Chapter 64 A Man's Jealous Heart

Dad, Stay Away from My Mom

The project was due at 10 AM tomorrow, and if she didn't finish it tonight, Tenley would definitely not let her off the hook.

Melinda had just dropped $300,000 on a new car, so she needed to hustle to make some cash. After a few seconds of thinking, she had a lightbulb moment and thought of someone Marc from Building Four.

Wasn't he a computer whiz? She couldn't go out to get her computer fixed at this hour, so she had to ask someone to come over.

And Marc was trustworthy! She immediately picked up her phone and dialed Marc's number...

Marc showed up twenty minutes later.

Melinda had thrown on a loose T-shirt and jeans, and her hair was tied up in a simple bun. Marc glanced at her, a barely noticeable hint of surprise crossing his face-she looked great even without makeup.

Marc checked the computer and found that the system files were corrupted, but it wasn't a big problem.

"Thank goodness for you, I really wouldn't know what to do otherwise," Melinda said, beaming and repeatedly thanking Marc.

"No problem," Marc replied calmly, his expression steady.

Melinda finally breathed a sigh of relief. The atmosphere around them became awkward, and she thought of something to say to ease the tension. "Sorry for disturbing your rest."

"It's fine, I usually don't sleep until after eleven," Marc said with a smile.

Melinda's eyes lit up. "Working so late?"

"Not work," Marc's voice was low and gentle, "helping friends set up their computers."

She pointed to her computer. "I don't know how much longer this one will last." "Don't worry, I'll help you reinstall the system and clean out the junk files. It'll last for years," Marc said, picking up his toolbox.

Just then, the doorbell rang again.

She walked to the door and opened it, slightly taken aback to see Raymond standing ther What was he doing here?

Raymond's lips curled into a mischievous smile. "What? Not happy to see me?"

"What... are you doing here?" Melinda asked, regaining her composure and frowning.

"I missed Sam and wanted to see him."

Melinda was stunned. She thought Raymond had long stopped caring about Sam, but apparently, he still remembered.

But then she looked at Marc and felt a sudden tension.

She couldn't let Raymond get the wrong idea.

"He's Marc, here to fix my computer," she quickly explained. Raymond raised an

eyebrow, a hint of surprise in his eyes.

Before Melinda could say more, Raymond called out, "Sam!"

Marc nodded slightly at Raymond.

Hearing his name, Sam immediately ran out and jumped into Raymond's arms.

Marc's heart skipped a beat, feeling a chill from Raymond's intense gaze.

His hand accidentally brushed against the sharp edge of the computer case, cutting it

open. Blood dripped from his fingertip.

"Marc, what happened to your hand?"

Melinda quickly turned around to check Marc's hand.

Seeing Melinda's worried face, Marc felt a warmth in his heart.

"Wait here, I'll get some bandages." Raymond watched Melinda tenderly care for another man, feeling a surge of anger. Marc, however, remained unfazed and waved Melinda off. "Don't worry, I can finish fixing the computer quickly."

But Melinda didn't hear him and went to get the first aid kit.

"Move," she muttered, squeezing past Raymond.

Raymond's expression darkened, his gaze like daggers aimed at Marc.

Marc was unnerved by Raymond's look, having never seen such a terrifying expression.

Melinda skillfully opened the first aid kit and carefully disinfected and bandaged Marc's hand.

Raymond stood by, watching coldly.

Who was this man? He had only been gone a few days, and now there was another man here?

Marc quickly explained, "It's just a small cut, Melinda. How about I take the computer back to my place to fix it? I'll bring it back first thing in the morning."

"No way, you've already worked hard enough. I can't trouble you more," Melinda refused.

But Marc had already picked up the computer tower and stood up. He nodded politely at Raymond but avoided meeting his cold, deep eyes again.

As she escorted Marc to the elevator, Melinda apologized, "Mr. Murray, let's have lunch together tomorrow?"

"Sure!" Marc agreed readily. As the elevator doors closed, her smile vanished.

Returning to the apartment, she found Raymond's sharp gaze waiting for her. "So late, and you have a strange man over to fix your computer?"

But she felt a sudden irritation. Why did she need to explain to Raymond?

Sam, oblivious to the tension, chimed in excitedly, "Mr. Thomas, Mr. Murray lives across from us. He helped Mom find her phone before, and tonight he came to fix her computer."

Melinda shot Sam a look, pretending to be angry. "Sam, it's late. Go to bed. Adults are talking."

She didn't want to explain to Raymond.

But Raymond's expression didn't soften. He wouldn't allow other men around Melinda. His gaze was deep and probing.

Sam, unaware of the tension, continued, "Mr. Thomas, Mom bought a car!"

Raymond raised an eyebrow. "You bought a car? Why didn't you tell me?"

Feeling uncomfortable under his gaze, Melinda replied, "What are you to me?" She had gotten her driver's license in Shadow City during college.

"Sam, it's late. Go to bed."

Melinda urged Sam again, and he obediently nodded and ran to his room.

As the door closed, Raymond suddenly grabbed Melinda's wrist, his voice low and

warning, "Melinda, don't bring strange men into the house."

Melinda pulled her hand away forcefully, annoyed. "Marc isn't a bad person. How can you say that?"

"You never know someone's true nature."

"You and Sam are alone here. What if something happens?"

Raymond's voice was filled with concern and frustration.
