Chapter 740
Betrayal At the Altar by Dolores Delia
Chapter 740 The next moment, another arrow was released from the bow. It pierced through the air and shot toward Georgia with murderous intent.
The arrow landed accurately on the bullseye behind Georgiaâs head again. The only difference was that the arrowhead dripped red this time.
Jimmy watched the scene in front of him and sighed helplessly. âOf all people, why did you have to provoke Rachel?â
Great.
Georgia was in for the suffering of her lifetime.
He glanced at David, who stood beside Rachel with a quiver in his arms. Jimmy could not help but click his tongue. From the looks of it, David clearly did not intend to stop her.
Standing next to the bullseye, Chris noticed the blood on the arrowhead. He was slightly stunned for a moment before he lowered his eyes to hide the joy in his eyes.
He truly admired Miss Greyâs predilection for taking revenge on the spot.
Georgia couldnât tell what Chris was thinking. She felt a sharp pain in her neck and reached for the spot. When her fingertips touched sticky blood, her constricted pupils trembled slightly.
She gritted her teeth darkly, her eyes filled with intense hatred. âRachel Grey, what exactly do you want?â
Before she could finish her sentence, the fourth arrow was already flying toward her.
This time, it brushed past her ear.
Georgia immediately felt a burning pain in her ear. She reached out to paw at it and realized it was covered in blood. She was trembling all over. It was hard to tell if she was angry or afraid.
âIf this continues, I think your sister will go crazy,â Thomas whispered to Landon. âYour family has status and prestige. Logically, her parents canât have raised such a reckless, impudent daughter. In the end, oneâs position within the family decides everything, eh?â
When Jimmy heard this, he could not help but sigh. âWho can she blame but herself for her predicament? I only feel sorry that Landon invested so much time and effort in her all these years.â
Like other noble families in Aureliana, the Walker family had always maintained a distinction between children of the legitimate wife and concubines.
The legitimate heir would never make friends with the children of concubines, let alone integrate into the same circles. Landon, however, was special.
Back then, the Walker family had caused a stir because the legitimate son and the eldest concubine-born son had fought each other for the position of the family head.
Eventually, Landon won the bloody struggle, which resulted in his current identity and status.
He had probably kept Georgia by his side all these years because he felt sorry for the girl, a concubineâs daughter.
For the sake of Landon Walker, the other Walker family members did not say anything. However, they did not expect her to be so ungrateful.
She really knew how to push her luck!
Did she think that they had treated her well all these years because of her status as a concubineâs daughter?
If not for Landon standing beside her, the few of them would not even have looked at her, let alone played with her.
Landon pursed his thin lips slightly and did not say anything.
However, his eyes flickered with an inexplicable expression under his glasses. He stared at Georgia, who was still standing in front of the bullseye.
âRachel Grey, what the hell are you trying to do?â Georgia did not expect that Rachel would dare to hurt her. She did not care about the Walker familyâs reputation at all.
It was her fearlessness that made Georgia feel an indescribable fear in her heart.
Upon hearing Georgiaâs hysterical questioning, Rachel smiled. âMiss Walker, what a fright you gave me just now! My hands canât stop shaking.â
In other words, she was warning Georgia that it was her fault that she got injured. After all, she shouldâve minded her words in the first place.
Georgia felt a lump in her throat. Just as she was about to say something, she heard Rachel raise her voice. âMiss Walker, please hold on for a while longer. Iâm almost done.â
As she spoke, she picked up two arrows, nocked them, and drew the bow in one shot.
Her movements were so smooth that it was as though she had practiced this thousands of times before.
Before the crowd could draw their breaths, the arrows in Rachelâs hand had already left the bow. They tore through the air and shot toward Georgia with demonic vengeance.
The two arrows brushed past the hair on Georgiaâs head, nailing strands of her hair to the bullseye.
Billy and Chrisâs eyes could not help but flicker with excitement as they watched the two arrows fly through the air together.
They wondered how many surprises Miss Grey had been keeping from them.
Finally, a last arrow flew toward Georgiaâs head, whizzing through the air with murderous intent.
Fear finally took over Georgiaâs heart. She slid to the floor and landed on her knees with a loud thud.
At the same time, the black-feather arrow pierced through the red apple and nailed it firmly to the bullseye.
Georgiaâs face was pale as a sheet, and her gaze was unfocused. She looked extremely dazed.
The juice of the apple slid down the arrow bit by bit and landed on her head.
At this moment, however, she could not care less about how pathetic she looked. There was only endless fear in her heart. This bet was the craziest one she had ever accepted, and it was enough to leave an unforgettable memory in her mind. She felt as if she had just taken a stroll by the gates of hell.
Landon could not help but frown when he saw Georgiaâs terrified expression.
Who else could be blamed for todayâs incident but Georgia herself? It was nobodyâs fault that she was so reckless and ignorant.
Rachel threw the bow and arrow onto the table and walked towards Georgia.
She squatted down and lifted Georgiaâs chin with her finger. âMiss Walker, people in love hate it when others make assumptions about their relationship. I wonât blame you if you canât give me your best wishes. However, if you take things out of context and stir up trouble again, I guarantee youâll end up like that apple.â
Her casual tone was filled with chilling calmness and indifference.
Georgia looked at Rachel in a daze, her eyes filled with fear that had yet to dissipate.
The corners of Rachelâs lips curled up into a smile. Brushing her fingertips past Georgiaâs cheek and tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear, Rachel said unhurriedly, âI believe you wonât want to experience tonight a second time. Iâll also give you a good piece of advice. To the profane mind, everything is profane. Donât see others through your messed up worldview.â
She was reminding Georgia not to speculate about her relationship with the Red Flame Action Team members.
But this was also a warning.
If Georgia ignored her words, the consequences would be dire.
Georgia looked at Rachel in a daze, her gaze following her retreating figure.
When her gaze landed on Davidâs figure, tears of grievance and fear could no longer be controlled.
She thought she could at least exchange a gaze with David for a second, even if it was just a second.
However, she had underestimated Davidâs coldness and heartlessness.
The man did not look at her from the beginning to the end. He maintained an indifferent expression the whole time like he was facing a stranger he had never met.
Georgia finally realized that she was wrong.
She had made a big, ridiculous mistake!
All these years, she had carefully blended in with them and hid her admiration for David well so she could be closer to him.
However, her years of hard work had been in vain.
Landon walked to her side and handed Georgia his handkerchief. âI told you long ago that you shouldnât even think about things that donât belong to you.â
