Chapter 24: The Atmosphere of the Family
Dad, Stay Away from My Mom
Raymond's hormones instantly surrounded her. Just as she was about to speak, Raymond cupped her cheeks.
His burning lips covered hers, silencing her.
"Mmm."
Melinda's mind went blank, a current ran through her body, sparking her reaction.
Raymond's kiss was domineering and wanton, leaving her unable to resist.
It wasn't until she sensed a dangerous aura that she suddenly woke up and began to push him away forcefully.
"Let go of me! Raymond, I'm warning you..." She was about to curse angrily, but Raymond gently pressed her lips with his fingertip.
"Keep it down, don't wake Sam." he said hoarsely.
Melinda stared at him with wide eyes, a flash of anger in her gaze.
Seeing the teasing smile in Raymond's eyes, she pushed him even harder.
Raymond finally let her go and stood up to leave.
Their eyes met, the ambiguous atmosphere lingered between them, both breathing heavily.
"You bastard!" Melinda couldn't help but curse.
She swore she would never invite him to her house again! Raymond was as dangerous as a flood beast!
The rain outside was still drizzling, and it wasn't until after he left that Melinda remembered she hadn't given him an umbrella. But then she thought, he's so bad, he should get soaked to clear his head!
So she closed the door without hesitation.
The next day, to prevent the previous incident from happening again, Melinda informed Delilah in advance and then went to school to pick up Sam.
However, just as she turned around, she suddenly bumped into that domineering black car, and a wave of annoyance surged in her heart. Why was Raymond like an unshakeable tail?
Sam's eyes lit up as soon as he saw Raymond.
He happily broke free from Melinda's hand, shouting in surprise, "Mr. Thomas!" and then ran towards Raymond.
Raymond squatted down and opened his arms to welcome Sam's hug. Sam sat in his strong arms, grinning from ear to ear.
At that moment, a father and son walked over. A little boy looked up at Sam curiously and asked, "Sam, is this your dad?"
Sam looked at his classmate, then at Raymond, just about to shake his head in denial, but Raymond suddenly said, "Yes, I'm Sam's dad."
Melinda was stunned when she heard this. She stared at Raymond with wide eyes. What was he talking about?
How could he casually admit he was Sam's dad?
But Raymond's face was full of seriousness and determination, as if it was indisputable.
After the father and son left, Sam looked at Raymond expectantly and said, "Mr. Thomas, can you be my temporary dad? The teacher said there's a parent-child program this month that needs dads to participate."
Raymond looked at Sam's expectant face, his heart softened, and he nodded, "Okay, I will." His voice was like a warm current flowing into Melinda's heart.
Sam, hearing this, jumped up happily, clasping his hands together, his eyes sparkling with excitement, "That's great!" While Melinda looked at Raymond with a complicated expression, her lips moved slightly, but she was momentarily speechless.
Melinda hurriedly interjected, "No! Mr. Thomas will definitely be very busy then, we shouldn't bother him." She looked at Sam and Raymond, feeling speechless. It was one thing for Sam to mess around, but why was Raymond messing around too? "Maybe I can find a friend to help." Melinda broke the silence, tentatively suggesting. "No way, Mommy!" Sam immediately retorted, hands on his hips, his little face full of determination, "My classmates already know Mr. Thomas is my daddy. If we suddenly change to someone else, what will they think?"
Melinda looked at Sam, the hesitation and struggle in her heart becoming clear at that moment.
She took a deep breath, looked at Raymond, and decided to face it bravely.

Melinda was speechless. She looked at Sam's serious expression, feeling a bit helpless.
It was all Raymond's fault for admitting it recklessly!
Raymond, however, smiled and said, "I will play the role of a father well."
His gaze was gentle and firm, as if saying, "Don't worry."
Sam, hearing this, clapped his hands happily, looking at Raymond with anticipation.
Melinda sighed helplessly, feeling complicated inside.
"I'll treat you to a big meal."
Raymond said as he tried to open the car door for Sam to get in.
However, Melinda quickly walked over and hugged Sam.
"Don't trouble Mr. Thomas, I'll cook for him at home tonight."
Her tone was polite, but with a hint of distance.
However, Sam struggled and poked his head out from Melinda's embrace, shouting to Raymond, "Mr. Thomas, do you want to come to my house for dinner? My mommy's cooking is really good!"
Melinda immediately covered Sam's little mouth, smiling awkwardly at Raymond, "My cooking is terrible, so I won't invite you."
But her face blushed, betraying her guilty conscience.
Raymond looked at her cute appearance, couldn't help but smile and said, "I don't mind."
He looked at Sam, whose mouth was covered, and said with concern, "Don't cover Sam's mouth."

Melinda was startled and then let go.
Sam immediately took a deep breath, staring at Melinda with wide eyes, as if saying, "Mommy, are you trying to suffocate me?"
Melinda looked at Sam helplessly.
Sam always disrupted her plans!
Sigh! It was also her fault for always teaching Sam to tell the truth and not to lie.
After all, she was quite confident in her cooking skills!
Back at the apartment, Melinda always felt that the two-bedroom, one-living room was enough for her and Sam, but when Raymond stepped into the space, she suddenly realized how small the home felt.
"You stay here with Sam, I'll go cook."
Melinda's voice carried a hint of urgency. She just wanted to get dinner done quickly
so Raymond could leave early.
She quickly chopped the vegetables, constantly urging herself, "Faster, faster."
"Mr. Thomas, go help my mommy in the kitchen! I can do my homework by myself." However, Sam gave Raymond a sly look.
Raymond understood, looking at the slender figure in the kitchen, he nodded, "Okay."
With Sam's departure, Raymond's tall figure walked towards the kitchen. Melinda was about to get some ingredients from the fridge but bumped into Raymond at the kitchen door.
Raymond's chest was hard and warm, Melinda's pretty face blushed slightly. She wanted to step back but accidentally kicked the kitchen door threshold and fell backward.
Raymond reacted quickly, grabbing her waist and pulling her tightly into his arms.
Melinda's heart raced, she tightly wrapped her arms around Raymond's waist, trying to find support.
