Chapter 87
When the Boss’ Lady Became His Sister-in-law
Chapter 87
Kristin stared at Vincent with terror in her eyes, her voice shaking. âNo⦠Donât hurt my brother.â âKristin, Iâve told you. If you donât behave, Iâll make someone close to you pay the price,â Vincent said, trapping her in his embrace and forcefully gripping her chin. âThis time, watch closely.â
âVincent⦠you bastardâ¦â Kristinâs trembling voice broke through. âYou canât hurt my brother. Rhett⦠Rhett said heâd look out for me.â
Her voice quivered, hoping that mentioning Rhett would make Vincent think twice, but it only pissed him off more.
âYouâre a slut,â Vincent dragged Kristin into a nearby cabin. âYouâve slept with my brother, havenât you?â
Kristin bit her lip, glaring at Vincent with hatred. âYou have no right to ask me that.â
âI have no right, huh? Kristin, how low can you stoop?â Vincent sneered mockingly, tearing open her clothes. âI regret that I never touched you before.â
Her whole body shivered, burning wherever Vincent touched her.
âArenât you disgusted?â Kristin cried out, challenging him.
âYeah, youâre dirty.â Vincent retaliated, biting Kristinâs neck. âBut if Rhett doesnât care, why should 12â
Rhett thought he could humiliate him through Kristin. Dream on.
âVincent, You wonât let me go unless Iâm dead, right?â Kristin sank to her knees, her fingers trembling as she clutched at Vincentâs clothes. âSpare my brother, please.â
âIâll never forgive Garner for the harm heâs caused Ruby. Even if he were to endure a thousand deaths or lose both of his hands, it wouldnât begin to extinguish my deepâseated hatred for him!â Vincent forced Kristin to look outside. âGo on. Cut off his hands.â
The bodyguard pulled out a knife. âSorry about this.â
âNo!â Kristin screamed, struggling and rushing to push away the man about to act.
âVincent! The one who wronged you is me. I owe youâ¦â Kristin picked up the knife from the ground and slashed her wrist without any hesitation. âNot enough, right?â
She kept cutting her wrist, blood gushing out in alarming streams.
âBastard, Iâll kill you!â Garner yelled hysterically, fighting off his restraints and beating his captors senselessly.
As Kristinâs face turned ghostly pale, she stumbled backward, continuously cutting her wrist deeper.
Chapter 87
Vincent stood rigid, watching Kristinâs madness, his chest aching as if it were splitting open.
What exactly did he want Kristin to do?
âBoss, that, that womanâs gone mad. She will die, wonât she?â The bodyguard was terrified, his voice shaking.
They didnât want to be responsible for a death.
Fueled by rage, Garner fought off everyone, knocking out his captors before staggering to his feet and rushing over to Kristin, forcefully taking the knife from her grasp.
âGive me the knife.â Garnerâs eyes were bloodshot, his hand trembling as he held the blade.
Kristin looked at Garner with empty eyes, and seeing his blood dripping down the blade, she let go in shock.
As her vision darkened, Kristin collapsed into Garnerâs arms. âGarner, Iâm so tired.â
Garnerâs throat burned. He swallowed hard but couldnât find any words of comfort.
Apart from killing these people, he didnât know how else to protect Kristin and Summer.
âTake her to the hospital. Garner fought to steady his shaking voice, wrapping Kristinâs wrist with his shirt. âIâll take you to the hospital, Kris.â
âSummerâ¦â Kristin looked toward the door, hearing Summerâs desperate cries, and slowly raised her hand. âGarner, take care of Summer.â
She was so tired, exhausted.
Let her be free.
If she died, these people would have no reason to continue tormenting them.
*Stop playing dead.â Vincentâs voice was trembling, yet he spoke coldly. âTake her to the hospital.â
âGet lost!â Garner glared at Vincent with redârimmed eyes. He was afraid he couldnât control himself from killing Vincent.
Vincent clenched his fists. âDamn it. Iâll take her to the hospital!â
âGet the hell out!â Garner picked up Kristin, intent on heading to the hospital.
After hearing that Vincent had returned, Rhett hurriedly drove over, only to find Garner holding a bloodâsoaked Kristin.
James had also arrived because he was worried, having asked Bill to find out where Garner lived and wanted to check in.
âTo the hospital⦠Iâll take her to the hospital,â Rhett insisted on taking Kristin..
Seeing Kristin covered in blood again, Rhett felt his emotions spiraling out of control.
Chapter 87
He was always a man unaffected by emotion, but at that moment, he wanted to kill Vincent.
âYou neednât worry.â James also approached in panic, trying to take Kristin.
Garner avoided James, handing Kristin to Rhett. âMr. FitzGerald⦠please.â
Kristin had said Rhett was different from the others.
James didnât deserve her. In Garnerâs eyes, if James were the person who had forced Kristin six years ago, he would never be worthy.
Rhett held Kristin and got into the car, his gaze deep as he looked at Vincent.
Vincentâs knuckles turned white with tension, furious that he could only watch Rhett take Kristin away!
Because he dared not defy Rhett.
Irked, James adjusted his tie and turned back to Vincent. âAre you freaking asking to die?â
James kicked Vincent, losing control and punching him in the face over and over.
Vincent watched James with a cold laugh. âMr. Bryce, youâre not falling for a tramp, are you? What I did to her was none of your business, right? Your fiancée is still in jail, after all.â
Jamesâ fist froze midâair, and the darkness in his eyes grew even more intense. âVincent, you got a death wish or something?â
After saying that, James threw another punch.
Vincentâs bodyguard tried to step in, but Bill blocked him with an outstretched hand. âYou guys better weigh your options if Mr. Bryce gets a scratch.â
Garner didnât give a shit about the rich folksâ squabble. Clutching his hand in his clothes, he stumbled over to the door, let Summer out, and hugged him. âNo more tears, Summer. Itâs okay now.â
Summer had cried herself hoarse, screaming for her mom.
Hearing Summerâs cries, James held back and kicked Vincent in the stomach before heading to Summer.
After all, Vincent was from the FitzGerald family, so James didnât go all the way. He just knocked the guy out.
The bodyguards whisked Vincent away, leaving only James, Bill, Garner, and Summer in the yard.
âSummer⦠Jamesâ voice was strained, raspâlike, as he wiped the blood from his face and crouched down before him. âIâm sorry, sweetheart⦠Daddyâs late.â
Exhausted from crying, Summer clung to Garner. âYouâre always late. I donât like youâ¦.
James raised his hand to his forehead and took a deep breath. âIâm sorry. How about we go to

the hospital and see Mommy, okay?â
Summer glanced at Garner, wanting to see his mom.
Garner turned to James with a low voice. âYou donât deserve it.â
In Garnerâs mind, James didnât deserve to be Summerâs father.
But Garner didnât stop Summer from going with him.
Bill stood there, biting his tongue.
That was Jamesâ choice, insisting on using Summer to tie Kristin down. So, it was only fair that he dealt with everyoneâs misjudgments.
