She called out to Garner, feigning timidity, âWho are you? When have I ever been with you?â
Her acting was spotâon.
From the sidelines, Garner was baffled. What was this play?
The man glanced at Melissa, still not catching on, âKristin, youâre turning on me now? You werenât so cold when you were begging to sleep with me.â
Melissaâs eyes welled up, âI donât even know you.â
âDonât know me? Summer is my son.â The man lunged to grab Melissaâs wrist.

Garner, quick as lightning, grasped the manâs hand and applied a subtle force.
âKristin, tell Garner to let me go.â The man grimaced in pain.
Melissa sneered and delivered á swift kick between the manâs legs.
He grunted, collapsing to the ground in agony, âKristin, you bitch.â
Take a good look at who I am,â Melissa retorted, delivering another kick, âWhich pound did you escape from, you mad dog?â
The manâs shock turned to realization. This woman wasnât Kristin. So he shouted, âYouâre not Kristin. Where

âOh, I begged you, and now you dorft recognize me?â Melissa stepped on the manâs head, pointing at the onlookers with their phones out, âScram, all of you
The bystanders were intimidated by Melissaâs command, but it was clear she wasnât Kristin.
Hidden in the crowd, Kristin cowered behind Rhett, her heart pounding with adrenaline. Melissa was such a
force to be reckoned with.
She was totally in awe.
âWho are you? After all these years, how could I recognize you? Whereâs Kristin? The man was still howling.
With Gamer there, no mischief could be done.
Melissa smirked, âYour mother must be quite the comedian, giving birth to a joke like you. Who sent you to make a scene? Confess, and I might leave you in one piece.*
The man, now petrified by Melissa, tried to resist but was pinned to the ground by Garner.
âI want to see Kristin. I have to see Kristin.â He continued to wail.
Melissa signaled to the security to gag him, âTake him away.â
The man began to fear as he was muffled.
âItâs getting cold. Bury him deep, and donât let him catch a chill,â Melissa said sternly, glancing at the time, âYou have twentyâfour hours to find out which mad dog sent him.â
The security nodded, dragging the man away.
âPeace at last,â Melissa said as if cleaning her ears.
âMelissa, you canât justâ¦â Garner started his face a mix of awe and concern for the trouble she might attract. âWhat did I do? Did anyone have a problem?â Melissa turned to the onlookers, âAn aggressive psychiatric patient, I had him sent to the mental hospital. Iâm contributing to public welfare. Did you see it? That man was seriously ill, spouting nonsense.â
The spectators were too frightened to speak.
âAlright, mothers are here to pick up their kids. Letâs go,â Melissa said, grabbing Garner by the collar and dragging him to the car.
Garner frowned, helplessly glancing back at Kristin.

Kristin waved him off, assuring him that she had Summerâs situation under control.
Garner shot Kristin an exasperated look, but before he could protest, Melissa had already hauled him into the car.
âMelissa, Iâm off the clock,â Garner said resignedly to his âabductor.
âOvertime, Melissa declared, leaving no room for argument.
The car stopped beside Rhett, and Melissa returned Kristinâs coat, âMr. FitzGerald, got all that?â
Rhett took the coat, his expression darkening.

It was clear Kristin had crossed someone, and they were using this method to target her. But making a scene at a preschool entrance served no purpose.
The only possibility was that the commotion was meant to reach the ears of the Bryce family.

Ar Fitzbetald, you owe me one for this Melissa reminded Rhett with a nudge.
She was the kind who never catre but on the losing end and fully intended for Rhett to repay the favor.
Had she not slapped in today, Rhett would have taken matters into his own hands.
With so many eyes watching, Rhett throwing punches in the middle of the street, regardless of the reason, would termish his reputation.
âYes? Rhett nodded, acknowledging the debt.
Melissaâs lips curled up in satisfaction at Rhettâs grunt of agreement.
Rolling up the car window, Melissa threw herself into Garnerâs arms, âI was so scared just now.â
Garner massaged his temples, feeling a headache coming on.
âDo you have any guesses?â Rhett asked Kristin.
Kristin shook her head, not because she couldnât guess, but because she was afraid to say.
Rhettâs expression turned grave as he sensed an ominous feeling.
Once Carter found out Summer wasrit a true Bryce, he would definitely make a move. Carterâs connections would spell trouble for Kristin if he decided to take action.
The phone rang, and it was York with an update.
âMr. FitzGerald, thereâs someone downstairs at the office asking to see Kristin and claim heâs her old college buddy and that he and Kristin used to be an item. He says Summerâs his son, some guy named Kenney.â Rhett clenched his fist, his anger palpable.
They were all coming out of the woodwork now.
Those plotting against Kristin would soon see what the Bryce family was capable of.
hey Rhettâs voice was a low rumble.
econd son of Blue Sea Business Travel, Kenney, York provided the background information
Hasnât Blue Sea been having some cash flow issues lately?â Rhett let out a scoff.
Did they take him for a fool?
s, their financial chain brake. Several branches across the nation have shut down, and theyâre facing
lawsuits
York was getting irritated, âI donât know how many people Kristin has ticked off. Iâll see him off.â
Over the phone, there was clamor, and this Kenney fellow was demanding to see Kristin and Rhett.
Mr. FitzGerald, he insists on seeing you. He wonât leave unless he does,â York whispered.
âTo see me?â Rhettâs voice deepened, âHeâs not worthy,â
âShould Kristin meet him then? If Summerâs real dad is indeed Kenney, she should get rid of him fast.â York thought Kristin must be stupid to get involved with Kenney, especially after James,
Kenney was notorious in the jetâset circles for his playboy ways, bullying Kristin with his cronies, and now she had a thing with him.
âHas your brain been eaten by dogs?â Rhett glanced at the time.
âWant to see Kristin? He wishes.â
âNo, itâs not thatâ¦â York finally caught on, âMr. FitzGerald, I didnât mean it like that. Itâs just that Kristin seems like a magnet for trouble. Iâll take her to the temple this weekend, get a talisman from a monk or something to attract some good fortune.â
âIsnât Tam classmates with Kenney?â Rhett suddenly remembered his annoying cousin.
âYes, heâs been after Kristin for years,â York blurted out thoughtlessly.
Rhettâs face darkened further.
âStir the pot, and let Tam handle it,â Rhett hung up.
If York couldnât handle this, he might as well take a break.
In the car, Kristin anxiously watched Rhett on the phone by the roadside, sensing his mood was off.
Had something happened?
âMr. FitzGerald, is there a problem?â Kristin nervously asked.
âNothing. Just company stuff. York is just being an idiot,â Rhett leaned against the car door, laughing as he ruffled Kristinâs hair.
His demeanor changed in a heartbeat, showering all his affection and kindness onto her.
Kristin breathed a sigh of relief, âMr. FitzGerald, Neal has called me a dozen times in this short period. I think heâs starting to panic.â
Just block him, and donât bother with it. Youâve done your part, and now itâs up to me,â Rhett didnât tell Kristin about Kenney causing a scene at the office. She didnât need to know.
Heâd handle this trash himself.
11:37
At the office.
âMr. Kenney, donât you feel ashamed causing a scene here? York frowned.
I told you I want to see Rhett or Kristin. Whatâs with this treatment? Am I not good enough?â Kenney huffed, sitting down like he owned the place.
The receptionist offered him coffee, which he ignored.
âHereâs the situation, you know Tam, right? I hear you were classmates. He just called saying youâre a deadbent, claiming you had nothing to do with Kristin, that youâre a liar,â York said with a sly smile.
âWho?â Kenney looked at York with rage, âTam?â
York nodded, smiling.
âTam? What is he, a joke? Just because he couldnât get Kristin, he calls me lowlifes? Back in the day, when he had his eyes on Kristin, he was worse than a lowlife. Just a lapdog, always panting after her. And what did he get? Kristin wouldnât give him the time of day, and she ended up with me,â Kenney boasted with a
sneer.
Kenney sneered, sarcastically saying that Tam was Kristinâs lapdog before.
When she was in school, Kristin was the goddess of the school, and countless boys pursued Kristin and had crushes on Kristin.
Tam was the most blatant one in Kristinâs pursuit. Vincent was the only one who got Kristin. Caleb grew up as a wimp and only dared to have crushes and express his likes secretly.
âTam turned out to be a lapdog,â York asked with a grin.
