Chapter 279: Approached by a Strange Man
Dad, Stay Away from My Mom
Her parents had been waiting for what felt like forever. As soon as they saw her step out, Niamh rushed over, practically bouncing with excitement, and handed her a bouquet of fresh flowers.
Seeing Seraphina dressed so plainly, Niamh's heart ached, and she couldn't help but tear up. "Oh, honey, you've been through so much these past two months."
Seraphina hugged Niamh gently, her heart swelling with gratitude and warmth.
But there was still a nagging regret Zachary hadn't come to see her off. Xander suggested, "Let's head home."
Once in the car, Niamh brought up Nico repaying his debt. Seraphina's expression turned icy as she replied, "I don't want anything to do with him anymore."
Niamh tried to comfort her and even suggested setting her up with someone new, but Seraphina, exhausted, said, "Mom, I just need some time to rest."
Niamh, not giving up, proposed, "How about you take over the company affairs? Ever since my car accident, I've been having terrible headaches and can't manage everything."
When they got home, Della enthusiastically ran up and hugged her tightly.
Facing such a kind and innocent Della, Seraphina felt a pang of guilt. If it weren't for knowing about the engagement in advance, their friendship might have already fallen apart.
Della pulled her inside. "Seraphina, you're back! My mom prepared lots of gifts for you."
Seraphina forced a smile and excused herself, saying she was tired and wanted to take a bath. She grabbed her pajamas and headed to the bathroom.
Sitting in the bathtub, she stared blankly ahead. Even though life was back on track, she still felt an emptiness inside.
After her bath, Della's eyes lit up when she saw her. "Seraphina, you look so beautiful today!"
Seraphina's lips curved into a faint smile.
Then, as if remembering something exciting, Della grabbed Seraphina's hand eagerly. "Seraphina. do,vou know who mv. fiancé is? It's Zachary! He's so handsome Even though I only saw him once on our engagement night, I can't forget him."
Hearing this, Seraphina's heart tightened, and her fingers curled involuntarily. She was torn, wondering whether to tell Della that Zachary was the one who had protected her.
After a moment of struggle, Seraphina decided to be honest. She took a deep breath, looked into Della's eyes, and said slowly, "Della, actually, it was Zachary and his team who protected me this time."
Della was stunned at first, then her eyes filled with joy. She grabbed Seraphina's arms tightly and asked eagerly, "Really? Seraphina, tell me all about him. What does he like to do? What's his personality like?"
Just as Seraphina was about to respond, Della's phone rang.
It was Hawk, reminding them about dinner. After hanging up, Della urged, "Seraphina, let's grab our coats and get ready to go!"
Seraphina walked into the closet, gently closed the door, leaned against the wall, and sighed deeply, feeling helpless.
When she came downstairs, Niamh looked at her and frowned slightly. "Seraphina, you're dressed too plainly today. You should spruce up a bit."
At that moment, a servant walked over with a piece of pink crystal, saying it had fallen out of Seraphina's clothes.
Seraphina took it, her fingers gently rubbing it, a complex emotion flashing in her eyes. She silently put it in her bag, recalling how she and Zachary had once planned to make it into matching pendants. Now, it could only serve as a keepsake.
In the car, Della couldn't stop talking.
She leaned in close to Seraphina, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. "Seraphina, tell me more about Zachary. I'm dying to know."
Seraphina sighed, knowing Della had a particular weakness for handsome men.
She replied, exasperated, "What's there to tell? He's just a person."
But Della wasn't satisfied with that answer. She pouted and shook Seraphina's arm playfully. "Seraphina, please tell me. What's he like? Is he easy to get along with?"
Feeling a bit dizzy from the shaking, Seraphina gave in. "Alright, alright. He's easy to get along with, really. He just seems super busy. Every time I see him, he's always in a rush, like he's got a million things to handle."
Della pouted slightly, complaining, "He left our engagement dinner before even finishing his meal. Total workaholic."
Seraphina's heart stirred, and she asked tentatively, "So, when are you planning to get married?"

Della tilted her head, thinking. "It's still a while off, but Grandpa is pushing for it to happen soon."
"That's good." Seraphina forced a smile, feeling a mix of emotions and relieved she hadn't disrupted Della's happiness.
Della sighed, mumbling, "I've sent him nearly fifty messages, and he hasn't replied to a single one."
"How could he do that!" Della couldn't help but complain.
"He's... very busy every day," Seraphina consoled.
Looking at Della, Seraphina felt a deep ache in her heart, wishing Zachary would give Della a clear answer.
Della looked at Seraphina with envy, regretting, "I should have gone into quarantine with you. Maybe I could have seen him more."
"That place was under strict lockdown. The food was bad, the sleep was worse, and we couldn't use our phones. I spent my days reading to pass the time," Seraphina said with a bitter smile.
When they arrived at the restaurant, Hawk's eyes crinkled with a smile upon seeing Seraphina safe and sound. He quickly called out, "Come over and greet everyone." Seraphina obediently greeted the group. Suddenly, Xander asked, "Dad, is anyone from the Baker family coming?"
Seraphina's heart tightened, worried about facing the Baker family and the potential awkwardness.
Hawk waved his hand dismissively. "Zachary isn't back yet, so there's no need to meet for now."
Seraphina breathed a sigh of relief, glad she wouldn't have to face Zachary. Entering the private room, everyone sat around, discussing Seraphina's recent ordeal and Niamh's car accident, marveling at the difficulty of family reunions.
Niamh looked at Della and smiled. "Della, when are you and Zachary planning to have the wedding?"

Verity chimed in, "That depends on the Baker family. Zachary is very busy." Della's cheeks flushed as she listened to her family discuss her wedding, Zachary's image involuntarily appearing in her mind.
Hawk nodded, his expression serious. "I'll talk to the Baker family tomorrow and arrange the wedding as soon as possible."
"Wait!"
Seraphina's hand trembled, causing her tea to spill and choke her. She quickly covered
it up with a few coughs.
"What's wrong?" Hawk asked, concerned.
Seraphina forced a smile. "Nothing, I just need to use the restroom."
"Go ahead." Seraphina used the excuse to leave the private room, standing in the lobby, drawn by the sound of a beautiful piano melody.
After getting the manager's permission, she slowly walked to the piano, sat on the bench, and, after a moment of contemplation, began to play.
Dressed in a white suit, her long hair cascading over her shoulders, her delicate face was especially beautiful under the piano's light. Her slender fingers danced on the keys like nimble fairies.
As the piano music grew more intense, her hands seemed to merge with the instrument.
The piece she played was her favorite, "Für Elise." When she finished, she lifted her hands and raised her head slightly.
Under the gaze of many in the lobby, she slowly looked up.
A waiter approached, respectfully offering a bottle of red wine with a smile. "Miss, a guest admired your piano playing and sent this wine as a token of appreciation." Seraphina snapped back to reality, politely responding before getting up to leave. Just a few steps away, a young man blocked her path, his face beaming with a pair of eager eyes. "Miss, your piano skills are amazing. May I get to know you?" Seraphina blushed, about to speak, when a tall, imposing man with a cold expression and piercing eyes emerged from a nearby private room. "She has a boyfriend."
