Chapter 29

(Eva's POV)

I woke up to the sun shining in my face. I sat up and rubbed my face. I noticed it was kinda wet so when I looked down I saw the mascara from the night before all on my hands.

Last night I couldn't stop crying so I literally cried myself to sleep. Thinking about it right now made Rosie whimper.

'Hey Rosie?'

'Yes Eva?'

'We're doing the right thing right?'

'If you believe it is right then it is. My opinion shouldn't matter.'

'Has Braxton wolf talked to you?'

'Rider. His name is rider and no he hasn't. I could feel that he was hurt that we would even suggest that.'

'I'm sorry Rosie. I know you care for rider but I can't keep feeling like I'm not good enough for Braxton.'

'I know. I just wish he would want us.'

'Me too, Rosie. Me too.'

I cut the connection because I knew she needed time to be alone. As did I. I got up and decided I need to shower.

Sighing I finally decided to get up from the bed.

I walked passed the mirror and if I thought I looked bad earlier, that's nothing to what I actually look like right now.

I had mascara coming down my eyes and it was smeared all over my face. My hair looked like a raccoon attacked it and my eyes looked like someone drew marker all around them.

I took a shower, brushed my teeth, and combed out my hair. My eyes had bags underneath them and I looked really tired.

My thoughts were interrupted when I heard someone knocking on the door. I tighten my silky red robe considering I still hadn't gotten dressed.

I smelled mint so I knew who it was. I opened the door and it revealed a very sympathetic looking Mickey who was holding ice cream and the movie "The Notebook".

"So I'm not sure how to cheer up people but ice cream makes me feel better."

I stared at him and nodded my head. I opened the door to let him in and he pulled out chocolates out of his pockets.

Giving him a weird look he just shrugged his shoulders.

"What? Chocolate is always good for the soul."

"I'm going to get changed." I walked into my closet and threw on some Pj's making sure not to hit my bandages. Even though we heal fast it still doesn't mean we're perfectly fine.

I threw on a black tank top, and some blue pants owl Pj's. They were fluffy so it didn't irritate my bandages too much.

I walked back out to find Mickey laying on his stomach eating ice cream. He looked up from his container and patted the spot next to him.

I laid down and he handed me a strawberry ice cream container and a spoon. He put the blanket over both of us, and tissues out in front. I looked at him confused and he just shrugged his shoulders.

"This movie is sad and I'm a cry baby. Don't judge me." He turned back to the tv and pushed play.

An hour into the movie tissues were everywhere and we were both crying. Hey, what can I say? It's really sad!

Knock ... Knock.. Knock

Choosing to ignore it since the movie is just that good. Nate decided to walk in without permission and he just looked at us shocked.

Mickey jumped up off the bed and bowed,

"Alpha Nathaniel. My apologies I didn't know it was you at the door."

"It's alright. If you please, I'd like to speak to Eva alone.."

"Uhhh yea sure. I'll see you later Eva."

Mickey walked out and the tension in the air was thick. I sat up hoping he was going to talk first.

"Eva look I'm really sorry. I didn't mean what I said. Well I did but didn't. It's just... Of course I want to see you happy! Making you happy is important to me but with Braxton!? I don't know why the moon goddess would do this. He's no good Eva and even you have to see that.. "

Hearing Nate talk about Braxton brought tears to my eyes. I didn't want to cry for him but he was my mate. A mate who rejected me.

So I buried my face in my hands and let the tears fall. I felt the bed dip and an arm around me. I buried my face in Nate's shirt and cried. I didn't know how long I cried for but I did. After awhile I was just hiccuping. Nate pulled back and wiped the tears from my eyes.

"It's ok. I forgive you Nate. I'm sorry for how I acted yesterday and how I didn't listen. I just.... Emily needed me. And I knew I had to do something Nate.. I just had too."

"Shhhhh... I know. It's fine. I'm glad you did what you did. But next time tell me. You can't just go off fighting random rogues ok?"

"Ok... But I was good wasn't I?" He laughed at that but nodded his head.

"You did ok... Which reminds me...."

'Pack training in 20 minutes. Women and children under the age of 10 don't have to train. But 11 and older do. It is mandatory.'

'Yes Alpha' is what came after his mind link to everyone.

"So... We good?" He asked looking down at me.

"Yea. We're good."

"Cool. Now get ready. Training starts in a little kid."

He messed up my hair and got up before I cold smack him.

"Yes Alpha Nathaniel"

I mind linked him just to see him roll his eyes at me.

"You know I love you, right?"

"I do now." He nodded his head at me and left.

Now I was alone. I decided to get changed and eat before we head out.

I threw on my black Nike shorts, a white tank top, and black and white Nike shoes. I left my hair down since it was still wet.

I could hear Danny, Alex and few others in the kitchen and let me tell you, someone knows how to cook because it smelt amazing. I ran down the 8 flights of stairs and walked into the kitchen.

As soon as I did everyone went quiet.

In the kitchen was Danny, Destiny, Alex, Athena, Nate and My father.

Talk about awkward.

"Uhhh hey guys. I just came to get some food...." I didn't know what else to say so I just walked over to the fridge.

"How are you Eva?" I turned towards Destiny and her eyes showed such pitty for me I almost cringed.

"Uhhh fine? I'm just hungry that's all." I went to grab eggs but Athena got up from the table and slammed the door closed.

"No need to cook, I already did. Here." She was all smiles and peppy. I can see why her and Alex are mates.

She walked to the oven and took out a big plate of food. It had pancakes, eggs, bacon, peach cobbler, strawberries and sausages. She handed me the plate and poured me some orange juice and handed that to me as well.

"Wow. This looks amazing. Thanks Athena."

"No problem. Anything I can do since you basically got rejected and stuff...." I was halfway from putting a fork full of strawberries in my mouth when she said that. I stopped and I could feel my throat tighten.

"Athena!" Destiny smacked her in the back of the head.

"I know, I know! I didn't.... Eva... I'm sorry! I didn't mean it like that! I was just saying you know? Because of yesterday and stuff.. Eva I'm...."

"Stop." I put the fork down, and pushed the plate away. I looked at everyone and the only one who looked angry was Nate. Everyone else just looked surprised.

"It's fine Athena. You're right, I was rejected. I'm really not hungry anymore. I'm going to go for a run Nate. I'll be back before training."

"Eva! I'm really really sorry." Even though Athena didn't mean it in a bad way, still doesn't mean it doesn't hurt any less.

I didn't bother turning around as I went towards the back yard sliding doors. I opened the door and heard foot steps following until they stopped.

"Eva wait!"

"Athena, stop. She just needs to run it off."

"I... I Swear I didn't mean to say it like that Alex."

I didn't hear the rest because I shifted and let my Rosie take over.

Rosie kept whimpering and it was bugging me. We're both hurt but I'm trying to forget about it but how can I do that if she doesn't stop?

"Rosie, enough. Please"

"Enough? Just because you don't care for them like I do doesn't mean you can control how I feel."

"I'm not trying to control your feelings. But I just want to run without hearing you whimper every 10 seconds. Can we just enjoy this?"

"I can't control how I feel Eva! If I whimper then it's because I'm hurt! We wouldn't be here if you weren't being so stupid!"

"Our mate flirted with someone else, ignored us, and just rejected us last night! If you want to cry, then cry! But on your own time. So when I say enough, I mean enough Rosie. If you can just wait till the day that Merida comes and does the spell, then we can cry together. But right now, shutup."

She didn't say or do anything after that.  She just kept running and I was finally enjoying it until Nate ruined it.

"Eva come back. It's time to train."

"Coming."

I stopped and listened to everything around me. I could hear birds, little creatures in the forest and a waterfall near by so I decided to go stop for a drink.

I sprinted towards the waterfall and it was beautiful. The water was crystal clear and and the grass and flowers that surrounded it made it 10x better. I sat on my hind legs and just stared at the waterfall.

I looked down and I saw my reflection. My white and turquoise wolf was so beautiful.

"Eva how far are you?"

Nate's voice echoed inside my head. Oh crap.

"Uhhhh like 45 minutes away?"

"Hurry up!"

"Geez what crawled up your butt and laid eggs."

"Alpha princess here just lost a bet by yours truly!" Alex said,

"Ohhhhh what'd you lose Nate?"

"Nothing!"

"When he meets his mate he has to tell her he sucks in bed!"

"Shut it Alex!"

"Really!? Out of everything, you bet that Nate!?"

"Just hurry up Eva"

"Fine. I'm coming."

I shut off the connection and started running home. Before I reached the the battle field that was close to the border I felt like someone was watching me.

I stopped, turned around and searched through the tress. I didn't see anything but I smelt someone. The smell seemed familiar but I couldn't place it. I barked out but no one barked back.

I could still feel them watching and it started to piss me off. If this is another attack then  they have another thing coming.

I growled but the only wolf who came out was Nate and Alex. They crossed the border and started growling.

"Eva, what is it?"

"I don't know. Someone's here I can smell them but I can't see them."

A wolf jumped out from the trees and started running away. I went to run after it but Nate stopped me.

"Eva don't! This is no mans land. That rogue has a right to be here. Everyone get back inside."

I turned back towards the direction the rogue went. Before it ran away I saw its eyes. It held fear, and sadness like it didn't mean any harm. But if it didn't then why run?

Nate shifted back but I had to look away. I don't need to be scarred with that image.

"Trouble just follows you, doesn't it Eva?" He rubbed his face with his hands and looked at me frustrated.

"I'm just a badass like that." I shrugged my wolf shoulders the best I could.

"Next time, take someone with you since you can't go anywhere alone."

"Whaaaaat!  That's not fair!"

"No but it's safe."

I growled at him which made him roll his eyes at me and pat my head.

"Down girl." I heard Alex and Danny cover their laughs with a cough so I barked at them, making them stop.

"Thank you all for coming. I know it's been a rough couple of days. But we are a strong pack. We fight, bleed, and sweat for this pack. We're all going to start training every week. Women and children are optional but not mandatory. You will be split into 4 groups. I will be in charge of watching over you all and critiquing what needs to be fixed. Your beta with work with you on stamina. Your third with work on strength and Eva with help with agility. Children will be with my father. He will teach them the basics of fighting. Please split into the 4 groups and get started."

"Why are we following her? I mean is she even mentally stable to give us tips on how to fight?"

We all turned to to see the girl who was flirting with Braxton at the ceremony. She looked bored and kinda whorish. She wore a sports bra and little booty shorts that had her butt hanging out.

"Jessica is it?" Nate asked. She looked scared but covered it up quickly.

"That's me" she flipped her blonde hair over her shoulder and winked at Nate. Nate didn't even bat an eye. Slut.

"Do you feel as if you could lead the group better than what Eva can?"

"Hell yea I can. I heard she couldn't even fight to keep her mate. What makes us think she could lead us?" Everyone was looking at her disapprovingly.

"Well, Eva. What do you say?" I just bowed my head towards Jessica and got into a fight position.

"Jessica, do you accept Eva's challenge?"

Jessica smirked at looked at me.

"Hell yea I do!" She shifted into her red wolf and she was bigger than I was but being small gives me an advantage. Nate, Alex, Danny, Destiny, Athena and my father stood next to each other and watched. They all looked pretty pissed by how Jessica acted but hey, I know I can beat her.

"This is a fair fight. No killing or severe injuries. It is only till your opponent taps out or you pin them. Understood?"

We both nodded and waited till Nate gave the go. By now everyone was watching.

"Begin!"

We circled each other waiting for the other to make a move. Her first mistake was coming at me first, by her movement I knew she was going to fake left and go right.

I waited till she was close enough and I jumped to her left making her fall face first into the grass. She shook it off and growled at me.

She lunged again but this time I was too slow. She knocked me down but I jumped up before she could pin me. I ran towards her but slid underneath her stomach making sure to claw at her. She whimpered but didn't back down.

She lunged again only for me to dodge out of her way. We did this for

About 10 minutes and I could tell she was getting restless. I smelled him before I saw him. Braxton walked into the fighting field with black shorts, and a white tank top.

We locked eyes but I looked away. I love Braxton but it hurt to know he didn't want me. Jessica used this distraction to her advantage and finally tackled me. She clawed at my shoulder but I kicked her off.

"Rosie?"

"Yes?"

"I need you. "

"Got it. Let me take control."

So I did just that. I let Rosie take control and she was pissed. She remembered Jessica from when she flirted with Braxton.

"Focus Evangeline."

I knew it was my father and I knew he was right. Braxton being here shouldn't bother me anymore.

"Rosie counter attack. When she lunges jump over her but not far enough to where we can't land on her back. Once we land on her back, claw at her shoulder. She'll whimper and we'll take that distraction and flip her around. She'll lye down on her back trying to buck us off but bite her shoulder and put pressure on her throat."

"Got it."

So we waited. We were circling each other but Jessica walked with a

Limp. I knew her energy was draining and it was draining fast.

"I don't know what's more pathetic. You fighting me to prove a point, or you trying to focus but can't because your rejecting mate is here."

I growled at that and she just made a chocking gurgling sound. I think she was trying to laugh.

"I think the only pathetic person here is you. Trying to take other people mates instead of finding your own. Or did he reject you because he knew you were the pack slut?"

This ticked her off because she lunged at me and Rosie put our plan in full motion. Just like I predicted she lunged, I jumped, clawed at her shoulder, she whimpered and I took full advantage. I pushed my paw on her throat and all she could do is laugh.

"You know? This position reminds me a lot of your mate. He always liked being on top. Must be an Alpha thing."

Rosie snarled and went to kill her. She took Jessica's throat in her mouth and bit down. I could taste her blood but Rosie didn't care. Jessica whimpered and turned her head as a sign of submission. But Rosie wouldn't let go.

"Eva enough!" Nate used his Alpha voice so I had no choice but to stop. Rosie wanted to kill her but she was loyal to Nate and his wolf. He was after all her alpha too.

"Time to come back in Rosie. Thank you."

"I would've killed her. But today is her lucky day."

I felt her return to her corner and I took control. I bowed my head at Nate and stepped back. But still keeping my eyes on Jessica. She laid there panting and bleeding.

"Someone take her to the pack Doctor. Eva, my office. Now!" Danny took off his shirt and threw it to me. I went behind a tree and changed back. I looked at my wounds to see them healing already.

"What the hell were you thinking?" Nate said as I walked towards them. But I ignored him and walked towards Braxton.

"Tell me it isn't true."

His face was blank as he stood there with crossed arms.

"What?"

"Did you have sex with her Braxton."

"Evangeline... "

"Answer me! Did you fuck her!" I was beyond pissed.

"Yes." I tried to hold back but I couldn't. I slapped him across the face.

"You bastard." I whispered.

I walked passed all of them but stopped at Nate.

"I'll be waiting in my room."
