Chapter 129
Love’s Cunning Ruse ( Mr.Kieran And Julie )
Chapter 129
Adeline gave Julie the address for the meeting before ending the call.
Elliot turned to Julie and sincerely said, âThank you.â
âNo need to thank me. I didnât do anything I didnât tell you where Adeline and I were meeting.â
Julie was night. The phone was on speaker. It was Adeline herself who told Elliot the location, not Julie. So⦠this doesnât count as betrayal, right?
Thatâs how Julie comforted herself.
After dinner. Julie was about to go to the hospital, but was stopped by a distressed-looking Elliot.
Frowning, Julie looked at Elliot and asked, âWhat now?â
With a bashful look, Elliot asked Julie, âCan you come with me?â
âWhy?â Julie asked bluntly.
After a moment of silence, Elliot finally said, âCan you consider it as compensation for the first kiss you took from me?â
Julie suppressed the urge to punch him. She walked past Elliot towards the door without a word.
Perhaps Elliot was really anxious, because he immediately followed and said, âOr consider it as compensation for all the times youâve rejected me. Would you accompany me this once?â
âMr. Sanches, I never realized how annoying you can be! Julie felt like she had just betrayed Adeline, Thatâs why she was not feeling so good right now. And now Elliot was getting on her nerves.
Adeline was a very straightforward girl. Though they hadnât known each other for long, Julie really liked Adelineâs personality.
Generally, she wouldnât deliberately avoid someone or something without a good reason
But judging from Adelineâs behavior today, she really wanted to avoid Elliot, and yet Elliot was so eager to find her.
Which one of the twins was the one with the problem?
Julie shot Elliot a glare, but Elliot stood in front of her with a smile, âActually, thereâs something Iâve wanted to ask you for a long time.â
Julie just stared at Elliot. âMove it!â
Elliot continued to block Julieâs way, âAnswer my question, and Iâll let you go
After a momentâs hesitation, Julie said, âFire awayâ
âThat kiss before I went abroad, it wasnât your first kiss, was it?â
Julie froze at Elliots question.
Elliot said that people donât forget their first kiss. It was a serious and reasonable statement.
Elliot willingly gave his first kiss to Julie, but Julie never admitted that it was her first kiss.
The question was not important anymore, but Elliot knew, Julie would not answer him, she definitely wouldnâtâ¦
Taking a deep breath, Julie looked at Elliot and said, âLetâs go.â
She flagged down a taxi and got in.
Elliot followed Julie into the taxi, and told the driver the address of the café Adeline had mentioned.
On the way, Julie remained silent, staring out the window.
The passing scenery outside the window seemed like a backwards movie, replaying past events.
Julie recalled the moment when Kieran saw her kissing Elliot.
Kieran was not a smiley person. When he became serious, his aura was cold and commanding. His aloofness was fatally attractive to Julie back then.
Julie remembered him walking past her with his friends while Elliotâs lips were still pressed against hers.
She watched Kieran in a daze, and he just gave her a cold glance, then walked away with his friends.
At that moment, Julie felt a chill down her spine. She immediately pushed Elliot away, wiping her mouth while yelling at him, âYouâre done for! Youâre done for! You wait and see!â
Then she chased after Kieran.
Surprisingly, Kieran didnât get on his bike and leave immediately but he walked away.
Without a second thought, Julie grabbed his bike, and hurriedly explained, âKieran, donât get me wrong. Itâs not what you think. Elliotâ¦â
âLet go of me.â Kieran looked at Julie coldly.
Julle held onto the bike firmly and said, âIt was an accident. I didnât mean to, I swear!!â
Kieran responded coldly to Julieâs desperate explanation, âIt has nothing to do with me.â
Julie was used to Kieranâs indifference, so she could calmly hold onto Kieranâs bike and ask, âWhat do you mean?â
Kieran let go, staring at Julie expressionlessly
Feeling wronged, Julie looked at Kieran, âCanât you be angry? Canât you be jealous? I kissed someone else, donât you have any reaction?â Julie was extremely emotional, but all she got was a concise answer from Kieran, âAre you sure youâre not loosing my bike?â
Holding onto the bike tightly. Julie said firmly, âNo way!!â
As soon as she finished her sentence, Kieran turned around and left, not even wanting his bike.
Julie was stunned for a moment before she came to her senses, Pushing Kieranâs bike, she chased after him, âKieran, donât go! Explain yourself!!*
As she chased after Kieran, Julie asked, âAre you really not angry?â
âThree metersâ Kieran glanced at Julie.
For the first time, Julie didnât back down. She decided to stay with Kieran. For the first time, she couldnât control her emotions and her eyes reddened in front of him, âCanât you care about me a little?â
âNo.â
Kieranâs answer was without hesitation.
Julie, who had been babbling non-stop beside Kieran, suddenly fell silent
She pulled over, grabbed Kieranâs sleeve, her eyes welling up, âIs it because you donât love me that you think anything I do has nothing to do with you? Even if I go back to Elliot right now, youâd still be fine with it?â
Julieâs voice was hoarse with accusation, but all she got in return was Kieranâs silence.
In that moment, Julie was truly hurt. She let go of Kieran, took a deep breath, and stubbornly turned to walk towards Elliot.
Only she knew that as she turned, tears poured down her face. As she wiped them awayâ¦.
âIs snatching first kisses your hobby?â
Kieranâs cold voice came from behind.
Julie stopped in her tracks, even her tear wiping motion frozen.
A few seconds later, she whipped around to look at Kieran, her eyes lighting up. âSo last time⦠was it really your first kiss?â
Kieran didnât respond, instead turning to walk towards the bus stop.
Al that point, Julle didnât hesitate. She grabbed Kieranâs bike and pedaled after him.
Once more, she yelled at Kieran, âWait for me!â
âWhat did you mean by what you just said? Are you jealous? Are you angry? Donât ignore me! Get on the bike, Iâll give you a ride home! Iâm really good at cycling!â
Although none of Julieâs words got a response from Kieran, she chased after him with a certain joy.
Julle thought, if she hadnât turned back at that moment, maybe there wouldnât have been a âwhat happened nextâ between her and Kieran. And if Kieran had been ruthlessly rejected her one more time, she wouldnât have kept chasing him.
Looking back, the reason she had managed to stick by Kieranâs side for all these years was because Kieran had given her hope.
Every time she decided to forget him, every time she hid from him, this man she hardly saw would mysteriously appear in front of her time and time again.
Back then, Julie thought it was fate, which is why she kept softening.
Each time, she told herself that maybe if she just tried a little harder, just a little, she might be able to get closer to him.
But in the end, it came to this.
Her thoughts wandering, Julie wore a bitter smile, dodging the question Elliot had just asked her in that moment, Julie was suddenly reminded of Kieran, of how she had given her first kiss to himâ¦
More accurately, how she had rudely stolen his first kissâ¦.
As Julie was lost in her thoughts, the driverâs voice rang out, âWeâre at the San Faith Café.â
Julie got off the taxi with Elliot.
However, Elliot didnât directly follow Julie into the café. Instead, he stood at the entrance, watching Julie, and cautiously said, âIâll call you. Donât hang up when you go in, okay?â
âArenât you here to meet Adeline? Why donât you just go in?â Julle was puzzled.
âIâm afraid shell run away if she sees me,â Elliot said, his gaze intense.
Julie finally agreed, since she was here to discuss compensation with Adeline anyway
Ever since she crashed Adelineâs car, Julie had been making monthly payments, but Adeline just sent all the money back to her account in one go a few days ago. Julie had planned to discuss it with Adeline when she returned to Whispering Pines to pick up Sansa. This time, she could take the opportunity to clear things up.
When Julie entered the private room, Adeline had already ordered a cappuccino for her.
âAre you sure you came alone?â
Adeline was dressed differently today, in a white t-shirt and black skinny jeans. The lace-up boots made her look particularly cool
Thinking about the phone in her pocket that was still on the call, Julie vaguely nodded.
âMs. Sanches, why are you in Oakhurst?â Julie just tossed out the question, hoping to divert the conversation, not expecting Adeline to
answer.
Unexpectedly, Adeline casually looked at her, said with a smile, âI suddenly realized that Elliot and I are not real twins. I donât even have any blood relation to the Sanches family. I couldnât accept it, so I ran away from home.â
Julie went silent.
