Chapter 285.2. He’s Heimdall

Like a hero in an action movie, Mii-chan used the obstacles to her advantage and ran to the temple without getting caught by the zombies.

Heimdall chased after Mii-chan, perching on the roof, and a High Zombie tackled her. She lightly jumped, using the High Zombie’s head as a stepping stone, and continued running.

“I’m not quite sure myself.”

Heimdall, clinging to my shoulder, shrugged his small shoulders.

“What? You don’t know at all?”

As I jumped to the next house’s roof and took over, I asked Heimdall, who nodded.

“I lost my self-awareness after my physical form got destroyed on Ragnarok. I drifted through the liminal space of the world. It was only a few months ago that I faintly regained consciousness. I was here, in this desolate God Realm.”

“That recent!”

This time, a Zombie on the roof tackled me as I climbed. I jumped lightly, stomped on Zombie’s head, then continued running.

“Yes, indeed. I believe the others are in the same situation.”

As the houses disappeared, leaving only a path leading to the temple, I ran fervently to avoid being caught. I couldn’t afford to engage in battles with so many enemies and had to rely on her agility because I couldn’t use the -Fight- command.

“With my newly regained self-awareness, my first thought was that I wanted a physical body. Everyone used the power of the Golden energy, which dances in the sky, to obtain their physical forms.”

“Even though they’re Zombies?”

“Yes. It seems the ruler of this God Realm is rather unpleasant and didn’t disperse the Golden energy enough for complete resurrection.”

“So, the result of incomplete resurrection is Zombies. But why did Heimdall have self-awareness?”

Among the resurrected gods, Heimdall seemed to be the only one with his full self intact. Why?

“Because I realized there was an intention to control the gods. The first thing I did was to strengthen my self-awareness with the meager Golden energy I acquired. Thanks to that, I couldn’t obtain a physical body.”

“That was a smart choice!”

Finally, we reached the statue of the goddess, which was half-ruined. It was enormous, possibly surpassing the Great Buddha in Kamakura.

Despite being a goddess statue, it had a somewhat eerie and ominous aura. When I touched it, it felt cold and rough, made of stone.

Glancing back, I saw a horde of zombies approaching like a tsunami.

“Okay, I just need to climb onto the head of the goddess statue. Here goes!”

With my feet on the ground, it was like rock climbing, even with my limited physical abilities.

“Hey, hey, the exit door is at the back of the temple. Why are you climbing the goddess statue?”

“Because there’s a quest up here.”

With many cracks and indentations, I easily climbed it up, eventually reaching the top.

Standing on the statue’s head, I had a panoramic view of the ashen city, which was already swarmed by countless Zombies below.

Climbing up the statue like ants finding sugar, Zombies coming for me were eerie and terrifying.

Like a dragon of fire, the flames raced through the ashen world.
