Chapter 231
Love’s Cunning Ruse ( Mr.Kieran And Julie )
Chapter 231
Julie suddenly realized she didnât know a thing about Kyle, the guy who was nearly her brother-in-law, and she didnât really know Sansa either.
Looking back, she noticed that Sansa always had her back whenever she was in a jam, but she never really had a heart-to-heart about Kyle with her.
Even when the whole Abraham Group was going belly up. Sansa still managed to set Julie up with Kieran. Although she was using Kieran, she was always looking
out for her sister.
These thoughts sent Julie into deep contemplation.
Kieran knew what was going on in Julieâs head. He put his arm around her, pulling her close, âWeâve still got a ways to go before we reach Noblewood Retreat. You can take a nap. Iâll wake you when we get home.â
Julie leaned on Kieranâs shoulder, closed her eyes and began to speak slowly, âThe news said that the president of S&J International Law Firm went abroad this time to set up a new office here. If heâs in love with Jessica, why would he shell out big bucks to buy Sansa my motherâs ring?â
âThat depends on whether he knows Sansa is in a vegetative state now.â Kieranâs words left Julie somewhat puzzled.
All she knew now was that no matter what happened in the future, she had to face it bravely.
Maybe it was due to the lack of sleep the previous night, Julie dozed off unknowingly.
On their way home, Dylan whispered, âBertha once said that Lucian bears a grudge against Julie because he thought you were forced to marry her and that she ruined your happiness. But now, you and Julie are always so lovey-dovey, both in public and in private. He must know that if he watches the news. So why would he still want to get rid of Julie? I mean, if tonightâs van was really targeting Julieâ¦â
âBefore we puzzle over that, shouldnât we also ponder why heâs reluctant to come back to us?â Kieran, holding Julie in his arms, asked Dylan.
Dylan found this question very reasonable and nodded in agreement, âIf he really survived the plane crash by sheer luck, why wouldnât he acknowledge you, his only kin?â
âAnd before we ponder that, shouldnât we also wonder how a person could possibly survive a plane crash like that?â
Dylan exclaimed excitedly. âExactly! How did Lucian, whoâs disabled in both legs, survive that plane crash? Thereâs a lot of suspicion there!â
But no matter how many questions there were, as long as he was still alive, all the questions would eventually be answered.
Dylan smoothly parked the car at the entrance of Noblewood Retreat.
Kieran said, âItâs kinda late now. You can crash here for the night.â
Dylan nodded, then got out of the car to open the door for Kieran.
Julie was sound asleep. Even when the car had stopped, she didnât open her eyes.
âDo you need to wake her up?â Dylan asked.
Without responding, Kieran picked Julie up and started heading towards the house.
Following behind them, Dylan couldnât help but say, âKieran, youâre going to spoil her rotten.â
Kieran, carrying Julie, suddenly said, âYouâll understand some day.â
Dylan caught up and asked, âUnderstand what?â
Kieran replied, âUnderstand the feeling of extreme guilt when your woman is wronged even a little bit.â
Dylan asked, âThen why did you let her suffer for so many years?â Although he knew about Kieranâs love for her, the facts of the past few years were undeniable.
Kieran, holding her, suddenly stopped, smiled slightly and said, âThatâs why I feel guilty.â
Dylan said, âEven so, everyone has their own unique way of loving someone. No matter the method, at least your intentions were good.â
Kieran said, âMen always have endless excuses when consoling themselves.â
Dylan looked at Kieran in surprise, âKieran, did you touch yourself too much last night that youâre not in your right mind today?â
As Kieran carried Julie upstairs, he said, âIâm just reminding you to not make the same mistakes that I did and end up regretting it.â
Dylan followed asking, âWhere am I sleeping tonight?â
Kieran replied, âThe room where Coco stayed last time. Ask Shannon.â
Being the sensible guy he was, Dylan decided not to disturb Kieran and Julie any longer. He went downstairs to Shanpon and asked her with a smile, âShannon, I need to stay here tonight. Which room did Coco stay in last time?â
âWhat?â Shannon looked out the window with a weird expression.
âWhatâs wrong?â Dylan looked at her innocently.
Shannon pointed to a dog house in the garden outside the window and said, âYou mean there?â
Dylan asked in surprise, âCoco is a dog?â
Shannon nodded and said, âYes. Coco is Ivanâs classmateâs dog.â
Dylan stomped his feet in anger. Kieran actually wanted him to sleep in a dog house!
Kieran placed her on the side of the bed, covered her with a blanket, and then sat by her side, quietly watching her. He gently reached out to brush the stray hair from her forehead, but she opened her eyes and asked, âAre we home?â
Before Kieran could answer, she realized she was already in their familiar bedroom. She didnât even know when they had gotten there.
She looked at the man who had been watching her, realizing she had been sleeping in his arms. She asked, âWhatâs wrong?â
He leaned down and, taking her by surprise, kissed her forehead, âMy wife is beautifulâ
Julie should have been moved. His serious expression and sincer
compliment were heartwarming.
But when her gentle words came to her lips, they turned into âare you blind?â.
Julie wouldnât exactly qualify as a total knockout. In comparison, she thought Kieranâs look was the real deal.
Holding his face, she asked, âDonât you get dazzled by your own reflection when you look in the mirror?â
âI donât look in the mirror that often,â he answered seriously.
âI was initially smitten by your looks,â Julie admitted in a whisper. Seeing Kieranâs warning look, she quickly added smartly, âI fell for your looks, then got hooked on your talent, and finally stayed for your character.â
âDo you know your best feature?â he suddenly asked.
Instinct told Julie this was a trap, but she risked being made a fool of and replied with a smile, âNone of my features can compare to yours.â
âYouâre getting smarter.â
âThen you better stop trying to make a fool of me!â
Kieran nodded sincerely, then asked Julie, âDo you think I look this good because we have good genes in our family?â
Julie had met Kieranâs parents. His mother was really beautiful before she became mentally ill, her graceful and generous demeanor was unforgettable. His father was also quite handsome. Kieranâs parents looked like a perfect match, a match made in heaven.
Both Kieran and Lucian had inherited their parentsâ advantages and were quite handsome..
So when Kieran asked this question, Julie didnât hesitate and nodded, âOf course! If your parents didnât have good genes, how could they have a kid like you?â
âThen my genes must be good too, otherwise I wouldnât have a child like Ivan.â
âHold on,â Julie lifted her head and laughed at Kieran, âAre you blowing your own trumpet?â
âWhat Iâm trying to say is, if we had a daughter, would she look like you or me?â
Julie looked at Kieran helplessly, âYou went around in circles just to ask me this?â
âLetâs sleep, babe.â Kieran held her tightly in his arms and turned off the light.
She naively thought they were really going to sleep, but when the light went off, she realized it was just a smokescreen.
Kieranâs hand slowly moved up to her waist.
Julie caught his hand, âI thought you said we were going to sleep?â
âExactly. Close your eyes.â He stopped moving, playing along.
As soon as Julie closed her eyes, warm lips landed on her neck.
Julie shrank back, her heart rate sped up, âAre you trying to catch me off guard?â
âI just discovered a red⦠mark here,â Kieranâs deep voice echoed in Julieâs ear. He poked her neck with a cool finger, âItâs a hickey.â
âBecause last night youâ¦â Before she could finish, Julie suddenly closed her mouth.
Kieran probed, âSo do you remember how it got there?â
âDo you really not remember anything about last night?â Julie opened her eyes, turned around, and laid her head on his chest, asking curiously.
âI remember that last night I was on the phone and went downstairs to get something I checked the call history this morning and called back that number.â
In other words, he knew that he had condoms delivered last night.
âDid we use those things?â Kieran asked.
Julie didnât answer.
After about ten seconds of silence in the room, Kieranâs thin lips suddenly brushed against her ear. He said, âMrs. Hernandez, shall we reenact the scene?
