Chapter 97
When the Boss’ Lady Became His Sister-in-law
Chapter 97
Summer just got out of school all happy and bubbly, with a little backpack bouncing along as he dashed out of the gate.
That backpack was a gift from York, who said it was from Rhett. Summer treasured it big time.
As he waited in the pickup zone, Summer scanned the area, but there was no sight of Garner.
âIs Uncle Garner running late from work today?â Summer wondered.
âLittle bastard.â Milo walked past Summer and shoved him deliberately.
Summer lost his balance and tumbled, and the backpack got scuffed up in the dirt.
Eyes brimming with tears, Summer glared at Milo and tackled him to the ground, fists raised like hammers, warning. âMilo, youâre asking for a beatdown, so back off!â
Milo got the scare of his life and burst into tears.
The teacher rushed over to break it up. And after seeing the Gladstone family heir down on the ground, she pushed Summer away in a frenzy. âFighting again, huh?â
Summer was on the verge of tears. âHe pushed me first!â
The teacher was playing favorites. âSummer, this is low. No class, no home training. Why do you always hit people at school?â
âYeah, no manners at all.â Others interrupted, dissing Summer.
âMom!â Milo spotted a luxury car by the road and started bawling for his mom.
Eve came to pick up her son, and seeing him in tears, she strode over quickly, demanding from the teacher, âWhat happened?â
âItâs Summer⦠He fought again. Kids from the slums have no manners,â the teacher said with a troubled look, pinning the blame on Summer.
Summer clenched their backpack and kept his head down, silent.
That lady was trouble. He didnât want to bring any grief to his mom and uncle.
âYou again, little bastard. Youâre just a noâgood brat without a dad. How dare you hit my son! Who do you think you are?â Eve was already fuming over her brother Vincent and her momâs affair, climbing the social ladder, which made her lose face in their social circle.
She grabbed Summerâs collar and was about to slap him. âToday, Iâll teach you a lesson on behalf of your lowlife mom.â
âAh!â Before Eveâs hand could land, someone kicked her from behind.
Eve almost lost her balance and turned around in shock.
The nearby teachers and parents were also stunned. Who the heck had kicked the heiress of

The RitzGerald family?
Weissa? Are you out of your mind? Eve screamed once she saw who it was.
Looking discusted Melissa shrugged and glanced down at her canvas shoes. âGosh. I shouldâve wom stilettos today. Wouldâve kicked you to oblivion.â
groting Eveâs shock Melissa reached out to Summer. âHey, handsome, Iâm here to pick you
Summerâs eyes went wide with tears, and he ran to Melissa. âMs. Hottie.â
You Whatâs your deal with him?â Eve was shocked. What was the relationship between Melissa and Summer?
Havenât you heard it? Rich girls should start raising a boyfriend from kindergarten. Iâll look aber him for eighteen years, then heâll be my beau Melissa bragged, pointing at Milo. âTell your little pussy to stay away from our Summer. If she gets handsy again, Iâll break her neck!â
Meissa raised her hand to scare Millo. Terrified Wilo hid behind Eve.
Mic was a cute little thing, all pretty and chubby, except that he was spoiled.
Melissa calling him a âTittle pussyâ was a blatant insult.
âWeissa. Donât you go too far.â Eve clenched her fists. She could handle the Lawrence family. bur Melissa was a loose cannon, and her exâs family were all lunatics, rumored to kill without binding and Eve didnât want to mess with them for the time.
Too far?â Weissa laughed and ruffled Summerâs hair. âNext time he bullies you, beat him to a pub. If he ends up crippled. Iâll cover the costs.â
Eve and a few teachers were utterly shocked. Who dared to talk Eke that?
The vibe was intense.
Summer hugged Melissa and glanced at Milo.
Mic, behind Eve was petrified by Melissa
Theâs a little bastard. His momâs a con artist a criminal. Heâs just like her, a little thief!â deaned his tears, feeling bold with his mom there.
âMy momâs no con artist! Youâre the con artist. Summer shot back, fuming.
âKids donât talk like that. You taught him that didnât you?â Melissa stared at Eve.
Eve furrowed her brows and stayed silent.
âUite pussy, didnât you hear about your grandma becoming the other woman? Your momâs a bastard kid, isnât she? Know what they call that? Shamelessly clinging to a married man! Does your mom take after your grandma or what?â Melissa didnât care about her highâsociety lady image. Her voice boomed.
Chapter 97
The other parents were shocked, watching the showdown between Melissa and Eve.
But Eveâs mom being the âother womanâ was common knowledge in Silvergrove City. It was just that nobody dared to mention it because of the FitzGerald familyâs reputation.
Eveâs face turned black with rage, her fingers trembling. âMelissa! Shut your mouth.â
âScared of the truth? Mess with our Summer again, and Iâll call a press conference. Just try me,â Melissa said, picking up Summer and walking away without giving Eve a second glance.
Eve, a grown woman, was trying to hit a child? No way!
Sheâd never have known how shameless this woman could be if she hadnât intentionally sent Garner away and decided to pick up Summer.
âMelissa!â Eve was livid, trying to go after her, but the driver held her back. âMy lady, letâs get out of here.â
Too many people were around, all with phones out, ready to film. It could go viral in minutes.
Melissa publicly called the FitzGerald familyâs heiress, Eve, a mistressâ daughter, which had shot up the trending searches!
For Nicola, that was a lethal blow.
The elites looked down on Nicola and Eve, and this was like rubbing Holcombâs face in the dirt
In the car, Summer was clutching his little backpack like it was his treasure, wiping it over.
âYou like that backpack, huh?â Melissa asked.
Summer nodded sweetly. âItâs from a gift from Daddyâ¦â
There was a brief moment of sadness before Summer spoke again. âHe gave it to me.â
Melissa leaned in to cheer Summer up. âHey there, cutie pie, how about a kiss?â
Summer hesitated, then planted a smooch on Melissaâs cheek, holding her face. âIâll take responsibility.â
Melissa burst into laughter, laughing to tears. âYouâve got way more game than your uncle.â
Summer looked confused. âMommy says a boy canât kiss girls for no reason. If he kisses, he must take responsibility. He can only kiss when heâs grown up, and kissing means getting married.â
Melissa couldnât help but chuckle. What an adorable little one. âThen your mom must be a real sweetheart.â she praised.
How could the sister of Garner, that big lug, be anything like the rumors say?
Having been in this circle for so long, she knew she couldnât believe the gossip in wealthy families, not a single word of it.

âMy mommy is the best mommy.â Summer said happily, his eyes twinkling like stars.
Melissa ruffled Summerâs hair. âIf anyone ever bullies you, you hit them right back. We donât start trouble, but we donât take any crap, either. Iâve got your back.â
Summer looked at Melissa for a long while, then gave her cheek another big kiss.
Melissa froze. Oh no, she just got charmed by a fiveâyearâold! What was she going to do?
