Chapter 3
When Julie woke up again, she found herself in a strange kingâsize bed.
The dark grey sheets in front of her eyes had a calming vibe. There was a faint smell of Cologne on the quilt, which gave Julie a familiar feeling, like something from the deep place within her memory. The scent filled her nostrils instantly.-
She stared blankly into space for a minute or two before the memories of what had happened earlier started flooding back in.
The recollection filled her with fear. She became aware of her own body again, and her leg started to
hurt.
There was a male voice from outside the door. He was speaking in detail, âMs. Abrahamâs condition is not serious. Itâs just malnutrition. Sheâs been anemic, which means she couldnât keep up with her nutritional needs. Besides, with the fact that she was worn out and not getting enough rest, she fainted from exhaustion. She just needs to recuperate and sheâll be fine. Once her health stabilizes, she can start replenishing her body. As for the wound on her leg, itâs nothing serious. She just needs to rest in bed for a few days and sheâll be fine. Try to keep her movement to a minimum during these days.â
This unfamiliar environment made Julie uneasy. Hearing the doctorâs words, she hurriedly threw off the quilts and frowned at the bandages on her leg.
Just as she was about to get out of bed, the bedroom door was gently pushed open from the outside.
Julie immediately froze, just staring blankly towards the door.
In the backlight at the doorway, a tall and familiar figure was slowly approaching.
Who else could it be but Kieran?
He was dressed in a bespoke Italian suit. The dark grey fabric made him look even taller and more composed. He stood at the door emotionless, looking cold and distant. This was exactly the man who Julie remembered â noble, charismatic, and compelling.
âDidnât you hear the doctor saying you need to rest in bed?â His calm voice echoed over Julieâs head, devoid of any emotion, leaving Julie unsure whether he was worried about her.
She frowned. Of course, sheâd heard. Not only had she heard the doctor saying that she needed to rest in bed, but sheâd also heard him saying that she had fainted from overwork. She was quite impressed with her own survival abilities.
She looked around the room, and the quiet ambiance told her that this was Kieranâs place.
Knowing this, Julie was even more determined to get out of bed and leave. Regardless of how much her leg hurt, she stubbornly stood up and limped towards the door, passing by the man standing by the bed without even giving him a glance.
But the resentment in her eyes never faded.
Her stubbornness finally pissed off Kieran. Before she had a chance to reach the door, her wrist was tightly gripped by Kieran.
Julie turned her head, her eyes full of rage. She stared at the man in front of her, voice cold and hard, âLet go of me!â
She struggled, trying to shake off Kieranâs hand, but was pinned against the door by him.
