her deceitful, savage, and unworthy of him.
Dennis then questioned Ivy about hitting Claire.
Ivy, flustered, tried to deny it, but Dennis, furious, told her she had no right to lay a hand on Claire.
Ivy, realizing Dennis's emotions were all for Claire, didn't dare to argue further.
She promised to apologize to Claire if Dennis would return to the wedding with her,
but Dennis was skeptical. In her panic, Ivy pretended to trip, seeking sympathy, but got no response.
Claire resolutely refused to forgive Ivy, calling her out for her hypocrisy and vowing to stop the wedding, even if it meant being labeled a homewrecker.
To prove her closeness with Dennis, Claire claimed they had lived together for a month
and had done everything a couple would do, shocking Dennis.
Claire also revealed a birthmark on Dennis's inner thigh.
Dennis asked why Claire had rejected him before. Ivy seized the moment to accuse Claire of seduction and lying, but Claire retorted that Dennis had pursued her first.
Fed up with Ivy's noise, Dennis ordered the bodyguard to remove her. Ivy cried, saying
she couldn't go to the wedding alone, but Dennis firmly announced the wedding was
off.
Claire was stunned, not expecting the consequences of disrupting the wedding. Dennis, however, had a sudden idea. With all the guests gathered, he proposed that Claire marry him instead.
