Betrayal At The Altar By Dolores Delia Chapter 43 She struggled for a moment before giving a brief reply. [Whatâs up?]
At first, it was a polite answer, but she didnât expect David to call her immediately and ask, âDid I disturb you?â
âIâm sorry it took me so long to reply to you,â Rachel said.
×× âAre you free tomorrow?â David asked, his deep and alluring voice spreading to Rachelâs ears through his phone.
Rachel flipped through the information in boredom before answering without hesitation, âNo.â
She would definitely have to get busy for some time after taking over the companyâs matters.
âIs that the reason you turned me down?â asked David, who wasnât surprised that Rachel had given that answer.
âItâll take me some time to adapt to the new job,â Rachel said. She explained, âWhy are you suddenly looking for me? Is something wrong?â
Davidâs tone became much mellower than before all of a sudden. âI want to treat the girl I like to a meal, but unfortunately, she doesnât seem interested.â
âDavid Jones, are you going to be that honest with your feelings now?â Rachel asked after laughing uncontrollably.
âRaeâRae,â David called out to her. His deep voice slowly filled her ears. âI donât need to hide my love for you.â
The way he called her RaeâRae was absolutely alluring. His voice was deep and had just the right amount of richness. It was like a loverâs confession, which makes oneâs heart flutter.
In a state of panic, Rachelâs heart started beating wildly, and she cleared her throat before saying, âIâll hang up now if thereâs nothing else.â
After saying that, she hung up and tossed aside her phone.
Soon, she received a notification on her phone. It was a text from David, which included the location of a restaurant. He added a voice message, âIâll wait for you.â
He would always seemingly give her some options to choose from, but he had already long decided for her, causing her to be unable to avoid it.
The following morning, Rachel got into a cab and arrived at the Johnson Corporation office building.
Everyone held their breaths and stared at the backseat of the car.
Rachel bent forward as the car doors opened and got out of it.
She wore a black suit paired with a black pair of trousers, exuding a sharp and aloof aura.
Her black tresses were tied up casually into a messy bun. The small tuft of hair fluttering down at the side added a gentleness and charm to her cold and aloof face.
Everyone was stunned by the fresh face.
Before they came to their senses, Rachel was already accompanied by her assistant to the internal department of the corporation.
Someone rushed forward when she entered the elevator to help her press the button. âMs. Grey, Iâm Jacky, Mr. Jensenâs assistant.â
Rachel glanced at him, and his face was instantly covered with a smile ast he continued, âHereâs the thing, Mr. Jensen hasnât been well lately. Heâs still recuperating at home, but he specially instructed me to take good care of you, Ms. Grey. Please feel free to tell me what you want. Iâll do anything to get it.â
âTell Mr. Jensen this for me. Since heâs not feeling well, heâd better recuperate at home. He doesnât have to worry about the matters at the corporation. The group will provide him with the best retirement. protection in consideration of the commendable work he has done for the group over the years.â Rachel stared coldly at the deferential Jacky and said with a mirthless smile, âThis mission is rather simple. You donât have to go all out. I believe youâll complete it successfully.â
After saying that, she strode into the elevator.
Best retirement protection?
Jacky was stunned right on the spot. He had significantly asserted dominance in front of Rachel by the orders of Mr. Jensen.
How did he end up in trouble instead?
