Tempting - Chapter 29: Exposed

Tempting (Man x Man)

"Yeah. Its fine. I hadn't even noticed it to be honest. How about you, are you okay?"

"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" He leans against the wall next to him, folding his arms over his

stomach.

"Oh I don't know I just-"

"Are you saying there's something wrong with me?"

"What? No, no what? I was just asking-"

"Because if you are I find that really offensive."

"I did-didn't mean to-" I sputter. He quickly smirks and chuckles, rolling his eyes.

"I'm just messing with you."

"Oh." I can't seem to look away from his bright eyes. I smile a little.

"Well it wasn't that funny."

"You're not that funny."

"How would you know?" I challenge.

"I can just tell."

"Yeah yeah, sure." I roll my eyes.

"Isn't there a job you're supposed to be doing? Cause last time I checked it started like 2 hours ago?" He asks.

"You're the one who stopped me!"

"Oh right, I did, didn't I? Maybe because I wanted to see you again." I bite my lip nervously as I

look at the ground. I shouldn't be getting flustered like this. He... Mr. Malone and him are against

each other, I can't just be participating in... whatever his game is.

"That's... good." Suddenly my stomach rumbles as a sharp pain shoots through it. Its been a

week since I've eaten a proper meal, the only source of my nutrients coming from a few fruits

and vegetables.

"Someone's hungry. Did you not eat breakfast before coming here?"

"I forgot. I had to rush here." I admit.

"No need to say anymore. For when you go on break, there's a new coffee shop that opened around the corner. We could-"

"Could do what with who?" My heart spikes as David walks up from behind Mr. Hamsure, a look

of icy wrath clouding his features.

"Oh Mr. Malone. Sorry, I didn't see you there." Mr. Hamure smirks as David scowls. He completely

ignores him and turns his attention to me instead.

"Calvin, in my office. Now." With that he turns and leaves, leaving me with my heart racing. What

was I thinking? I pinch the skin between my fingers as I walk forward, but not before Mr.

Hamsure grabs on to my arm, pulling me closer.

"I'm always here if you want to chat sometimes." He soothes, and despite what had just

happened, I blush deeply. I nod my head.

------------------------------------------------------------

Once I arrive in the office, the heat that had been in the air before has still not dispersed. Ms.

Collete stands next to David's desk with a discontent look on her face. She's wearing a blue skirt

with a white collared top. Just seeing her makes something in me stir. David's leaning against

the wooden top of his table, his arms folded over his stomach.

"Mr. Stewert." Oh no, he said my last name.

"I think you know why you're in here."

"Y-yeah. I-"

"You had arrived late without any confirmation of where you were currently at." Ms. Collete

interjects. David doesn't even send a look her way.

"That's correct. Not only is that disrespectful to the company, but also to your colleagues, who had to find someone else to do your job in your absence."

"I know, it was dumb of me. I didn't think-" I feel my breathes get short as he stares me down with those fiery eyes.

"Actions come with consequences, and you have made way too many. Ms. Collete, can you leave the room for a moment."

"Yes Mr. Malone." She says with malice in her voice as her high blue heels clack on the way to the

door. I'm done for. I'm totally done for. There's no way I'm coming back from this. If doesn't fire

me, he'll hate me forever.

After we're alone in the spaciousness of his office, he just stares at me with his bright amber

eyes, trailing my face all the way to my feet. I can only stare at his chest, feeling too ashamed to

even glance at his eyes.

"I'm sorry." I mutter.

"We need to talk Calvin."

"I know. I didn't mean to come late I-"

"Not about that. Come here." He walks over to the leather couch and memories of the massage

he gave me here surfaces in my mind. I don't move at first, but then I reluctantly walk over to

him, sitting next to him. He continues to stare at the ground.

"I want to know what happened."

"What do mean-"

"On Saturday. Why you went out drinking. Why you were upset with me on Sunday. Tell me." He

looks up and we meet eyes. Now its my turn to look at the auburn floor.

"I don't know what-"

"Yes you do. It was apparent with that phone call."

"David, I just wanted to go out. It wasn't that big of a deal."

"It is a big deal when you're mentally ill." My eyes widen at what he just said. It was almost like my soul came crashing from my body.

"What? Why would you say that?"

"Calvin I don't want to make you feel attacked, but I've witnessed the type of problems you have. I don't think drinking is a safe way to handle them."

"You can't... There's nothing wrong with me."

"I never said there was anything wrong with you. You have a beautiful personality." He says. He grabs my shaking hands as my eyes start to water.

"And I want to tell you that I'm here. I probably wasn't the best man in my past, but I strive to be it."

My thoughts ricochet around my skull as I try to pull words together in a sentence. Now that he knows about my problems, will he leave me? Will he stop talking to me?

"I don't want to weird you out." I finally say, my voice cracking.

"You're not doing that Cal-" I follow his eyes drift from my arm to my wrist and I involuntarily pull my sleeve down.

"What happened to your wrist?"

"Uh, that... that was from..." Think think Calvin.

"I a-accidentally hit my wrist on the door."

"On the door?"

"Yeah I was walking too fast and I bumped my hand on it."

"If it was the door then how do you have a bruise all around your wrist?"

I swallow as I try not to fidget in my seat.

"I don't know it kind of h-happened like that."

This is the end of chapter 29! We're about to hit the 30th chapter mark *fireworks*! Calvin should just stop lying if his boo can easily see through it smh. See what happens to Calvin next chapter. Vote if you feel like it ;)
