Chapter 170
The Spare Wife by Nadia Gordon
Chapter 170 I Have No Parents Everyone knew about the close bond between Abigail and her cousin Sean, who regarded her as incredibly important in his life.
He had even spent money to set up a trailer on the set for her, complete with electric heaters to keep her warm during breaks, as he was concerned about her well-being.
Abigail hadnât expected Sean to come in person and she was feeling a bit tired of the situation.
As members of the crew gradually left, Abigail and Sean entered the trailer. She took her seat and asked him, âWerenât you busy with the New Yearâs Eve gala?â
âIâm done with that now, and I wanted to spend New Yearâs Eve here with you,â Sean said in a gentle tone.
He appeared casual on the surface but was secretly observing Abigail.
Abigail remained composed. âItâs better for you to go home. Itâs New Yearâs Eve. I wouldnât want your grandmother to call me and upset me.â
Sean knew that Abigailâs words were entirely valid.
âRegarding Ericâs situation... I donât think itâs simple. Be careful when dealing with him on the set.â Sean couldnât help but offer a warning.
âAfter we finish shooting, we wonât have any chance to meet. You donât need to worry about it,â Abigail replied coldly.
Sean leaned against a nearby table and asked Abigail, âAbout half a month ago, Alana personally made a down jacket for him and had it delivered here, right?â
He clearly knew that Abigail was Alana, but he couldnât bring himself to ask directly.
âWhat does that have to do with me?â Abigail asked with a sly smile.
âHow could it not have anything to do with you? L.Moonâs assistant said it was your order. Heâs a big shot, yet he respected you, a little assistant,â Sean said ambiguously.
âYeah. Josie will also be ordering a dress from our studio because of me. Josie likes me too. When the time comes, Iâll divorce you and get into a relationship with her.â Abigail deliberately provoked Sean.
Sean stared at her intently. âWhat if it really is Eric? Your L.Moon will be finished.â
âToo bad itâs not,â Abigail said indifferently. She packed up her bag before asking him, âIs that all? Iâm leaving now. In my heart, youâve completely ruined your image, and your credibility is non-
existent.â
Sean looked at her with disbelief. âYou believe Eric but not me?â
âThe facts have made me believe that he is innocent. You said that evidence is required for everything, but where is your evidence? When you told me on the phone, I even asked him based on my speculation, but he is truly innocent,â Abigail explained.
âThere are so many coincidences in this matter...â
you in âSean, I donât want to talk to you about these things. I shouldnât have been entangled with the first place. At most, you can avoid me until after the new year. If you donât divorce me by then, I will sue you,â Abigail said as her expression turned cold and determined.
âDo we have to do this?â Sean gripped the edge of the table tightly.
âI will talk to my grandmother about this. Your grandmother, on the other hand, is wishing very badly that I will divorce you. I think the timing is right,â Abigail said, walked past Sean, and exited the trailer.
She appreciated Seanâs care during this period, but when she thought about it, wasnât he just as considerate and gentle toward Joan when he disliked her?
Joanâs present was her future.
Sean hugged Abigail from behind. âI will investigate this matter thoroughly. Please donât bring up divorce again. If you donât accept my grandmother, I wonât let you two meet. Okay?â
âNo,â Abigail said decisively.
âAbby... Honey.â Sean held her tightly and kissed her neck.
Abigailâs body trembled slightly. âWatch your actions! This is the set.â
He buried his head in her neck and asked, âWhat do I need to do for you not to be angry?â
Abigail didnât understand why Sean still thought she was angry at this point.
âLet me go,â Abigail said wearily. âIâve had a busy day today, and Iâm very tired.â
Sean loosened his grip on her.
When Abigail returned to her hotel room, she locked the door, sat by the window, and looked out at the snowy landscape. She felt empty inside.
Sean had been good to her, and she was affectionate toward him, but she was afraid of getting hurt.
That night, Abigail couldnât sleep.
Over the next few days, Sean was on set every day. He tried to talk to her, but she was distant.
On the other hand, Eric had resumed his morning runs together with Abigail.
âIt looks like those warm clothes are working. Your hands have improved. How about your feet?â Eric ran backward while smiling at Abigail.
There were tiny beads of sweat on her face. âTheyâre better too.â
Sean had helped her massage them, and after a few days, they had healed completely. Coupled with the shoes he had bought, there had been no recurrence.
âThatâs great. Your cousin is really attentive and capable. I felt helpless before.â Eric smiled as he turned back to face the front and ran side by side with Abigail.
Upon thinking about Seanâs suspicions of Eric, Abigail smiled and said, âMeh, heâs not that great.â
She finished speaking and looked at the sky.
Eric glanced at her inquisitively, but when he turned his gaze back to the front, the feigned smile in his eyes slowly faded, and it was replaced by a deep sense of sadness.
âI rarely see you call your family. Arenât your parents urging you to come home for New Year?â he asked all of a sudden.
Abigail replied with a faint smile, âI donât have parents. I was raised by my grandparents.â
Eric abruptly halted, and when she turned around to look at him, he immediately caught up and said, âIâm... sorry.
âItâs fine,â Abigail replied calmly. She had no memories of her parents and, therefore, no emotional attachment or sorrow.
