Chapter 56: Angry Because of Flowers?

Dad, Stay Away from My Mom

"Well, keeping them around for a few more days to enjoy is nice. If others want some,

you can share with them. Take them out!" Melinda smiled and nodded.

Kathy took the large bouquet of roses and went out to distribute them.

Sure enough, in no time, the large bouquet of roses was gone.

Everyone in the office knew that Melinda's admirer had sent imported roses.

Who was the wealthy person silently supporting her?

In the afternoon, sunlight streamed through the windows into the office, bringing a touch of warmth.

Delilah gently knocked on Melinda's office door. She walked in with a smile, seemingly there for a casual chat with Melinda.

After chatting for a while, Delilah suddenly lowered her voice and looked at Melinda mysteriously, saying, "Melinda, I have a favor to ask of you."

Melinda was slightly taken aback but then smiled and responded, "Delilah, go ahead. If I can help, I definitely will."

Delilah hesitated for a moment before slowly speaking, "The workload in the lab is getting heavier, and sometimes everyone is exhausted, but we don't even have a place to rest."

Melinda raised an eyebrow, seemingly understanding Delilah's intention, "So, how can I help?"

Delilah's eyes became determined, "Mr. Thomas will be attending the meeting this afternoon. Could you bring up the idea of creating a rest area? As long as Mr. Thomas agrees, the HR department can handle it."

Melinda was momentarily stunned but then nodded in agreement.

It was just a suggestion, and it wouldn't cost her anything. If it succeeded, it would be beneficial for everyone.

As the afternoon meeting was about to end, Delilah gave Melinda a knowing look. Melinda understood and knew it was her turn to speak.

Delilah started, "Mr. Thomas, the research institute has been established for over half a year now, and the lab staff have been working very hard. I have a suggestion: could we create a rest area so that everyone can take a short break during work?"

Melinda chimed in, "Yes, sometimes the work is really exhausting. Having a place to rest a bit would be a form of relaxation and healing for everyone."

Raymond glanced at the two of them and readily agreed, "Alright, Delilah, you take care of this matter."

Melinda was stunned, not expecting Raymond to agree so readily.

Across the table, Tenley cast a jealous glance. Melinda's treatment in the company was too good, wasn't it? Raymond checked the time, stood up, and said, "I have something to attend to. You all continue the discussion."

As soon as he left, the atmosphere in the meeting room relaxed.

The employees were grateful to Delilah and Melinda for their suggestion, which allowed them to enjoy such a benefit.

Melinda had only echoed Delilah's words and didn't expect Raymond to agree so easily.

However, as Raymond walked out of the meeting room, he overheard a conversation between two female employees around the corner.

"Those flowers are as beautiful as a painting! It's a pity you weren't there earlier; you missed it. I heard they're all imported varieties."

"Tsk tsk! Melinda is so generous, giving us such beautiful and expensive roses."

Raymond's footsteps suddenly stopped, and his face darkened.

The carefully selected imported roses he had sent to Melinda were given away so easily?

He turned and walked back to the meeting room, pushed open the door, and called out in a deep voice, "Melinda, come to my office."

Everyone in the meeting room was stunned, looking sympathetically at Melinda, who had been called out.

What mistake had she made to be summoned by Raymond like this?

Melinda was also confused. She gathered her things and followed Raymond to his office.

"Mr. Thomas, is there something you need?" she asked cautiously.

Raymond didn't speak, just crossed his arms coldly, the pressure in the room suffocating.

Suddenly, his tall figure approached her.

"Melinda, how much do you despise the flowers I sent you? Why did you give them

away so quickly?" His deep eyes burned with anger.

Melinda blinked, realizing he was angry about this.

"You sent me so many flowers, and I can't take care of them. Giving them to colleagues

to take care of is better than letting them wither in my hands, right?" she explained.

Raymond gritted his teeth, "You just wasted my heartfelt gesture?"

As he spoke, he suddenly leaned down, his thin lips biting her collarbone under her shirt.

Melinda was caught off guard and cried out in pain.

Raymond bit her hard, his eyes filled with a tide of resentment. He stared at her, his tone carrying an undeniable authority.

"This is just a small punishment. If you dare not cherish what I give you next time, I won't let you off so easily."

Melinda pushed him away, her eyes flashing with determination, her voice firm. "I'll just return a bouquet to you."

"Return?" Raymond's voice was hoarse and deep, each word seeming to come from the depths of his heart, "Can you return my heartfelt gesture?" His gaze was dark, as if hiding endless secrets.

"Then don't send them anymore, so I don't have to deal with them and make you unhappy."

Melinda's heart trembled slightly. She was lost for a few seconds but quickly regained her composure.

Her voice was firm and resolute.

Raymond was deeply hurt by her words. He took two steps back, his deep eyes fixed on her, his brows furrowed, as if wounded by her words. His eyes showed an indescribable disappointment.

Melinda also realized her words were too harsh. A wave of inexplicable guilt and regret surged in her heart, and she quickly apologized, "I'm sorry, what I said just now was wrong."

The cold light in Raymond's eyes gradually faded, replaced by a layer of gentle ripples. His voice still carried a commanding tone, "I really don't want my heartfelt gesture to be despised."

Melinda was stunned, quickly opened the door, and walked out.

Back in the office, Melinda was unsettled, her thoughts swirling like a tide. Raymond's behavior today was too unusual, making her suspicious. Could it be that Raymond really liked her? His way of sending flowers was completely different from William's. William just ordered flowers over the phone, while Raymond carefully selected and had them delivered.

It wasn't surprising he was angry; after all, she hadn't treated his flowers well.

For a moment, Melinda felt nothing but helplessness and frustration, her mood reaching its peak, suffocating her.

Delilah rushed in, joy evident on her face, "Melinda! Good news! The rest area has

been designated. We'll have a place to relax from now on!"

But someone harbored resentment. Tenley's face fell immediately.

Now Melinda had quickly won people's hearts.

Lena couldn't sit still either. She eagerly called Emily to report the latest news.

Emily gritted her teeth, clenching her hands in anger.
