Chapter 255: A Piece of Underwear Fell in His Bathroom
Dad, Stay Away from My Mom
Seraphina had a million questions swirling in her mind about Zachary's status and identity.
Zachary, now dressed in casual clothes, lounged on the couch, flipping through a book on psychological philosophy. The sound of water trickling from the bathroom, however, kept pulling his attention away from the pages.
He glanced over at the bathroom door, where Seraphina's silhouette was faintly visible, like a hazy watercolor painting. A wave of inexplicable shyness washed over her. This was her first time showering in a man's bathroom, and the unfamiliar masculine aura made her heart race a little.
As she showered, her thoughts drifted to Nico, the man she once deeply loved. Fortunately, they had never been intimate; Nico always made excuses, saying they should wait until their wedding night to keep some mystery. She had always wondered what Nico was hiding.
After her shower, Seraphina gently dried herself with a towel and changed into clean pajamas. Her long, wet hair draped over her shoulders, and her face, flushed from the bath, looked even more delicate and charming.
She walked out of the bathroom and saw Zachary still sitting on the couch, reading. She hesitated for a moment before asking, "Zachary, do you have a hairdryer? I need to dry my hair."
Zachary looked up, frowning slightly. He glanced at his watch; it was already late. "It's so late, why are you washing your hair now? I don't have a hairdryer here."
Seraphina smiled awkwardly. "I'm used to washing my hair at night. I didn't expect there wouldn't be a hairdryer here."
She paused and then asked, "Can you borrow one for me?"
Zachary put down his book, stood up, and said, "Alright, I'll go get one for you."
With that, he turned and left the room.
While waiting, Seraphina idly browsed Zachary's bookshelf. It was filled with books on mathematics, physics, philosophy, psychology, and more, covering a wide range of topics. She looked at him in a new light. She had thought Zachary would only be interested in weapons and such, but she didn't expect him to have such a profound cultural background.
Before long, Zachary returned with a hairdryer in hand. He handed it to Seraphina and said, "I borrowed this from next door. Make sure to return it when you're done."
Seraphina took the hairdryer, gave him a grateful look, and said, "Thanks."
She then turned and walked back into the bathroom. Soon, the sound of the hairdryer filled the room.
Zachary sat on the couch, his gaze unconsciously drifting to the bathroom door. A few minutes later, Seraphina emerged, her long hair now dry and smoothly draped over her shoulders, emitting a faint fragrance. She looked enchanting, and Zachary's gaze lingered for a few extra seconds.
Seraphina had left behind a piece of lingerie, which Zachary noticed. He picked it up and placed it in the laundry basket, feeling a ripple in his heart.
That night, Seraphina slept soundly.
In the morning, the sharp sound of a whistle pierced the silence like a blade, and the lively voices from the field woke Seraphina from her sleep. She groggily rubbed her sleepy eyes, got up, and opened the window to look outside.
Just then, Knox hurried in, inviting her to join him for a morning run. Seraphina was slightly taken aback but then eagerly agreed.
After a quick wash, she changed into casual clothes and left the room. They ran along a winding mountain path, flanked by towering trees. However, it wasn't long before Seraphina's stamina began to wane. She stopped, panting heavily, hands on her knees, her forehead covered in fine sweat.
"Need a break?" Knox asked, a teasing smile on his face.
"Yeah," she panted, "I'm not used to this."

"Don't worry," he said, "you'll get the hang of it. Let's take it slow."
They continued at a slower pace, enjoying the fresh morning air and the peaceful surroundings.
Seeing Seraphina struggling, Knox asked with concern, "You okay? Can you keep going?"
Seraphina shook her head weakly, "I can't. Let's head back."
As they started back, Knox noticed some wild fruit trees by the roadside, laden with tempting wild fruits. He picked a few and handed them to Seraphina. "Try these. They're pretty good."
Seraphina took a bite, and the sweet and sour taste instantly filled her mouth. "Wow, these are really good!"
They continued walking, chatting and laughing. As they neared the gate, Seraphina suddenly slipped and fell forward. Knox quickly reached out and caught her, preventing an awkward fall.
However, as they looked up to continue, they unexpectedly saw Zachary standing thirty feet away, staring at them coldly. Knox's scalp tingled, and he quickly let go of Seraphina's hand.
He smiled awkwardly and explained to Zachary, "Mr. Baker, don't misunderstand. Ms. York almost fell, and I just helped her."
Seraphina also hurriedly chimed in, "Yes, Zachary, we were justâ"
But Zachary just glanced at them and interrupted, "Knox, your morning run isn't over, is it? Keep running."

With that, he turned and walked away. Knox and Seraphina were left looking at each other, the air filled with awkwardness and helplessness.
Seraphina looked at Knox with concern, "Are you okay? Do you really have to keep running after he treated you like that?"
Knox smiled wryly, "It's okay. Mr. Baker is just like that. I'm fine, don't worry." With that, he turned and continued his run.
Seraphina stood there, biting her lip in frustration. She knew she had no place to interfere with how Zachary managed his subordinates, but she still felt his actions were
a bit harsh. She sighed softly and headed to the dining hall.
The dining hall was already bustling. Everyone knew about the new guest and greeted her politely. Seraphina smiled back at them, but couldn't help but feel that life here was completely different from the outside world. There were no phones, computers, or internet here, as if they had returned to a primitive state of living. Feeling bored and restless in her room, she decided to go out for a walk. Seraphina chose a small path and encountered two people returning from hunting rabbits. In their conversation, she learned that there were many wild rabbits around, and they hunted them to improve their meals. Faced with such a rare beauty, the young men blushed shyly.
Seraphina asked where the path led and learned it went to the back mountain. Despite their warnings about the rocky terrain and not to go too far to avoid getting lost, she confidently decided to go.
Along the way, she saw the wild fruits Knox had picked for her and managed to pick a ripe one herself, enjoying it as she continued happily. Unknowingly, she reached a rocky area.
Meanwhile, Zachary, needing to ask Seraphina something, went to the camp gate to find her. Learning from the hunters that she had gone for a walk in the back mountain, he felt a headache coming on. The back mountain was dangerous and not suitable for her to explore, so he hurriedly headed down the path.
Seraphina came upon a natural stone mountain. It wasn't high, but its shape was unique, and a sense of challenge rose within her. She wanted to climb the flatter- looking stones to admire the wildflowers blooming in the crevices. So, she began to climb.
However, the stone surface was not as smooth as she had imagined. The protruding rocks and gaps made her climb exceptionally difficult. Seraphina carefully searched for footholds, but each attempt seemed to take her further from success.
Just as she was in a bind, unable to find a foothold, Zachary suddenly shouted, "Watch out!"
