Chapter 60: Don't Want to Remarry

Dad, Stay Away from My Mom

Larry smiled contentedly and introduced with a grin, "Melinda! Today, it's just family here, don't be nervous. They will accompany you for dinner, just think of it as having dinner with me."

Melinda was a bit surprised and nodded, "Huh?"

The young masters of the Thomas family and the Barnett family having dinner with her, an outsider, if word got out, wouldn't she become the target of everyone's envy?

She slightly turned her face, not daring to meet Raymond's intense gaze. Every time he forcefully kissed her, her ears would turn red.

William's face was serious, his voice meticulous, "Grandpa, didn't we agree that today we would discuss my marriage with Melinda?" Melinda's heart tightened, and she instinctively looked at Larry.

Larry smiled without speaking, his gaze meaningful. He glanced at Melinda, then at his grandson William beside him.

"Yes, yes, but let me confirm one more time. If Melinda agrees, I'll talk to your parents, and they will definitely agree to arrange the wedding as soon as possible."

Hearing this, Melinda's heart skipped a beat.

She thought to herself: Raymond's guess was right, Larry took the previous proposal seriously.

And this dinner was obviously arranged by William.

Sure enough, William raised his eyebrows slightly, revealing a satisfied smile, "Thank you, Grandpa."

He stood up, his gaze turning to Melinda, with a look of expectation in his eyes.

"Mr. Thomas, I think there must be a misunderstanding. William and I are just good friends." Melinda hurriedly explained, giving William an apologetic look.

"What? How can a proposal be taken as a joke?"

Larry looked at her in surprise, then at William, seemingly in disbelief.

William's face was serious. He stood up, staring at Melinda, and said, "Melinda, this is not a joke. I sincerely want to marry you and take care of you and Sam for the rest of my life."

"Melinda, will you marry me?"

Melinda felt her chest burning, not knowing if it was from nervousness or something else. Her back was soaked with sweat.

Raymond put down his teacup, frowning slightly, seemingly waiting for her response. Larry's gaze shifted between the two, "Melinda, if you have any concerns, feel free to speak up."

Melinda was in a very difficult position, feeling conflicted inside.

William didn't miss any opportunity to confess, "Melinda, ever since you saved me, I swore I would marry no one but you. Without you, I wouldn't be alive today."

Melinda's heart was in a fierce struggle.

She looked at Raymond, hoping he would help her out.

However, Raymond just elegantly sipped his tea, as if all this had nothing to do with

him. His deep gaze made it hard to read his thoughts.

Melinda was disappointed, lowering her eyes. She knew that everything today was her own doing.

She couldn't blame William, only herself for not clarifying things earlier.

Larry's voice rang out again, "I can see that William truly likes you."

"Melinda, give me a chance to take care of you for the rest of your life!" William stood up, walked to Melinda's side, and reached out to hold her hand, but she pushed him away.

She looked at William's affectionate gaze, then at Larry's expectant eyes. The pressure

in her heart grew, and she knew she had to make a decision.

"I will never marry again in this life." Melinda's voice was firm and clear, as if stating something very ordinary.

"Poof!"

Raymond, who was elegantly drinking tea, suddenly choked. He looked at Melinda in disbelief.

"Why?"

Facing three pairs of surprised eyes, Melinda remained calm and slowly said, "Sam is my entire reason for living. I once swore that from now on, Sam and I would depend on each other."

William's furrowed brows suddenly relaxed, a light flashing in his eyes, "Melinda, I am willing to treat Sam as my own child. I don't need to have children."

Raymond's hand holding the cup tightened slightly, "Will your parents agree?"

"I can make this decision myself." William retorted.

"I have already decided." Tears suddenly welled up in Melinda's eyes, but she

stubbornly turned her head, not letting them fall.

Raymond's face instantly turned ugly, "Melinda, I can do that too."

Melinda glared at him, "Mr. Thomas, I don't think there's any possibility between us either."

Soon, a series of exquisite dishes were brought in by the waiters.

"Let's end it here for today! We still need to eat, let's discuss this later." The

atmosphere was tense, and Larry stood up with his cane.

"Melinda, try this." William, helpless, sat back down and placed a shrimp on Melinda's plate.

"Yes, yes, we can discuss it later. Let's eat first, Melinda, your favorite shrimp."

"Thank you, I'll do it myself." Melinda forced a smile, glanced at Larry, and didn't move.

Larry's expression was serious, gripping his cane tightly, "Melinda, no matter who you choose in the future, I will prepare a big gift for you."

William leaned back in his chair, feeling dejected.

The meal was awkward. Midway, Larry got up to go to the restroom, and Melinda quickly put down her utensils to help him.

As soon as the door closed, William's gaze turned sharp, staring directly at Raymond, "Raymond, are you sincere about Melinda?"

Raymond didn't avoid his gaze, "Yes."

"I saw her first." William's voice carried a hint of determination.

"This kind of thing isn't about who saw her first, it's about Melinda's choice." Raymond's voice remained cold.

William took a deep breath, "Fine, then let's compete fairly. The loser will let go." Raymond nodded, "Alright."

Soon, Larry and Melinda returned, and the two men immediately resumed their calm demeanor, as if nothing had happened.

"Melinda, are you satisfied with the meal today?" Larry asked with a smile.

Melinda quickly stood up and replied, "Mr. Thomas, you are too kind."

Finally, the meal was over. Raymond checked the time, "Grandpa, we need to head

back to the office."

"Are you leaving so soon?" Larry seemed reluctant.

Raymond spoke, looking at Melinda, "I'll take her back to work."

Melinda wanted to refuse, but didn't want to make Larry uncomfortable, so she nodded.

William immediately stood up, "I should take her."

"No need, William, you take Grandpa back." With that, Raymond stood up and walked

to Melinda's side.

William could only watch them leave, a sense of inexplicable defeat rising in his heart.

Was he destined to lose?

He had never won against Raymond since childhood.
