Chapter 270: Cut Off His Romantic Prospects
Dad, Stay Away from My Mom
Seraphina shut the door and turned to Zachary with a playful grin. "So, how do you feel about me scaring off your potential dates? Are you mad?"
Zachary raised an eyebrow. "When did I ever say you were my girlfriend?"
"Starting tonight, from this moment on, I am. And I assume you're cool with it,"
Seraphina declared confidently, hands on her hips and chin up.
Suddenly, she clutched her stomach and gave Zachary a pitiful look. "I'm starving. Got anything to eat? I skipped dinner."
Zachary sighed and pulled out his phone to order two bowls of pasta.
Outside the door, Sofia stomped her foot in frustration and headed to the bathroom. After her shower, she grew more and more indignant. How could she let Seraphina win so easily? She vowed to herself that she wouldn't accept defeat and would fight for her chance, even if it meant subtly undermining Seraphina.
A few minutes later, steaming bowls of pasta arrived. Seraphina looked at the delicious food and smiled gratefully at the delivery person. "Thanks, it smells amazing."
The delivery person just shyly smiled and nodded.
"Why don't you have some too?" Seraphina offered, handing him a fork.
Zachary shook his head. "I already ate."
"You're so stingy," Seraphina muttered under her breath.
Zachary shook his head again. "I'm not hungry. You eat."
Seraphina was indeed starving. She hadn't eaten much earlier because of Sofia's interference. She devoured the pasta quickly, finishing it in no time.
After eating, she was about to take the dishes back, but Zachary stopped her. "Leave them. Someone will collect them in the morning. You should go rest."
Seraphina looked at Zachary's chiseled face her eves growing dreamy She wanted to stay, even if it meant sleeping on the small couch.
But Zachary's next words brought her back to reality. "Don't get any ideas. Go back to your room."
He reached out to check her temperature, which was normal. "Make sure you stay warm tonight."
Seraphina mumbled a response and obediently went back to her room. As she walked, her mind was tangled with thoughts about Zachary's fiancée, not realizing that the girl was her cousin, Della. She bit her lip in frustration. That jerk! She tossed and turned all night, unable to stop thinking about her moments with him.
Zachary, too, couldn't get Seraphina out of his mind and spent the night sleepless. The next morning, Zachary was woken by a ringing phone. It was Dennis, calling to inform him that his wedding had been postponed due to a world tour. Zachary acknowledged it, knowing it wouldn't affect his current protection mission.
In Shadow City, Melinda had passed the worst of her early pregnancy symptoms. Four months along with her second child, she wore a loose dress that discreetly hid her small bump. She still looked slim, but pregnancy had given her a maternal glow.
Raymond rushed back from a meeting, eager to see her. Learning she was at the lab, he hurried over to join her.
In the office, Melinda was reviewing contracts when Raymond walked in. He frowned. "You're pregnant and still working so hard?"
Though his words were reproachful, his tone was filled with affection.
Raymond had already planned lunch and an afternoon outing to get some sun, which he heard was good for calcium. But Melinda wanted to rest at home.
She playfully tugged at Raymond's collar, her fingers trailing to his collarbone, her eyes soft. Then she mentioned needing to talk to Vincent.

Raymond's face darkened, and he set his spoon down with a clatter. "Why do you need to see him? Can't you just call him?"
Melinda was startled by his reaction but quickly understood. She put down her utensils and wrapped her arms around his neck, smiling. "Don't be like that. I just want to thank him for helping us out."
"Why does thanking him require a meal? You could just give him a bonus," Raymond grumbled.
Melinda laughed, knowing he was jealous. She teased him, "A bonus isn't as sincere as a meal."
Raymond persisted, "Then why don't you invite me? I've helped you a lot too." Melinda rolled her eyes, realizing this could go on forever. She relented, "Fine, fine. We'll invite him together. But don't scare him with your intense presence."
Raymond was even more displeased. "What's wrong with my presence? If he can't handle it, he's not much of a man."
Melinda quickly soothed him. "Alright, alright. I know you're the best. We'll go together, but you have to stay quiet, okay?"
After some back-and-forth, they finally reached an agreement and returned to their sweet, loving state.
Melinda, feeling drowsy, pouted. "I'm sleepy. Carry me to bed."
Raymond chuckled and lifted her. "You're two people now, and you still want me to carry you?" Despite his words, he carried her to the bedroom.
Melinda nestled in his arms, listening to his strong heartbeat and feeling their shared love. She smiled contentedly.

Meanwhile, back at the camp, Seraphina was packing her clothes when she bumped into Sofia at the door.
Sofia's eyes flashed with resentment as she blocked the doorway. "Why are you here?" Seraphina remained calm. "I'm just staying here for a while. Nothing special."
"I heard you and Zachary aren't even dating yet, right?" Sofia pressed.
"That's none of your business," Seraphina replied, annoyed.
Sofia's tone grew sharper. "I like Zachary. Don't think you're the only one who can pursue him!"
"What makes you think you have the right to say that?" Seraphina shot back, feeling a surge of anger.
Sofia's voice became even more cutting, her words like sharp blades. "Look at yourself, then look at me. I'm prettier, I have a better figure. These are facts you can't deny."
She paused, her tone dripping with superiority. "And I'm a professional woman. What about you? Judging by your outfit, you're still a student, right? Do you really think Zachary would choose you? Stop dreaming!"
Seraphina's face turned red with anger.
But Sofia wasn't done. She continued, "You don't deserve Zachary. He'll never be interested in you, so give up now!"
Her words were full of scorn and disdain, and she seemed to relish the power she held over Seraphina, smiling smugly as if she had already won.
Seraphina retorted, "We'll see about that. Don't think I don't know what you've been
up to."
