Chapter 293: Ace's Malicious Intentions
Dad, Stay Away from My Mom
Indigo finally felt a bit more at ease and sighed, "He's back now, and I can finally spend some time with him. He's been away on missions for years, and we've grown distant."
Then, as if remembering something, Indigo asked, "By the way, Aiden, my daughter Nova just got back from studying abroad. She majored in translation. Do you know if the translation department is hiring? I'd like her to give it a shot."
Hearing the name "Nova," Aiden's grip on the phone tightened slightly, his voice betraying no emotion. "Nova, huh? Got it. I'll ask around for you."
As soon as he hung up, Aiden immediately dialed the translation department, his voice carrying a commanding tone. "This is Aiden Martinez." The person on the other end stammered, clearly nervous. "Mr. Martinez? Hello, sir. What can I do for you?"
Aiden got straight to the point. "Add a name to the hiring list: Nova."
The person on the other end quickly agreed. "Yes, sir. Right away."
Aiden leaned back in his chair, a faint, almost imperceptible smile playing on his lips, his eyes reflecting a hint of nostalgia.
Meanwhile, Seraphina was pacing anxiously in her room, glancing out the window every now and then, hoping to catch a glimpse of Zachary.
She silently prayed for his safety, each passing moment feeling like an eternity.
"Zachary, please come back soon," she murmured, her voice trembling with worry.
To distract herself from thoughts of Zachary, she kept herself busy with work every day. Niamh noticed this and understood that Seraphina was using work to numb her feelings.
So, she decided to assign Seraphina to the project department as the director.
Seraphina bit her lip, knowing it was a huge challenge. The pressure was immense, and she had to listen to reports from her subordinates and handle various difficult issues daily.
Sometimes, she felt overwhelmed and wanted to give up.
But whenever she thought of Zachary, she found the strength to carry on, telling herself that he would return safely.
One day, while listening to a report from a subordinate, her phone rang. She eagerly answered, only to hear Indigo's voice instead of Zachary's.
Taking a deep breath to calm herself, Seraphina listened as Indigo cheerfully said, "Seraphina, Zachary successfully completed his mission and is on his way back." Tears of joy streamed down Seraphina's face as she covered her mouth, nodding repeatedly, her voice choked with emotion. "Really? That's wonderful! Mrs. Lopez, I... I can't wait to see him."
She expressed her desire to go with Indigo to pick up Zachary.
Indigo agreed, "Sure, Seraphina. I'll come get you, and we'll go together."
For the past two weeks, Seraphina had been struggling with insomnia and severe stress, relying on medication to get any sleep. Niamh worried that this would lead to a nervous breakdown.
But now, hearing the good news about Zachary, Seraphina felt her symptoms vanish. She snapped back to reality, realizing she was still in a meeting.
She quickly took the tissue handed to her by her assistant, wiped away her tears, and stood up, clearing her throat. "That's all for today. Thank you for your hard work. Lunch is on me."
Her colleagues cheered and clapped, delighted by the news.
Since Seraphina took over, their benefits had improved, and the work environment had become more relaxed.
At the same time, in Niamh's office, she was facing off with the former project director, Ace.
Ace, dressed in designer clothes, looked furious. "Mrs. York, you're giving such an important department to a young woman. What does she know? Aren't you afraid she'll ruin the company?"

Niamh remained calm, sitting behind her desk. "Seraphina is my daughter. I know her capabilities well. But you, Ace, the company has always treated you well. Why are you so restless?"
Ace's face turned red. "Restless? I've worked diligently for five years, managing the department efficiently. Seraphina is only taking my place because she's your daughter. Is she even qualified?"
Niamh scoffed. "Don't think I don't know about your underhanded dealings."
Ace's face froze. "The car accident last time you tried to kill me. Luckily, I only broke a leg."
"And don't think I haven't noticed you taking kickbacks. I gave you a chance because of your five years here, but your greed has grown. Ace, you better watch yourself." Niamh's words were sharp and cutting.
Ace's face turned from red to purple. He glared at Niamh and spat, "You got lucky last time. Be careful; you won't always be so fortunate."
Niamh slammed her hand on the desk. "Ace, do you realize you're committing a crime? And you dare threaten me?"
Ace sneered and stormed out.
As he entered the elevator, he ran into Seraphina.
Seeing her stunning beauty, he leered at her, even reaching out to touch her face. Seraphina's assistant quickly stepped in front of her.
Seraphina's expression was icy, her voice filled with anger. "Ace, what do you think you're doing?"
She had heard plenty about Ace's misdeeds and despised his behavior. "You're not welcome here. I'll have security escort you out, and if you don't leave, I'll call the police."

Ace crossed his arms, his eyes cold and mocking. "Don't think you can take my place just because the CEO supports you. Do you have the ability?"
Seraphina's assistant couldn't hold back. "Shut up. Ms. York is the future head of this company."
Seraphina coldly replied, "Ace, my business is none of your concern."
Ace's face darkened as he stepped into the elevator, his eyes filled with malice. He thought, If Seraphina were gone, who would Niamh have to take over the company?
Seraphina entered the CEO's office, sharing the news of Zachary's safe return with Niamh, her face glowing with happiness.
Niamh smiled, pleased for her. "Now you can finally relax."
Seraphina nodded eagerly, her eyes full of anticipation. "Mom, I can't wait to see Zachary."
Niamh gently patted her hand.
Meanwhile, on a spacious, luxurious private jet, Theo sat next to Aaron, his eyes showing a hint of fatigue.
Zachary lay on a nearby couch, his leg in a thick cast, his face pale but his eyes determined.
He was eager to get home, his thoughts already with Seraphina. "Seraphina, I can finally see you," he murmured. His leg injury wasn't too severe but would require some time to heal.
Theo, noticing Zachary's distracted state, couldn't help but be curious.
He sat across from Zachary and asked softly, "Zachary, who is Seraphina to you? You seem to care a lot about her."
Zachary's lips curved into a happy smile. He looked up, his eyes filled with joy. "She's my wife."
Theo was taken aback. "I didn't know you were married."
