Chapter 127
Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 0254
Once he leaves, the rest go back to Avaâs room while I stay back for a little bit. I just needed time to
breathe. Everything was happening so fast and so differently. I was having a hard time catching up.
I get back to her room after Iâm sure that Iâm more in control. I find Letty, Corrine, and Calvin introducing
themselves.
âYouâre nerdy Cal,â Ava says with a smile. He gives her a glare, but there isnât any heat behind it. âItâs
such
a small world that our sons are now best friends.â
âit is,â he simply says.
No one mentions that Gunner is also Emmaâs son.
âSo, mom, when are you going to see Iris?â Noah asks after the introductions are over.
âCan they bring her to me? Iâm eager to see her.â her smile is radiant and beautiful. Something that I
havenât seen in a long time. âI still canât believe we have a daughterâ
Damn it. How am I supposed to break this to her?
Seeing my dilemma, Nora picks up the phone from the side table and calls the nurse station. Requesting
for Nora to be brought.
It doesnât take long before Mary arrives with the precious bundle.
âItâs good to see you up Ava, thereâs someone who has waited long enough to see her motherâ she
smiles at her and places Iris in Avaâs arms.
She then leaves, and promises to come back later to pick her up.
âOh dear Lordâ Ava breathes. âSheâs so beautifulâ
âShe looks just like you, momâ Noah, adds.
Iris didnât fuss or anything like that. Probably because she was asleep. We all watch in awe as Ava falls
in love with Iris. A daughter she doesnât remember conceiving.
When Noah complains of hunger, Corrine and Letty offer to take him to buy something to eat while
buying for the rest of us. Cal excuses himself. He had to go pick up Gunner from school.
Where is the rest of the family? Do they really donât care about me?â
hed completely forgotten about them. They thought that Ava wouldnât them here now that she was
Theyâll be here soon enough, but there is something you have to be prepared forâ I tell her.
There were things that were just too big and too fucking important to hide. I was about to tell her about
James being dead when a gasp leaves her mouth.
I turn her worriedly only to find her staring at Iris with shock and confusion.
What is it, Avaâ
âWhy are her eyes blue? No one in your family has blue eyes and if what youâre telling me itâs true and
mother and father are not my parents, then she shouldnât have blue eyes
This is the other thing I wasnât willing to lie to Ava about. Irisâs real father. My eyes slide to her parents,
but they also looked panicked. Looks like they wonât be of any help.
âShe got them from her dadâ I take a deep breath.
âYouâre her dadâ
âNo, Iâm notâ
âOh my God. Did I cheat you? Is that what happened?â she asks in panic while frantically trying to soothe
Iris who was now screaming her little lungs out.
I donât know if itâs because Avaâs panic spooked her, or because Ava was basically a stranger to her.
Taking Iris from her arms, I hold her close to me before kissing her cheek. She immediately settles down
and goes back to sleep.
âItâs a long story and Iâll tell you one of these days, but you didnât cheat on meâ
You betterâ
Maybe by the time she demands answers, I will have come up with a reasonable explanation for her, as
to why Iris had a different father without making her think that she cheated.
âSo when am I going homeâ sheâs a bit more calm as she asks.
Tomorrow
Sereat, I canât wait to be back home.â
stare at her as a small smile forms on my lips. I know I wasnât willing to lie to her when the doctor
ested we hide the truth, but maybe this is my second chance with her. This is my chance to bring her
love for me because I canât fucking live with
