Chapter 104
Love’s Cunning Ruse ( Mr.Kieran And Julie )
Chapter 104
Engagement party?â Julie looked at Adeline with confusion.
Adeline looked back at Julie with disappointment. Thatâs a shame. I thought you were here to stir up the engagement party! Turns out itâs just a coincidenceâ
âElliotâs getting engaged today?â Julie was taken aback by the news
Adeline just shrugged it off. âElliot doesnât know yet, but thatâs what our grandfatherâs planning. Blanca, the daughter of Luminary Solutions, has been chasing Elliot for years. I dont know how she won Grandpaâs heart, but he plans to use this occasion to force Elliot into an engagement with her.â
âForce him.â Julie repeated softly
While checking her makeup in the mirror, Adeline said, âThe plan is to trick Elliot here, then announce the engagement right in front of the media! I heard thatâs how Elliot proposed to youâ
So today at the Starlight Haven Hotel, Elliotâs grandfather Raymon and his parents were planning to trick Elliot?
Julie looked at Adeline. If Adeline knew, then only Elliot would be in the dark. âYouâre just going to watch Elliot get tricked?â Julie asked Adeline. Despite their outward disagreements, Julie knew that as twins, they cared for each other.
Adeline smiled at Julie. âDo I even need to answer that? If heâs not getting married, I am. I certainly canât help with this.â
True siblings indeed.
Adeline could tell what Julie was thinking. She patted Julieâs shoulder. âI know youâre not here to cause trouble, but given Elliotâs deep feelings for you, Iâll leave the task of rescuing him to you.â
With that, Adeline straightened her skirt and walked out with her head held high. Then Julie heard a gasp, Kieran? You came with Julie?â
Although Adeline had a delicate face, her voice was forceful
Julie quickly pushed open the bathroom door and stepped out. Kieran was standing quietly in his suit by the bathroom door, seemingly waiting for her.
Ever since Adeline found out that Julie was Kierans ex-wife, she had cut off all contact with Julie. In her anger, Adeline told Julie not to worry about. paying for the car she had damaged, because she didnât want anything to do with Julie anymore.
But clearly, Adeline wasnt one to hold grudges
Adeline at the door glanced at Kieran and then at Julie. Finally, her eyes landed on Julieâs face. âAre you two back together?â
âNever mind, I donât want to know. Anyway, I wonât be blessing youâ Adeline glared at Kieran. âYouâre blind for not choosing me.â
âUh-huh
Kieranâs response was brief, seeming not to care about Adelineâs words. He gently pulled Julie towards him, then lowered his head to gaze at Julieâs lips. âThe color looks good.â
Julie awkwardly glanced at Kieran
Adeline interjected. That good looking lipstick is sponsored by me. If youâre blind, you can get treated. Once youâre cured, remember to find me â
âIl pass on the treatment, Kieran said
The conversation was kind of funny. Julie tried to hold back her laughter.
Annoyed, Adeline told Julie, âAnyway, whether Elliot can be happy or not is up to you. You figure it out!
After giving Kieran another glare, she turned and left
Julie tried to follow, but Kieran easily lifted his arm, pinning her against the wall.
âWhat does Elliotâs happiness have to do with you? The man looked down at Julie, a smile on his lips that was hard to interpret.
Julie faced Kieran, looking directly into his eyes. âOf course Elliotâs happiness has to do with me.â
With that, she ducked under his arm. âIsnât the reason you brought me here today to watch Elliot get engaged to the daughter of Luminary Solutions? Letâs go, we donât want to miss the best part of the show and waste your good intentions!â
She was angry
Today was a banquet held by Ray Group and Luminary Solutions to celebrate their strategic partnership, Kieran did bring Julle here to attend the banquet, but he really didnât know about Bianca and Elliotâs engagement at the banquet. He didnât expect such a thing
Kieran followed Julie into the venue at a leisurely pace. Soon, Kieran was surrounded by people coming to pay their respects
Julie was pushed out by the crowd, but she was happy to be free and relaxed. Adelineâs words kept echoing in Julieâs ears. Elliotâs happiness was up to
her.
Just now, Kieran asked her what Elliotâs happiness had to do with her. Julie said it did, just to argue with him. Actually, at that moment, she thought that Elliotâs happiness indeed had something to do with her. If Elliot hadnât met her, he might have been happier than he was now.
But today, Elliot was about to be hitched to a woman he didnât love. Julie couldnât just stand by and let this happen, so she wanted to send Ellot a warning message. But then, she remembered that her phone had been handed over to Kieran by Karl. She didnât know Elliotâs number off the top of her head, and Karl wasnât in the venue. In other words, she was totally cut off from Elliot
Just then, a gentle voice came from the side. âAre you Julie?â
Hearing her name, Julie instinctively turned around. She saw a woman in a pink off-shoulder evening dress, a faint smile on her face, looking at her. This
T
was the first time Julie had ever been looked at like that. She subconsciously touched her face, wondering if her lipstick had gotten onto her teeth again.
âYou areâ¦â Julie searched through her memory. She hadnât seen this woman before. If she had seen such a beautiful woman, she surely would have remembered
The woman extended her hand with a smile, introducing herself, âHello, Ms. Abraham, Iâm Bianca. You might not know me, but I know a bit about youâ
âBianca Julie murmured, finally remembering that this was the woman Elliot was supposed to be getting engaged to, Bianca from Luminary Solutions.
Biancaâs hand was still in the air, waiting for Julieâs response. Julie instantly reached out her hand. She was about to shake Biancaâs hand when Bianca suddenly withdrew, leaving Julieâs hard awkwardly hanging in the air. Looked like Bianca was deliberately trying to embarrass her. Julie paused for a moment, then pulled back her hand
1 know Elliot likes you, Bianca stated bluntly. âBut after tonight, Iâll be Elliotâs fiancée. Iâd appreciate it if you could avoid showing up in front of Elliot. I might get a little touchy.â
Julie was taken aback for a moment, then responded, âOh,
Clearly, Bianca was pissed off by Julies simple reply. She glared at Julie. I think I made myself clear. I want you and Elliot to keep your distance. What does your ohâ mean?â
âOh, itâs a common exclamation, a kind of response. Maybe you dont know what oh means because you grew up abroad,â Julie explained with a smile.
âYou âBianca, indeed, grew up abroad. If not, she wouldnât have known Elliot, who also studied abroad, and she wouldnât have been so obsessed with him. Julies words left her speechless.
Bianca couldnât think of a response to Julieâs remark, so she just stared at her angrily. âYouâre just a divorceel Elliot came back to check on you after your divorce. It was just a whim. Do you really think he would like a woman like you for the rest of his life?â
Bianca must have been spoiled at home, so she had no qualms about insulting people. Julie was easygoing, but that didnât mean she would let Bianca walk all over her.
Though Bianca spoke quietly, Kieran, who had been watching Julie all along, noticed her approaching Julie. His cold gaze made those fawning people around him back off. As Kieran was about to step in, he heard Julie casually respond to Bianca. âMaybe Elliot is blind, thats why heâs into me, an old shoe someone else has worn, instead of you, a pair of brand new, luxurious high heels,â
Though Julie seemed to be saying that Elliot had bad taste, anyone with half a brain could tell that Julie was actually mocking Bianca for being all flash and na substance.
Bianca stared at Julie sharply With a smile on her face, Julie added, âOld shoes are good because theyâre comfortable. High heels may look glamorous, but they might not be that practical. Donât you agree, Ms. Riley?â
Perhaps realizing she couldnât argue with Julie, Biancaâs gaze turned icy. Suddenly, she spilled a glass of red wine on herself and forcefully pushed the glass into Julieâs hand.
Before Julie could react, she already had the glass in her hand.
