Tempting - Chapter 19: Last Nerves
Tempting (Man x Man)
I finish up with most of the tasks given to me through my lunch period, the smell of meat
sandwiches and coffee making my stomach roll. The day seems to snail by without any
appearance of David, who's spent the majority of the afternoon in his office. I've almost walked
towards his door twice on my bathroom breaks.
It's getting increasingly difficult to just sit around expecting to be called. I fidget with the stapler
on my desk as I continue scanning over the papers I was sent. I click print when another knock
emits from my door, and like a alert puppy I instantly say 'come in!'.
I try not to show the frustration on my face as Ms. Collete walks in, her blonde hair still in a tight
small bun at the back of her head. She's now wearing a red suit jacket with a crimson brown
pencil skirt.
"Oh, um what can I do for y-"
"You are being called to Mr. Malone's office. He has asked me to alert you." Like a soldier, she
then turns a 180 before walking back out to the open space.
David, David is calling me! I dash from behind my desk through the doors of my office, the empty
stares that turn my way not straining my resolve one bit. I've been itching since the moment I
woke up to see David and now he's calling me to his office.
As I'm walking down the sleek halls towards his door, I see the man I had accidentally bumped
into before, his hair now parted on the side, and his clothes dark green and crisp. We make eye
contact for a moment before I look away.
I knock on his door before silently opening it, peeking my head through to reveal David sitting at
his desk. I smile timidly as I fully walk into the room.
"There you are." He says as he stands up from his desk and walks towards me. My heart skips a
few beats as he brushes his fingers on my chin, his beautiful eyes traveling my face until they
stop at my forehead.
He frowns.
"What happened to your forehead?"
"Huh?"
"Your forehead has a bruise on it." I rub on the spot and feel a slight throb there. Oh right, I hit
my forehead yesterday when I forgot David's number, but I can't tell him that.
"Oh! Right, I accidentally ran into a wall when I was going up to my apartment."
"Are you serious? Doesn't that shit only happen in movies?"
"No. I'm living proof that it doesn't." I banter, earning a slight smirk from him.
He snakes his arm around my waist and pulls me closer. My cheeks light up as he grabs
my chin and presses his soft lips on mine.
I want to stay like this forever, breathing in forest pine and wood, but he pulls away slightly.
"I want you right now." He sighs as he presses his front against mine, and I can't help but let
out a sharp breath as I feel something hard inside his dark suit pants.
"M-me too."
"Really? You want me to do you like how I did? You couldn't stop thinking about it all night, could you?" He smirks.
"Maybe..." He presses his leg between mine and I can feel myself getting excited. I want him too,
and I want him right now. In his office... I flush deeply and wrap my arms around his broad
shoulders, bringing him down into a deep kiss.
However, the sweetness is short-lived as a series of knocks emit on his door, causing David to
move away. He rolls his eyes and adjust his shirt, acting cool like we weren't just about to... do it
in his office.
I try to pull myself together too but I can still feel the flush on my face all the way down to my
hands.
And other places that I'd rather hide from my co-workers.
He motions me to go sit on the chair in front of his desk so it'd look like we were having a
meeting.
"Who is it?"
"Mr. Malone, there's a man that says he's here for meeting? I wanted to make sure if you'd like to let him through first." Ms. Collete says through the door. David sighs as he twists the doorknob
and cracks open the door slightly.
"Did you get his name?"
"He comes from our neighboring company." Her eyes land on mine and pierces through me like daggers. She returns her attention back to David thankfully.
"He says his name is Mr. Hamsure."
"Ugh, tell him that I'm busy for the next few weeks. I'm not looking to have a meeting right now."
"Yes sir. I will be right on it now."
"Good."
He closes the door shut. I place my hands securely on my lap while he continues to face the door. He stretches his arms above his head as he turns around, a irritated expression on his face.
"Are you alright?" I try.
"Fine. That man is just getting on my last nerve." He brushes a hand over his face.
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that."
"Don't be. It has nothing to do with you. Let's talk about something that doesn't have to do with work."
He saunters over to me and raises me out of my chair, setting me on his desk as I giggle. I love
how strong he is. He makes me feel small, but in a good way.
"Like... how were your parents like? "
"My-" I'm not going to lie and say I didn't feel a little thrown in for a loop from his question,
especially since we were just talking in a seductive manner.
"Parents?"
"Yes, your parents. You keep repeating words I say as if you're a recorder." he jokes.
"Hey, I'm just trying to understand the question. You do that too sometimes."
"When do I do that?"
"A couple of times!"
"I want proof."
I pout as he chuckles into my neck, his smooth scent filling my senses before he leans back.
"Okay, but seriously. How were they like?"
"They were... they were okay in my opinion."
"Okay, like how? Describe them to me."
I reach in my past for images of my parents, and the only feelings that pop up around them are
bitter/sweet pain. I hardly bring up my parents ever, partly to protect myself from my emotions.
I try not to give it away through my expression as I swallow.
"My dad was a officer while my Mom worked in retail. My Dad wasn't... really there up until a certain point, but it wasn't that big of a deal. We still could operate as family. And my Mom fed me and raised me so-" Dang, this sounds depressing. I bite my bottom lip as I can feel David's
questioning piercing eyes.
"What about you?" I divert.
"Well my parents were the starter of this company. My Dad is currently in Germany living his best life, but I can say that we... operated as family. While growing up, I remember the days when we didn't have much and my mother kind of left. And please don't pity me, that's the last thing I want."
I nod.
"So my father worked hard to support us. He didn't believe in love after mom left. Said it softened men." He spits as he rolls his eyes.
"So that was the type of environment I grew up in. All work, no play."
"That must of been hard for you."
"Hey, watch it. No pitying."
"I'm not pitying you. I'm just commenting on how it would've been hard for anyone to grow up in that type of situation."
"Calvin." He warns.
My mouth forms a tight line as I frown. He keeps his fiery eyes solidly on mine before he lets out a breath.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to snap at you. Let's talk about something else."
"... Alright."
