Dahlia's POV

************

"Alright, now this is fucking ridiculous."

I frowned and whined as I felt Billie's lips leaving my own, and tried to follow them, but there was a weight on my head which was preventing me from doing so. I opened my eyes and looked up, noticing that Cadence had a hand on each of our foreheads, keeping us apart.

"I'm so happy you two are back together, I really am, but I have never been so damn disgusted in my whole entire life. I do not wanna see my friends swapping spit, I really don't. Not in my wholesome household." She ranted.

Before she'd yanked us apart, I'd been sitting on the couch with Billie straddling me, my hands resting comfortably on her thighs as we kissed. After Cadence yanked us apart, Billie was halfway across the floor, a dumb look on her face as she tried to figure out what the hell had happened.

"We're supposed to be having a meeting." Cadence reminded us. "Now, if I don't get to join in on the little make-out session, I don't wanna see it." She rolled her eyes.

"Whoa—Slow down!" Billie shouted as she got up off the floor. "I don't remember saying you couldn't join." She smirked.

"Get your girl, she playing. " Cadence warned me.

We both held our hands up in defense and Billie trudged over to the couch and took a seat in my lap, and this time we refrained from making out. "Alright, damn. Where were we?"

"Spring break!" Cadence shouted as she stared at us as if we were stupid. "It's literally starting next week and we need to figure out what we're gonna do. Now."

"I don't get why you're freaking out about this," Billie mumbled. Cadence scoffed and held a hand up, turning to look to the side rather than at Billie. "Dahlia, I can't even look at her right now, let alone talk to her. Explain."

"Cadence always likes to plan something special for spring break. She thinks spring break sets the tone for how the actual summer break will be, so she always tries to make it really good." I explained.

"And this year we have a shit ton more friends to include in whatever our spring break plans are, which is great and all, but more people means more stress!" Cadence jumped in. She began pacing in front of us as she ranted.

"We have one week to plan something, get all the parents to agree to let us do whatever we plan, figure out how to pay for whatever we plan, pack for whatever we plan, figure out transportation—There's a lot to figure out and we should've started trying to get all this done weeks ago, but there was a lot going on."

"I don't think you should be stressing so much about this, C. I'm sure all our friends would enjoy whatever it is that we end up doing as long as we all get to do it together." Billie smiled.

I snickered as Cadence let out a loud, fake laugh and bent down to stare at Billie. "Oh, isn't she just adorable." She squeezed Billie's cheek and shook her face from side to side before rolling her eyes.

"Okay, well, how's the boat idea coming along?" I asked. Cadence huffed as she plopped down in the chair across from us. "Bea, Hudson, Heidi, and Jessica all get seasick. We can still get on a boat, but we can't do a cruise and we can't do anything that requires a boat ride."

I hummed as I thought for a moment, my hand sliding up and down Billie's arm as I did. Eventually, my fingers traveled away from her arm and toward her shirt, bunching it up and sliding under it. I felt the lace of her underwear underneath my fingertips and smirked up at her.

"Stop it," Cadence warned us before we could even get started. I sighed and moved my hand away. "As long as we get to swim, I think we'll be fine." That's all I could come up with.

"Can't we go to your Nana's beach house?" Cadence whined.

"Your Nana has a beach house?" Billie raised a brow. I hummed. "Mhm. She bought it years and years ago with the money she got from her first divorce. I can ask her if she'd be willing to let us stay there for the week, but Nana doesn't do anything for anyone for free. We'd still have to pay."

"Call and ask if we can stay there!" Cadence jumped up quickly and slid down beside my legs, giving me the puppy dog eyes.

I sighed as I pulled my cell phone out of the pocket of my sweats and found her contact. It's Monday evening, and I'm hoping she isn't busy right now.

I didn't think she'd pick up as the phone rang for a while, but she finally did just when I was about to hang up. I put it on speaker.

"Who the hell is this?!" Her usual greeting.

"Hey, Nana, it's Dahlia." I grinned.

"Oh, my sweet angel baby, how are you doing today?" She practically screamed and I had to laugh.

"I'm doing great, Nana, how are you?"

"Oh, honey, let me tell you! I am just fabulous!" She shouted. My smile widened. She's in a good mood and that means she's more likely to say yes.

"Did something good happen today?" I asked.

"Oh, you bet it did. I was at the supermarket trying to find me one of them sweet potato pies I like when I ran into Rosemary Harmon!"

"You're happy you ran into Ms. Harmon?" I raised my brows. Nana hates that lady. I've never known her to be happy about running into her.

"You damn right I am! Now, this is what happened; There I was in the middle of the dessert aisle trying to find me one of them sweet potato pies, then all of a sudden I'm bumping into somebody and I'm about to start yelling, but when I look up I see Rosemary Harmon, her ugly ass makeup running down her cheeks along with a whole bunch of crocodile tears!"

She cackled loudly. "So, I say 'What's wrong with you Ms. Harmon' not that I really gave a rat's ass, it's just that she cries all the damn time and if you don't ask her why she'll make a big fuss. Well, I didn't feel like a big fuss today, so I asked."

"Yes, ma'am."

"Mhm. So, she says to me 'Oh, Justine, my ex-husband is back in town and I just don't know how to deal with it. He looks so good and I've just let myself go, I don't even want him to see me!' And you know what, Dahlia, she ain't never lied! She looks a damn mess, always wearing peach and you know how that washes her out, don't you?"

"Yes ma'am, I know."

"Mhm, and her hair is always an oily ass mess and I never seen so many wrinkles on one single person in my life until I met her! So, anyway, I told her 'Ms. Harmon, now if you really don't want to see him you need to make sure he stays busy during his stay!' I told her to find out from one of her friends how long he was staying and she said it'd be about a week. Then she asked me how she was supposed to make sure he stayed busy and I told her to just go on ahead and give me his number and, Dahlia, I told her I'll keep him busy."

"Yes, ma'am. Well, I was just calling to—"

"You see, Mr. Harmon and I have had feelings for each other since we were little bitty babies! But Rosemary Harmon always finds a way to get in the middle of something! She got in the middle of me and his budding relationship and then she got in the middle of him and his bedsheets."

"Now, Nana—"

"They went off and got married after she got pregnant and, so, me and Mr. Harmon never got the chance to be together, but now he's back and I'm gonna take that man to bed and there's not a damn thing she can do about it! When I said I'd keep his ass busy that's just what I meant!"

"Nana—" I rubbed a hand down my face as she kept talking.

"And now I finally have a reason to get my dress out of the back of my closet. My favorite dress—I ain't worn it in years! It's red and sparkly and it don't cover much of nothing, and I'll tell you when he sees me in that damn thing—"

"Nana, can we stay in your beach house please?!" I cut in quickly. I threw pillows at Cadence and Billie as they laughed. Billie had slid off of my lap and onto the floor with Cadence, and they were both cackling like a bunch of hyenas.

"My what?"

"Your beach house. You know, the one you bought after your divorce?"

"No, honey, I bought myself a Cadillac and a corvette after my divorce. And a Gucci bag too."

"No, ma'am, I mean the first divorce. With grandpa. Remember?"

"Oh! Oh, that's right. Forgive me, honey, I forgot all about his fat ass for a few seconds there. Wasn't he just so ugly when you seen him at the baby shower? Oh, your daddy looks just like him, except for he's a handsome little man."

"Yes ma'am, so could we stay there for spring break?" I asked hopefully.

"Well, baby, I can't wear that dress without some new shoes and maybe a new handbag."

I rolled my eyes and let out a small laugh. "Yes, Nana, we'll pay you. How much are you thinking?"

"Y'all wanna stay there for spring break? The whole week?" She asked.

"Yes, ma'am."

"Ten thousand dollars."

"Now, Nana," I sighed. "You know we can't give you ten thousand dollars."

"Well, why the hell not?"

"I don't have that type of money."

"Well, Hell, I know your broke ass can't! The other one can pay for it, though. You know, the pretty, rich little lesbian girl you like so much? Buffy?"

"Billie." I corrected.

"Mhm. The one that told me about how to google what scissoring was."

I glared at Billie as she laughed loudly, falling dramatically onto her back and kicking her feet up in the air as Cadence followed suit, both of them rolling around the floor as they snickered amongst themselves. I flipped them off.

"Yes, I guess that was her, but—"

"She gave my little Den bear and his pretty pregnant friend ten thousand! Am I gonna have to get pregnant just to get some change? Shit, I might. Mr. Harmon and I—"

"Nana, how about...How about five hundred? I'm sure we could all chip in and get up five hundred, huh?"

Cadence nodded as she wiped the tears in her eyes away before bursting out laughing again.

"Five hundred...Well, that ain't gonna get me a new Gucci bag unless it's a knockoff, but I'll take it."

"Thanks, Nana."

"Mhm. Listen, don't let none of your friends fuck up my beach house. I like to keep it nice because when I pick up men that's where I take them. It ain't but ten minutes away from my house, you know, but I can't have all them men in my house. They attract bad energy, and it ain't enough sage in the world to cleanse that shit. That's why I had to move out of that house I shared with your granddaddy when we got our divorce. Wasn't no ghosts or spirits in there until his ass started being a bitch, then all of a sudden I hear shit flying across my kitchen at night. You know?"

"Yes, ma'am. Well, thank you. We'll see you next week and we'll have your money. I think I have to go now—"

"You tell your father to give me a call! I need to know more about Josephine. You know I talked to her for a while at that baby shower and she seemed sweet, but she was a real skinny thing! I told Joseph I just don't know how he doesn't break her when they're having sex, I mean she—"

"Yes ma'am, I have to go now. I love you! Bye!"

I hung up quickly and then let out a small breath. "Thanks for the help."

"You're welcome." Cadence grinned. "Alright, I'm gonna text the new and improved group chat and see if everyone is up for it. There are seventeen of us and it's five hundred dollars which means we're all gonna pay..."

Billie and I stared at her as she tried to calculate it in her head for a whole minute before finally just pulling up her phone calculator. "$29 bucks!" She grinned after typing it in.

"I can pay—"

"No, you can't." I cut Billie off quickly. I got off the couch and pulled her up before beginning to march toward the front door.

"Hey, where are you two assholes going?" Cadence whined.

"Back to my house." I shrugged.

"Why?"

"Cause you won't let us fuck in yours!" I yelled before closing the door. We ran across the yard and back to my house as quickly as we could.

***

"Do you think your legs will stop shaking after a while or—"

"Shut the fuck up." Billie glared, cutting off my mocking. I smirked as I picked her up and wrapped her legs around my waist before carrying her the rest of the way to the couch.

"You know, It's really hard to be intimidated by you knowing that you'll just become a moaning mess if I even so much as say I'm gonna stick a finger in you." I snickered. I got on my knees in front of the couch and rested my chin on her chest after laying her down, staring closely at her face.

"That is the last time I let you top," She grumbled. "You're too cocky after."

"Somehow, I don't think it is." I sent her a knowing look.

"People say things they don't mean during sex all the time." She huffed.

"Oh, Dahlia," I mocked in a high pitched voice. "You should fuck me like this every single day! Yes, yes, yes, yes—"

"I'm going to murder you and throw your body into the bottom of an ocean!" She shoved my face away and I laughed.

"She's a witch, she'd just float right back up."

I turned to glare at my brother as I heard him enter the room. He sat down right on top of Billie's feet and took the remote off the coffee table. He turned the tv on and found a dumb show to watch before shoving half the hotdog on his plate into his mouth. I cringed as he got ketchup all around his mouth and on his white t-shirt.

"You are disgusting." I shook my head.

"No, you two are disgusting. Close your door all the way before you fuck next time, and Billie—" He turned to look at her and smirked as he saw her eyes and mouth both wide open, her face flushing as she realized he'd heard us having sex. "You don't come across as much of a screamer, but apparently —"

"I'm going home!" She yelled, yanking her feet off from under him and pushing me out of the way. I snickered as I watched her get her stuff quickly and head for the door. "And you're never topping again, Dahlia."

"Yeah okay, baby." I smirked as she slammed the door closed behind her. I slid onto the couch and snatched the remote from Denny before flipping through the channels.

"Have you talked to dad about your spring break plans yet?" He asked.

"No, we're talking to him together when he gets home from work."

"You mean you and Cora are," He mumbled before shoving the rest of his hot dog into his mouth. "I'm not going."

"Why do you think you're not going?" I raised a brow.

"I need to get back to house searching. And job searching, and college searching, and cheap baby shit searching, and—"

"You can get back to all that shit after spring break. You need a little bit of relaxation before you start that shit back, and besides, this is your last ever spring break as a high school student. Don't you wanna do something special?"

"Julia and I haven't even figured out which hospital we want her to have the baby at, and we haven't packed a bag for when that time comes, and we need to figure out where to keep all the shit we got at the baby shower because it can't stay in our garages forever—"

"You'll keep the stuff you got at the baby shower at your houses when you find them. And you will find them." I assured him. He sighed.

"I cannot get a house if I can't find a roommate. I can't find a roommate because nobody wants to share a house with somebody who's got a baby. I cannot get a house if I can't find a roommate... You see the issue here, right?"

"I know it doesn't seem likely, and it's not gonna be easy, but you'll find someone. Just keep trying." I smiled. "And I mean keep trying after spring break. Cause you're going to Nana's beach house with us."

"You just want me to go so dad is more likely to let you go if I do." He rolled his eyes.

I gasped and leaned over to pat him on the head. "Wow, you're not as dumb as you look! How shocking!"

"Fuck off."
