Chapter 249
Love’s Cunning Ruse ( Mr.Kieran And Julie )
Chapter 249
Kieran, âThe task is a piece of cake for you and wonât take up much of your time.â
âI donât want to help!â
âAre you sure you donât want to help?â
-âIâm positive!â
âLet me ask again, you sure you donâtâwant to lend a hand?â
âIâm sure I donât!â
âWhat do you feel like eating tonight?â
âCeviche.â After saying this, Dylan slapped himself. âNo, I decided not to eat! I have principles!â
Dylan then picked up the menu to cover his face, knowing from a young age that Kieran was a crafty one; especially when he was being overly generous, one had to be extra cautious.
âAlright, Iâll make ceviche for you tonight.â Kieran took the menu from Dylanâs hands and said, âHelp me book a reliable psychologist.â
âA psychologist?â Dylan asked in surprise. âWho needs a psychologist?â
âMe.â
Dylan lit up immediately, staring into Kieranâs eyes. âYou need a psychologist? Look no further, Iâm a psychologist, capable of tackling all kinds of mental issues. I have an official certificate to prove it, Iâm extremely professional, and you can trust me. Since weâre pals, I can give you a discount, spill it, whatâs been bothering you?â
âI asked you to find me a âreliableâ psychologist.â
âIâm not just reliable, Iâm super reliable, with exceptional professional skills,â Dylan said, keeping a steady gaze on Kieran, observing his every move. After a careful examination, he furrowed his brows slightly. âYouâre speaking hastily, holding things close to your chest as if to maintain distance. These are signs of anxiety. All your features are drawn to the center of your face, indicating disgust. Youâre anxious and disgusted, and youâre looking for a psychologist, let me guessâ¦â
âAnd you youâre furrowing your brows, showing confidence? Do you really think you can guess why I need a psychologist?â Kieran tapped on the table and said, âLetâs make a bet. If you guess right, Iâll make you dinner every day for a week. If youâre wrong, youâll have to go on a blind date, deal?â
If it was anyone else, Dylan would have agreed without a second thought. But facing the crafty Kieran, Dylan dared not to agree hastily.
âDo you really think Iâm the type of person to do such boring stuff?â Dylan pointed at Kieran and said, âI will find you a psychologist, and youâre still making me ceviche tonight, plus Iâm ordering at least four dishes.â
âDeal.â
Dylan pulled out his phone to looked up a number, while Kieran reminded him, âMake sure to keep me anonymous, Iâll do a phone consultation.â
âI got it!â Dylan dialed a number on his phone, exchanged a few words with the person on the other end, then hung up.
âIâll give you his number,â Dylan said, giving Kieran a string of numbers. âJust so you know, Taylor is an expert in relationship counseling.â
âThatâs great.â
âWhat? Is it really about a relationship problem?â Dylan indicated that he only mentioned relationship counseling to play around with Kieran; he didnât expect Kieran to actually have relationship issues.
Dylan was surprised and grabbed Kieranâs sleeve. âDidnât you and your wife make up already? How come there are relationship issues again? Arenât you two being a bit too dramatic? Itâs easy to please a woman. Either buy her stuff and max out your card, or just cuddle and sleep⦠wait, hahaha, I think I just figured out
something big.â
Kieran gave Dylan a glare. âShut up!â
âKieran, let me tell you, men shouldnât bottle up their problems! In my opinion, seeing a psychologist wonât help, you need to seek a professional. Here, take this number. Itâs a specialist.â Dylan scrolled through his phone and handed Kieran a number.
Kieran took a glance, the note under the number read. Dr. Smith, Head of Urology.
Kieran picked up a menu and threw it at Dylanâs face. âCeviche?! You better prepare for a Dylan stew tonight!â
âMy meat isnât that tasty.â Dylan tossed the menu off his face and pointed at Dr. Smithâs number on his phone and said to Kieran. âKieran, Iâm serious, this is a medical issue, and the sooner you deal with it, the better. I just want to ask, after you and your wife made up, did you guys have a normal marital life?â
âAs the president of the Single Peopleâs Care Association, I also want to ask, did you want to find a partner to end your single life?â
This heartless guy! Dylan quickly caught up and said, âKieran, Iâm genuinely concerned about you, did anything happen that night you got drunk? Does seeing your wife remind you of your hand?â
Dylan quickly followed. âKieran, donât be shy, Iâm a professional psychologist. By the way, Kieran, where are you going?â
Kieran pulled out his phone.
*Kieran, your situation wonât be fixed by a phone consultation, let me book an appointment for you with Dr. Smith tomorrow morning?â
âHello, is this Dylanâs grandfather? About the matter you mentioned last time, finding Dylan a partner, Iâve looked into it, Dylan said heâs willingâ¦..
âDamn it!â Dylan quickly anatched the phone from Kieran and promptly hung up.
Kieran took back his phone, and Dylan once again caught up.
Kieran turned around and glared at Dylan, who immediately stopped in his tracks. He finally got a taste of what it felt like to be courting death.
Karl opened the car door, and Kieran got in. Then, he opened his WhatsApp using the name, âJ Kennedy,â added Taylorâs number, clarified his identity, and asked Taylor for his payment account, and then transferred the consultation fee to Taylor.
Taylor. [Patient, what issues would you like to consult about?]
Kieran held his phone and typed a long string of text. His finger was already on the send button, but after hesitating for a long time, he deleted all of it. Taylor, on the other end, seemed very patient, waiting for Kieranâs response.
Kieran typed out his question again, but each time he was about to hit send, he couldnât muster the courage. After five or six hesitations, Kieran simply turned off his phone and tossed it aside.
Karl, who was driving, asked with concern, âSir, you seem a bit off.â
After a moment of silence, Kieran suddenly looked up at Karl in the rear-view mirror. âKarl, I have a question for you.â
âGo ahead.â
âDo you get along with your wife?â,
As the car made an S-turn on the road, a nervous Karl glanced at Kieran in the mirror. âBoss, did I do something wrong?â
âForget it.â Kieran picked up his phone and turned it back on.
Karl thought for a moment. Since Kieran had asked, he figured he should politely answer. âSir, me and my wife are actually on pretty good terms.â
âWhen do you plan on having children?â
Startled, Karl made another S-turn with the car. He found Kieranâs questions today to be⦠quite baffling!
âIf you donât want to answer, thatâs fine,â Kieran said.
Karl had no choice but to reply, âAbout having a baby⦠I canât decide that on my own!â
âKarl, do you ever feel like the pressure at work is too much like youâre always rushed off your feet? Likeâ¦â Kieran suddenly paused, then waved his hand dismissively. âNever mind.â
Karl was wondering if his boss had lost his marbles!
After a cautious drive back to Noblewood Retreat, Karl finally let out a sigh of relief.
Just as Kieran was about to get out of the car, giving Karl the impression he was finally free, he suddenly shut the car door again and asked, âKarl, have you ever done anything totally crazy?â
Under the barrage of Kieranâs pointed questions, Karl finally lost it. âBoss, I assure you that I am utterly loyal to you. Iâve never done anything wrong by you, let alone anything utterly crazy. Pleaseâ¦â
Before he could finish, Kieran had already left the car. At last, Karl was finally free.
When Kieran walked in, he saw Ivan spinning around like a top in the kitchen, taking a peek in its direction every few steps.
Shannon laughed and grabbed Ivanâs collar. âIvan, stop spinning around. Youâre making me dizzy.â
âShannon, my mom looks so beautiful in an apron. I want to marry a woman just as beautiful when I grow up.â Ivan was practically drooling as he stared at his motherâs figure.
It turned out that Julie was cooking dinner.
With a pleased smile playing at the corner of his mouth, Kieran walked over, picked up the obstructive Ivan, and tossed him aside. Pointing at Julieâs back, he said to his son, âSuch a beautiful woman is one of a kind in the world, and sheâs already married to me.â
âHmph! Iâm the man my mom cares about the most.â
Kieran lightly patted Ivanâs head, tossed his coat over the little guyâs head, and took the chance to enter the kitchen. He closed the door and locked it, moving quickly and smoothly. Suddenly plunged into darkness, Ivan struggled to free himself from the coat. When he finally emerged, he found that the door had been locked by
his father.
Regretfully, Ivan kicked the door and then yelled in pain, holding his foot.
Hearing the door close, Julie, who was stewing meat, turned around. Before she could see who had entered, she was enveloped in Kieranâs embrace. As she looked up, his kiss descended. He held her tightly around the waist, spun her around, and then pushed her onto the kitchen island. His sweet kiss robbed her of breath, not giving her a momentâs respite.
