Chapter 306: A Confession That Ended Before It Began

Dad, Stay Away from My Mom

Uma greeted them warmly, laughing, "Got your wedding gift all set, just waiting for the big day!"

Right then, the door swung open, and Levi walked in with a tall, sophisticated girl, her makeup flawless, radiating maturity.

Nova, mid-sip of her tea, froze. Uma nearly choked, and they exchanged bewildered glances, both thinking Levi had rekindled things with his ex.

Levi, with Xanthe by his side, approached the table, grinning, "Xanthe and I are back together. Wanted to introduce her to everyone tonight."

Xanthe smiled and greeted everyone, her eyes lingering on Nova, clearly aware of the room's tension.

Nova felt so awkward she didn't know what to do with her hands and feet. Under the table, Uma gently patted her leg in a comforting gesture.

Nova's carefully planned confession to Levi was now completely ruined by his sudden reconciliation with Xanthe.

Levi's affectionate gaze towards Xanthe only made the atmosphere more uncomfortable.

Thankfully, Jasper, quick on his feet, jokingly scolded them for being late and suggested they drink three penalty shots.

Dinner continued in this slightly awkward atmosphere. Nova, watching Levi's attentive care for Xanthe, felt like her heart was being pricked by countless needles and unknowingly drank several glasses of wine.

Eventually, Levi and Xanthe left for another gathering, and the others gradually dispersed.

Uma helped Nova to the parking lot, guiding her into the passenger seat, and softly consoled her, "He's not worth your love. Don't be sad. The right guy might be just around the corner."

Nova couldn't hold back her tears, choking out, "I'm so heartbroken."

Seeing this, Uma suggested, "How about we go to a bar to cheer you up?" Nova nodded in agreement.

At the bar. Nova, just wanted to drown her sorrows. She asked Uma. "If I get drunk..can I crash at your place?"

Uma didn't hesitate, "Of course, my home is your home. Anytime."

Feeling comforted, Nova quickly called Indigo, lying, "I need to stay at a friend's place to work on some materials."

Indigo reminded her to stay safe. Nova hung up and ordered a bottle of whiskey, hoping to forget about her three-year crush on Levi.

Uma sipped her juice, understanding Nova's pain and knowing she needed to vent.

Meanwhile, in Aiden's office, the phone rang. Aiden answered, and Blair's concerned voice came through, "Are you still at work? I have some free time. Want me to come over?"

Aiden coldly declined, "No, you should rest early."

Blair, undeterred, continued, "You know I have many suitors, but my heart is only for you. I've spent five years on you..."

Aiden impatiently interrupted, "Then accept someone else. Don't waste your time on me. It's not worth it."

Blair, angered, pressed on, "What's your relationship with Nova? Do you like her?" Aiden's tone turned icy, "Don't involve Nova. We only talk about work, nothing else." He hung up the phone, checked the time it was 9:30 PM-and prepared to go home. Just then, Indigo called, asking him to visit their parents. Aiden agreed and casually asked, "Is Nova home?"

Learning that Nova was staying at a friend's, he further inquired, "A male or female friend?"

After hanging up, Aiden sat back in his chair, rubbing his temples, a hint of worry on his face, clearly uneasy about Nova's whereabouts.

At the bar, Nova had downed a bottle of whiskey and was passed out on the table.

Uma heard Nova's phone ring and answered it for her.

"Hey, Nova's too drunk to talk right now," she informed the caller.

The caller insisted on getting the address to pick Nova up.

Despite Uma's assurances that she could take care of Nova, the caller was adamant.

Reluctantly, Uma sent the address and then woke Nova, telling her that Aiden was coming to get her.

Nova, in a drunken haze, mumbled that she didn't want to go home. Uma, curious about Aiden's identity and unsure if she should entrust a drunk Nova to him, decided to observe carefully.

Soon, a sleek black car, flanked by three SUVs, pulled up precisely at the bar's entrance.

Aiden refused his bodyguards' help, insisting on fetching Nova himself, worried about why she drank so much was it an internship issue or something else? He pondered as he walked, "Nova, what's going on?"

Entering the bar, the dim, atmospheric lighting and lively music created a vibrant scene of young people enjoying themselves.

Uma, sitting where she could see the door, anxiously waited. First, two impeccably dressed men, clearly top-tier bodyguards, walked in.

Then, Aiden, with his commanding presence that shone even in the dim light, came into view.

He scanned the room, spotted Nova, and walked towards her with determination. Uma's heart raced.

Such an extraordinary man-could he be the one Nova mentioned, who had loved her for over twenty years?

"Wow, just looking at him makes my heart flutter!" As he approached, Uma truly felt his handsomeness-his chiseled features, striking eyes, and authoritative demeanor radiated an undeniable charm.

Aiden stood by Nova, looking at her slumped over the table, and sighed. He nodded politely to Uma, "Hi, I'm a close family friend of Nova's. I'm here to take her home."

Uma hesitated, wanting to ensure her friend's safety, "Are you really a family friend?" Given the bodyguards, she couldn't help but worry.

Aiden's expression was calm and assured, "I'm not, but I promise to get her home safely."

Hearing this, Uma's heart tightened. She quickly tried to rouse Nova, "Nova, your family friend is here. Wake up."

Nova groggily opened her eyes, turning to see Aiden, blinking, "Why are you here?" Aiden leaned down, his gaze gentle yet firm, "Nova, let's go home."

At that moment, Uma stared at his face for several seconds, finally recognizing him! She exclaimed excitedly, "You're Mr. Martinez!"

Aiden's eyes narrowed, and he quickly gestured for silence, his look a clear warning: "Don't make a scene."

Uma, startled, covered her mouth, her mind racing, "So Nova's family friend is Mr. Martinez! She's so lucky to be talking to such an important person."

Aiden looked at Uma and asked, "Why did she get drunk?"

In Aiden's imposing presence, Uma didn't dare lie, quickly explaining, "Nova planned to confess to a classmate she's liked for three years, but he got back with his ex. She was heartbroken and drank a bottle of whiskey."

Aiden's eyes darkened. He looked at Nova's face, leaned down, slid his arm under her, and lifted her into his arms.
