Chapter 72 Emily's Show-off
Dad, Stay Away from My Mom
Raymond's eyes sparkled with confidence as he followed Melinda into the room. Watching her close the door and take a deep breath, he couldn't help but grin.
"You're too tall, I can't reach," Melinda said, looking up at Raymond with a hint of frustration.
Raymond raised an eyebrow, teasing her, "Why don't you figure out a way to grow taller then?"
"You..."
Melinda glared at him, too annoyed to speak. She reminded herself that she had to endure this to get rid of Raymond.
She closed her eyes, stood on her tiptoes, and leaned towards Raymond's lips.
Just as their lips were about to touch, Raymond suddenly wrapped his long arm around her waist, pulling her tightly into his embrace.
He bent down, his lips just a fraction of an inch from hers.
Melinda's heart raced. She could feel the enticing minty scent coming from Raymond, making her so nervous she forgot to breathe.
She blinked, looking at Raymond's perfect face so close to hers, and felt a strange emotion well up inside her.
Raymond's eyes sparkled with confidence as he smirked, his deep voice resonating in Melinda's ear.
Melinda felt a jolt of electricity shoot up from her feet to her heart, her mind going blank.
Raymond, you're such a charmer! She took a deep breath, mustering the courage to close her eyes.
But just as Melinda was ready to accept this farewell kiss, Raymond tightened his embrace, pressing her body firmly against his.
His lips lightly brushed against hers, then... he deepened the kiss.
Melinda's body stiffened. She widened her eyes, staring at Raymond.
They had agreed it would just be a kiss, so why had it turned into this?
Raymond gazed at her with such a tender look that Melinda felt like she was melting. She turned her head away nervously, but his strong arm around her waist held her in place, making escape impossible.
Raymond began counting down, his voice low and magnetic.
They had agreed on five seconds, so why had it turned into three? Raymond, you liar! Melinda was indignant, but before she could finish her thoughts, Raymond's lips were on hers again.
He continued counting down, his voice filled with an undeniable determination. Melinda panicked. Her slender hands instinctively cupped Raymond's face.
She closed her eyes tightly, summoning the courage to kiss his perfectly shaped lips.
The moment she touched him, her eyes flew open. Raymond was kissing her back! His kiss was passionate and deep, pouring all his emotions into it.
She gently pushed him, but he refused to let go. His breath made her dizzy, and she found herself getting lost in the kiss.
The air was thick with a heart-pounding atmosphere when suddenly, the sound of something heavy dropping upstairs broke the moment.
Melinda snapped back to reality and pushed Raymond away forcefully.
Raymond looked a bit dazed but quickly regained his smile.
"I'm very satisfied," he said softly, his eyes showing a mix of satisfaction and pride.
Melinda tried to calm her racing heart. She looked at him coolly and said, "You can leave now."
But when she met his intense gaze, she felt a sense of foreboding.
"Having second thoughts?" Melinda asked, noticing Raymond standing there
motionless, her tone revealing a hint of displeasure and wariness.
Raymond's eyes sparkled, and he smiled confidently. "Nah, I keep my word. I'm leaving. If you miss me, just call."
He turned to leave but then suddenly turned back and asked, "You're not planning to give that computer repair guy a ride to work every day, are you?"
Melinda was stunned. Why did Raymond care so much? Who she gave a ride to was none of his business. But before she could retort, Raymond commanded, "Melinda, I don't want any man but me sitting in your passenger seat."
Melinda almost laughed out loud. She retorted seriously, "Really? Then I'll have all my male colleagues from the lab take turns sitting in my passenger seat. Are you going to fire them all?"
Raymond was speechless for a few seconds. He glared at her but said nothing more. Thinking about his warning tonight, he figured the computer repair guy would have the sense to disappear on his own.
"I'm leaving."
Raymond gave her a deep look, grabbed his car keys from the table, and walked out. His steps were firm and strong, as if declaring his claim and reluctance to leave her.

Watching him leave, Melinda felt a wave of confusion. Could Raymond really keep his word?
The next morning, Melinda received a call from Delilah, saying a batch of test reagents had arrived and needed to be stored immediately.
After dropping off Sam, Melinda hurried to the lab.
They changed into their lab coats, disinfected, and were about to enter the lab when they noticed the break room door was open. Who would be resting there so early?
As they approached the door, Melinda's eyes widened in surprise at the figure on the couch.
It was Emily.
She sat there, as if waiting for something, a smug smile on her face.
"Ms. Lowe, we're very busy today. Maybe you should come back another time. From now on, you need to make an appointment at the front desk," Delilah said sternly, quickly recovering from her surprise.
Emily ignored Delilah and instead pulled out a diamond necklace from around her neck, crossing her legs and smirking.
"Melinda, this is the gift Raymond gave me that night. Isn't it beautiful?" Melinda felt a tightness in her chest. Delilah quickly chimed in, "It is beautiful, but we can't wear jewelry in the lab. It might cause a chemical reaction and harm our skin."
Emily wasn't done with Melinda. Her eyes glinted maliciously as she said, "Melinda, we're family. Do you have any inappropriate thoughts about your future brother-in- law?"
Melinda took a deep breath and replied coolly, "You should ask him who has inappropriate thoughts about whom."
"You..." Emily continued, "You're just jealous. You're blatantly jealous that I have a handsome, wealthy fiancé who loves me, unlike you and that child of yours that no one wants!"
Delilah stepped in, "That's enough, Ms. Lowe. This is our workplace, not a place for your gossip. Please leave."
