Betrayal At The Altar By Dolores Delia Chapter 304 Playing With Fire The veins on Davidâs forehead bulged slightly. After a long time, he sighed. faintly. âYou are driving me insane.â
Rachel narrowed her attractive eyes at David. There was a touch of a teasing. look in her eyes when she said, âYouâre playing the blame game?â
David was the one who made a move on her, yet he was now blaming her.
âWell, I played with fire and got burnt.â David wiped the corner of her lips with his wellâdefined fingers. âWhat do you want to eat?â
Upon hearing that, Rachel replied, âHomeâcooked food.â
What she meant was them cooking for themselves, but David misinterpreted her words.
Sitting in the dining room, Rachel looked at the exquisite dishes placed in front of her. The edges of the plates were engraved with the âBest Fryâ logo. She wanted to cook but realized that David had already made all the arrangements earlier on. For some reason, she felt like she owed him a favor.
The warm orange lights shone down on the diners, creating a cozy atmosphere in the restaurant.
Rachel slowly ate the food on her plate. She looked up and was taken by surprise when she met Davidâs dark and deep eyes.
David ate very little. It was not that he had no appetite, but he was picky and demanding.
Rachel swallowed the food in her mouth and took a sip of water. âWhen did you get back?â she asked.
âAt ten oâclock in the morning,â David said calmly.
Rachel nodded. There was a faint smile in the depths of her attractive eyes.
From Davidâs answer, Rachel deduced that he should have received the news on the way back from the airport and gone straight to Times Square to look for her.
Women loved it when their partners feel closely attached to them and cared for them. Rachel was no exception.
At this moment, a message popped up on Davidâs phone. He frowned imperceptibly.
Rachel noticed the hostile look in Davidâs eyes, and the twinkle in her eyes. disappeared instantly. âWhatâs wrong?â
âThereâs a problem with the cargo at the docks,â David replied.
âIs your business in Seaxas operated very widely?â asked Rachel.
âIâm involved in real estate, entertainment, and transportation industries of all sizes. However, all these are merely a small part of my grandmaâs businesses,â answered David.
âHis grandmaâs business?â thought Rachel.
That meant that it was not related to the Jones family at all.
Rachel looked at David in surprise. His words had piqued her interest. âWhat about your business?â
David looked at her deeply and said indifferently, âMy business is mainly in Aureliana.â
He did not hide anything from Rachel.
Moreover, if Rachel married him in the future, she would have to return to Aureliana with him sooner or later.
âWhatâs so special about Aureliana?â asked Rachel.
What Rachel originally wanted to ask was, âWhat kind of place is Aureliana?â
She had once tried to investigate Aureliana, but just like the outside worldâs evaluation of it, it had the highest level of confidentiality in the world. It was as if that state was isolated from the world. Outsiders could not find any information on Aureliana at all.
However, the more mysterious something was, the easier it was to arouse oneâs curiosity.
âThereâs nothing special about it,â David said. âIf thereâs a chance, Iâll bring you there.â
His tone was calm as if he was discussing something very ordinary.
However, a wave of emotion washed over Rachel when she heard his words.
âAre you full?â Unknowingly, David regarded her with a gentle look.
Rachel nodded and wiped the corners of her mouth with a napkin. Her probing gaze landed on David.
âDo you want to go to the docks?â David asked.
Rachel hesitated for a moment. âWill it cause any inconvenience for you?â
David did not give any reason. Instead, he stood up and walked over to Rachel. He held onto her hand and walked out.
