Chapter 309: Thought It Was a Drunken Hallucination

Dad, Stay Away from My Mom

Nova instinctively covered her burning cheeks with both hands, the blush spreading all the way to her ears. Aiden's sudden confession had completely thrown her off balance.

She had nervously revealed her feelings to someone else before, but now she found herself being confessed to by Aiden, whom she had always seen as a mentor.

Like a lost lamb, she had wandered into Aiden's private space, utterly clueless about how to respond.

Just as she was caught in a whirlwind of emotions, a crisp knock on the door startled her.

Nova's eyes widened in shock, her pupils dilating as she stared at the closed door, torn between fear and the inability to pretend she hadn't heard.

After hesitating for a moment, she slowly opened the door just a crack, revealing only her shy, wide eyes as she timidly peeked outside.

Standing tall outside the door, Aiden had one hand in his pocket and the other resting on the door frame. His gaze pierced through the narrow opening, filled with concern as he softly asked, "Nova, you okay?"

Nova was taken aback by Aiden's presence, quickly shaking her head and then lowering her gaze in embarrassment, unable to meet his eyes. She stammered, "I... I'm fine."

Aiden's voice was particularly husky and low, as if he were murmuring to himself in regret, "I scared you earlier. That was my fault." Each word seemed to carry immense weight, landing heavily in Nova's heart.

Nova's head, which had been hanging low, was suddenly lifted by an invisible force. She stammered, expressing her surprise and joy, "I... I'm actually quite happy, just a bit flustered."

But as soon as she finished speaking, the little bit of courage she had mustered quickly dissipated, and she shyly lowered her head even further.

Aiden gazed at her for a moment and gently advised, "Get some rest, don't overthink it."

He then slowly turned and walked away, his steps heavy.

Nova watched his retreating figure, closed the door, and leaned against it, breathing heavily.

She rubbed her temples, feeling dizzy, and thought to herself that the alcohol probably hadn't worn off yet.

She staggered to the bed and collapsed onto it, falling into a deep sleep.

In her hazy state, a faint masculine scent wafted into her nose. She instinctively furrowed her brows, then slowly opened her eyes, raising her arm to sniff near her nose. She realized it was Aiden's scent, as she was still wearing his shirt.

Thinking of this, Nova's face turned bright red.

Overnight, her relationship with Aiden seemed to be shrouded in a veil of ambiguity.

Despite this, Nova slept exceptionally well, her dreams sweet and wrapped in soft clouds.

In the morning, she groggily opened her eyes, instinctively thinking she was still in her room at the Martinez residence.

As she lazily stretched, her arm raised halfway, her gaze inadvertently swept across the unfamiliar ceiling, and she jolted upright as if struck by lightning.

Memories of the previous night flooded back, and she looked around, fully awake, realizing she was at Aiden's place.

Suddenly, she panicked. Where was her phone? What time was it?

Today was her second day of internship, and she couldn't be late! Her scalp tingled with anxiety as she threw off the covers, barefoot and disheveled, and rushed downstairs like a whirlwind, desperately searching for her phone, convinced it was probably on the couch.

As she reached the bottom of the stairs, she saw Aiden at the door, dressed in a sharp suit, talking seriously with a young man.

She froze in place, her eyes wide.

She was wearing Aiden's shirt, the oversized collar hanging loosely, accentuating her petite frame. Her long, thick hair cascaded down her back, uncombed, swaying gently with her movements.

After a night, her cheeks had a natural blush, like blooming pink peach blossoms in spring, her lips a delicate red, like morning dew on rose petals, tender and alluring. This scene, early in the morning, was a perfect blend of innocence and allure.

Aiden seemed to sense something, turning slightly, his gaze inadvertently sweeping over Nova. His deep eyes were momentarily stunned, a complex mix of emotions flashing through them.

He thought to himself: Why is Nova so reckless this early, yet so captivating?

He instinctively glanced at his assistant, Owen, his eyes carrying a warning as he coldly said, "Watch your eyes."

Owen, who had been casually observing Nova, was instantly sobered by Aiden's icy gaze, quickly retracting his gaze, not daring to overstep, silently grumbling to himself.

No wonder Aiden looked severely sleep-deprived today. It turned out someone had stayed over last night. This was the first time he had seen a girl at Aiden's place. Could it be that Aiden had found a girlfriend?

Nova's voice, like a clear bell, broke the brief silence as she urgently searched for her bag, muttering, "Where's my bag? I'm going to be late!"

Aiden heard her and pointed to the couch, saying softly, "It's over there."

Nova hurriedly ran over, grabbed her bag, and frantically searched for her phone. She pulled it out and glanced at the screen, letting out a high-pitched scream, full of panic, "Oh no, I'm definitely going to be late!"

Owen, hearing the scream, quickly snapped back to reality, his gaze lingering on Nova, thinking to himself: Wait, isn't this Ms. Ramirez, who lives at the Martinez residence? Seeing her in person, she's even more beautiful and cute than the rumors.

Nova, frantic, grabbed her coat, her hair a mess, her face unwashed, still wearing Aiden's shirt, looking utterly disheveled.

She rushed to Aiden, her eyes red with anxiety, her voice trembling, "I need to get to the translation department quickly, or I'll be in big trouble. Please have a bodyguard take me."

Nova almost reflexively refused, hurriedly putting on her coat, saying urgently, "No, no,

I can't take a day off on my second day. People already say I got in through connections."

She then awkwardly covered her mouth.

After all, there were outsiders present, and she was clearly not thinking straight due to the alcohol.

She began to hate alcohol, understanding why people say it leads to reckless behavior. Now it was leading to reckless speech.

She wouldn't be able to stay in the translation department after this.

Aiden looked at her, his brows furrowing tighter, his eyes full of disapproval, saying helplessly, "Someone said that?"

"No, no, I misspoke," Nova denied, feeling guilty.

Nova rushed into the laundry room, thankfully finding a mirror. She turned on the faucet, quickly washing her face with cold water. Luckily, she had mint-flavored gum in her bag, which she chewed to mask the alcohol smell.

She wiped her face with a tissue, quickly ran her wet hands through her long hair, tying it into a neat ponytail. She unbuttoned the bottom two buttons of the oversized shirt and tied a casual knot, transforming into a chic, minimalist style.

Coming out, she confidently tilted her chin at Aiden, saying, "See, I can go like this." Aiden looked at her, a smile and a hint of affection flashing in his eyes. He turned to Owen and commanded, "Take her to the translation department."

Owen nodded respectfully, stepping aside, "Ms. Ramirez, please."

Nova, like a startled rabbit, shyly waved at Aiden, whispering, "I'm leaving now," and prepared to go.

Aiden seemed touched by something, calling out in a low voice, "Wait."
